SoundCloud Pro vs Pro Unlimited is now a legacy comparison. SoundCloud’s current artist subscriptions are called Artist and Artist Pro. Artist is generally sufficient for a smaller catalog and fewer releases; Artist Pro is the better fit when you need unlimited upload capacity, broader monetization and distribution eligibility, advanced analytics, higher promotion limits, or collaborator revenue splits.
Do not assume that an old Pro or Pro Unlimited subscription maps one-to-one to Artist or Artist Pro. Check the exact plan name in your SoundCloud account before changing anything. The comparison below uses SoundCloud’s current plan descriptions and cancellation policies available in 2026.
What do SoundCloud Pro and Pro Unlimited mean now?
SoundCloud no longer presents Pro and Pro Unlimited as the primary names in its current artist-plan comparison. The active tiers are Artist and Artist Pro, with Artist Pro positioned as the more extensive creator toolkit.

That naming change matters because a legacy subscription may not convert neatly to a current tier. SoundCloud’s current help material does not document an exact historical equivalence, so identify your plan from the account’s subscription-management screen rather than guessing from an old receipt or memory.

SoundCloud describes Artist Pro as “The ultimate toolkit. Unlimited uploads, advanced analytics, custom profile branding, and for collaborators.” That is vendor positioning, not a guarantee of audience growth, revenue, store placement, or partner access.
What’s the difference between SoundCloud Pro and Pro Unlimited’s current replacements?
The practical comparison is Artist versus Artist Pro. SoundCloud’s current table lists these inclusions:
| Feature | Artist | Artist Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Upload time | Up to 3 hours | Unlimited |
| Monthly mastering credits | 1 track | 3 tracks |
| Spotlight tracks | 1 | Up to 5 |
| Fan insights and analytics | Standard | Advanced |
| Track boosting | 2 tracks per month | 30 tracks per day |
| Monetization eligibility | 2 tracks | Unlimited |
| Distribution to other platforms | 2 tracks | Unlimited |
| Split Pay | No | Yes |
| Premium Profile Badge | No | Yes |
| Exclusive partner offers | No | Yes |
These are stated plan inclusions, not performance guarantees. Distribution acceptance, monetization revenue, listener growth, and partner availability depend on rights, review, destination policies, and audience response.
Which SoundCloud plan do I need to upload unlimited music?
You need Artist Pro for unlimited upload time under SoundCloud’s current plans. Artist is designed for creators whose catalog and release schedule fit within its upload allowance.
Artist is enough for a compact catalog
Choose Artist when you release occasionally, keep a relatively small back catalog, and do not need every Pro-level tool. Its allowance can cover a developing act, a podcast producer with shorter episodes, or a creator testing whether SoundCloud belongs in a broader publishing workflow.
Artist also includes access to SoundCloud’s core artist functions, but the plan-specific caps apply to uploads, monetization eligibility, distribution, mastering, promotion, and Spotlight placement. Review those limits against your next year of releases rather than only against what you have uploaded today.

Artist Pro removes the upload ceiling
Artist Pro makes more sense for long-form sets, frequent releases, large archives, or a team that does not want to ration upload time. The value is operational: you can keep a larger catalog in one account and avoid redesigning a release schedule around the lower tier’s limits.
Is SoundCloud Pro Unlimited worth it?
Because Pro Unlimited is legacy terminology, the better question is whether Artist Pro solves a current production or release constraint. It is worth considering when one or more of its listed capabilities prevents a concrete problem in your workflow.
Artist Pro is a strong fit when you need scale
- You publish enough material that a capped upload allowance forces you to remove, shorten, or delay releases.
- You distribute more than the lower tier permits or want one workflow for a growing catalog.
- You need monetization eligibility for a larger number of tracks.
- You work with collaborators and need Split Pay to assign percentages through SoundCloud.
- You rely on advanced fan and performance data rather than standard reporting.
- You use mastering, Spotlight, or boosting often enough for the higher limits to matter.
Artist remains sensible when the extras would sit unused
If your catalog fits Artist’s allowance and you release only a few tracks at a time, Artist Pro may add capabilities without changing your results. Paying for a higher tier does not itself create listeners, guarantee editorial attention, or improve a track’s artistic quality. Match the subscription to a constraint you can identify now, not to a hypothetical future audience.
How do monetization and distribution work on Artist Pro?
Artist Pro expands eligibility and capacity, but SoundCloud’s distribution process still involves metadata, rights review, and destination decisions. “Unlimited distribution” means the plan does not impose the listed track-count cap; it does not promise that every store or service will accept every release.
Prepare release information and rights
SoundCloud’s distribution instructions require release metadata and a submission for review. Make sure your artist name, titles, credits, artwork, release date, and ownership information are accurate before sending a release. SoundCloud states that only content for which you hold 100% exclusive rights can be delivered to certain user-generated-content fingerprinting services. A track containing uncleared samples, non-exclusive material, or disputed ownership may therefore fail a particular delivery or monetization requirement.

