Verdict: The Skullcandy Crusher Evo Wireless Headphones are still worth considering only if adjustable, physical bass vibration is the feature you want most. The slider delivers a sensation ordinary headphones cannot reproduce, battery endurance is excellent in independent testing, and the folding design is practical. It is a poor choice for buyers who need active noise cancellation, strong isolation, multipoint switching, premium codecs, or dependable long-term support, however. Skullcandy has discontinued the model, so any purchase in 2026 should be treated as remaining-stock buying: verify the seller, battery condition, return period, and warranty before paying.
What is the Skullcandy Crusher Evo?
The Crusher Evo is a Bluetooth 5.0 over-ear headphone announced by Skullcandy on September 3, 2020 and listed by Gadgets 360 with a November 19, 2020 release date. Its defining feature is Sensory Haptic Bass: a physical slider adds vibration as well as audible low-end, letting you choose how strongly bass is felt. It also supports Skullcandy’s Personal Sound hearing profile through the Skullcandy App.
The design uses 40 mm drivers, folding ear cups, USB-C charging, and a 3.5 mm auxiliary input. Official specifications put the weight at 312 g. Those fundamentals remain useful, but the product’s age matters: wireless standards, noise cancellation, and device-switching features have moved on since its launch.

| Feature | Crusher Evo specification | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Over-ear wireless headphone | Large ear cups surround the ears rather than resting on them. |
| Launch | Announced September 3, 2020; release listed as November 19, 2020 | This is an older generation model and remaining inventory may have aged batteries. |
| Drivers | 40 mm | Designed for a powerful, bass-forward presentation. |
| Weight | 312 g | Heavier and bulkier than many everyday travel headphones. |
| Wireless | Bluetooth 5.0; SBC and AAC codecs | Works with mainstream phones and computers but lacks higher-bandwidth aptX and LDAC. |
| Wired operation | 3.5 mm AUX input | You can connect to sources that provide a standard headphone jack or adapter. |
| Charging | USB-C | Uses the current common charging connector rather than Micro-USB. |
| Battery claim | Up to 40 hours; about four hours from a 10-minute charge | Skullcandy’s figure is a best-case manufacturer rating, not a guaranteed runtime at every volume or bass setting. |
| Noise cancellation | No ANC | There is no electronic engine or chatter suppression. |
| Multipoint | Not supported | It cannot maintain two active Bluetooth device connections for automatic switching. |
| Controls | Physical haptic-bass slider plus onboard controls | Bass intensity can be changed without opening the app. |
How does the haptic bass and sound quality compare?
The haptic system is the reason to buy Crusher Evo. Move the ear-cup slider toward maximum and the headphone adds a strong physical rumble to kick drums, electronic bass, explosions, and other low-frequency effects. RTINGS describes the range as moving from a moderate thump to an intensely powerful rumble. This is not merely an EQ boost: the vibration is a separate sensation that can make moderate listening levels feel more energetic.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The slider does not turn the headphone into a neutral monitor. RTINGS finds the tuning bass-forward even with haptics reduced, while the mid-range remains reasonably balanced. SoundGuys characterizes the result as good, fun sound, but notes the absence of aptX and LDAC. RTINGS also reports a poor passive soundstage, so instruments and effects do not create a particularly spacious, speaker-like image.
What can the Skullcandy App change?
The app provides EQ presets and Personal Sound, the Audiodo-powered hearing personalization announced with the product. Personal Sound creates an individualized profile rather than simply moving a global bass or treble control. You can therefore reduce the physical slider for speech or acoustic music, select an EQ preset for a different tonal balance, or increase the slider when you specifically want a tactile effect.
People who want a clean, even response for mixing, classical recordings, or competitive positional gaming should look elsewhere. The Crusher Evo’s appeal is involvement and impact, not a wide, reference-style stage.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow long does Crusher Evo battery last?
Skullcandy rates the Crusher Evo for up to 40 hours and says a 10-minute charge supplies about four hours of playback. Those are manufacturer figures and will vary with volume, Bluetooth conditions, and haptic-bass use.
Independent measurements are more generous in some conditions. SoundGuys recorded 66 hours and 50 minutes in a 75 dB test with the bass slider at minimum. RTINGS measured more than 34 hours of continuous use. The difference between these results illustrates why a single advertised number should not be treated as a promise: test loudness, slider position, codec activity, and test methodology all change consumption.

For a new, healthy unit, the battery is one of the Crusher Evo’s strongest practical advantages. For old stock, capacity is the uncertainty. Lithium-ion cells lose capacity while sitting and cycling, so a sealed-looking listing is not proof of new-battery performance. Ask when the seller acquired the unit, whether it was previously used or returned, and how a battery-related return would be handled.
Does Crusher Evo have noise cancellation or good isolation?
No. Crusher Evo has no active noise cancellation. RTINGS finds poor isolation against low-frequency engine noise and surrounding chatter, so trains, aircraft, buses, and busy offices will remain audible. The physical ear pads provide some passive blocking, but they cannot replace an ANC system.

This limitation also affects the bass experience: in a noisy environment you may be tempted to turn up both volume and haptic intensity to overcome outside sound. A quieter room lets the slider provide its effect at a safer, more comfortable level. If commuting silence is a priority, an ANC model is a better match.
Are the Crusher Evo comfortable and portable?
The ear cups fold, which makes the headphone easier to pack than its size suggests, but SoundGuys describes it as bulky. At 312 g, it is not a lightweight design. The rubberized headband can pull hair, and the ear cups may feel warm during long sessions. Comfort therefore depends heavily on head size, hairstyle, climate, and how long you wear it.
For short listening sessions, travel between locations, or workouts where strong bass is the objective, the foldable construction is convenient. For all-day office use, glasses