SoundCloud says Artist Pro users can schedule releases and assign collaborator percentages with Split Pay. The percentages should reflect an agreement you already have with the contributors; the tool records the split but does not resolve a rights dispute or replace a written contract.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

Understand destination review
Even after SoundCloud approves a release for delivery, curated destinations can decide whether to carry it. Store availability, timing, metadata corrections, and policy checks remain outside the subscription’s control. Treat distribution as a managed submission process, not an automatic listing in every platform.
How do mastering, Spotlight, and boosting differ?
The two plans provide different monthly or daily allowances for production and promotion tools, as shown in the comparison table. The decision depends on how regularly you use those tools, not simply on whether they appear in the feature list.
Mastering credits
Artist includes one monthly mastering credit, while Artist Pro includes three. Use those credits for releases where SoundCloud’s mastering workflow fits your needs; they do not replace a full mastering engineer for every project, and the plan table does not state that unused credits roll over.

Spotlight lets you feature selected tracks on your profile. Artist Pro supports a larger selection, which is useful if you maintain several active singles, collections, or collaborative projects at once. It is a profile-presentation tool, not a promise of algorithmic promotion.
Track boosting
The higher tier provides a much larger boosting allowance. Boosting can help you manage more campaigns, but the allowance is only the number of tracks you may submit under the plan; it does not guarantee impressions, plays, or conversions.
What analytics and fan tools come with Artist Pro?
Artist Pro includes advanced Insights, while Artist provides standard analytics. SoundCloud’s help page says Insights currently has no export feature, so plan to work inside the SoundCloud interface if you need the advanced view.

Advanced Insights
Advanced reporting can help a creator compare listener behavior, traffic sources, and catalog performance in one dashboard. It should be treated as a reporting-access difference rather than proof that the Pro tier will increase engagement. If you require CSV or API exports for a separate data warehouse, the stated lack of an export feature is a practical limitation.
Fans Tool beta
SoundCloud describes its Fans Tool as a beta for Artist Pro subscribers whose tracks are monetized. Fan lists refresh during the first week of each month, and the tool limits messages to 50 per day. Beta features can change or disappear, so verify that the tool is visible and eligible in your account before making it central to a campaign.
How are SoundCloud Artist subscriptions billed?
SoundCloud offers monthly and yearly billing. The annual option is charged as the full yearly amount at checkout even when the pricing page displays a monthly equivalent, and both billing cycles renew automatically unless you opt out.
There is no single universal price to quote responsibly: the amount can vary by country and checkout route, and the current source material does not establish a worldwide figure. Compare the final amount shown at checkout, confirm the currency, and check whether you are buying through SoundCloud’s website or another billing channel.
Check the account before purchasing
- Open SoundCloud’s subscription-management area while signed in to the account that owns the artist profile.
- Record the exact current plan name; do not infer it from the words Pro or Pro Unlimited used in an older promotion.
- Compare the monthly and annual totals shown for your country and payment route.
- Review the renewal date and cancellation controls before confirming the change.
What happens when you cancel or downgrade?
Cancellation affects distribution and monetization, not just future billing. SoundCloud says monetized or third-party-distributed content handled through SoundCloud for Artists is removed from distribution partners and demonetized 30 days after the subscription ends.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteA downgrade can also hide the oldest uploads that exceed the new plan’s upload-time limit. SoundCloud’s cancellation guidance says those tracks are not deleted; they can become visible again if you resubscribe. Keep your own masters, artwork, metadata, and release records so that a change in subscription does not become a data-recovery problem.

Plan a transition instead of cancelling on release day
- Check whether any active release is monetized or distributed through SoundCloud.
- Note the subscription end date and the date on which the 30-day post-expiry period begins.
- Export or record the metadata and collaborator agreements you will need elsewhere.
- Tell collaborators about the planned change, especially if they receive payments through Split Pay.
- Confirm that any hidden uploads are safely stored before downgrading.
Does Artist Pro include DJ integrations?
No. Artist Pro is a creator subscription, not a DJ-library subscription. SoundCloud says supported DJ-app access requires Go+ or SoundCloud DJ.
Artist Pro subscribers can still upload unlimited sets, schedule mixes, and access full stats according to SoundCloud’s DJ FAQ, and SoundCloud says they can add Go+ at a discount. Those benefits do not turn Artist Pro itself into a DJ integration plan; verify the supported app and the current discount in your account.
How should you choose between Artist and Artist Pro?
Use a needs-based check rather than trying to translate an old Pro label into a new one. The following sequence keeps the decision tied to a measurable requirement.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Identify your account’s current tier. Open subscription management and write down whether SoundCloud lists Artist, Artist Pro, or a legacy name.
- Count the next release cycle. Include planned singles, albums, mixes, podcasts, and archived material. If the lower tier’s upload, distribution, or monetization allowance would force a change, Artist Pro addresses that specific bottleneck.
- List collaboration requirements. If contributors need percentage-based payment assignment inside SoundCloud, Split Pay is an Artist Pro requirement.
- Check reporting needs. Choose the higher tier only if advanced Insights or the additional fan and promotion tools will be used regularly.
- Model cancellation risk. If you distribute or monetize through SoundCloud, account for the removal and demonetization policy before selecting a short-term subscription.
- Compare the checkout total. Review the actual monthly or annual charge for your country, including the renewal date, instead of relying on a displayed monthly equivalent.
What mistakes should you avoid?
- Assuming historical equivalence: Treating every old Pro account as Artist or every Pro Unlimited account as Artist Pro can lead to the wrong limits. Verify the label shown in your account.
- Reading “unlimited” as “guaranteed”: Unlimited uploads or distribution capacity does not waive rights review, metadata requirements, or destination policies.
- Ignoring collaborator paperwork: Split Pay records percentages but does not create an agreement or settle ownership disputes.
- Budgeting from the monthly display: An annual subscription is charged as one yearly amount at checkout.
- Canceling without a transition plan: Distributed and monetized content can be removed or demonetized after the subscription ends, and uploads above a downgraded allowance can be hidden.
- Buying Artist Pro for DJ software: Artist Pro does not provide DJ integrations; the separate DJ-oriented subscription is the relevant product.
- Treating beta tools as permanent: Fans Tool eligibility and behavior can change, so verify access before promising a campaign workflow to a team.
What is the practical verdict?
Artist is the economical operational choice when its upload, distribution, monetization, mastering, promotion, and analytics limits match your release plan. Artist Pro is justified when unlimited capacity, expanded eligibility, advanced reporting, collaborator payments, or the larger promotion allowances solve a present constraint. Since SoundCloud changes plan details and regional checkout terms, confirm the current comparison and the amount due in your own account immediately before subscribing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do SoundCloud Artist plans require special recording hardware?
No plan-specific microphone, interface, headphones, or other device is required. You can use the recording setup you already own; the subscription changes publishing and creator features rather than your hardware compatibility.
Where can I find current partner offers for Artist Pro?
SoundCloud places available offers in the in-account Benefits area. A benefit named in an older SoundCloud help article may have expired or changed, so rely on the offer shown to your signed-in account rather than an archived promotion.
Is there a public affiliate program for SoundCloud Artist Pro?
No public affiliate or referral terms are established in the available SoundCloud material. Do not assume that a referral link earns commission; ask SoundCloud directly if you need a formal commercial arrangement.
Are Artist and Artist Pro available with the same features in every country?
Regional availability, currency, taxes, and checkout routes can affect what you see. Confirm the plan name, included features, and final charge in the subscription screen for your country before upgrading.
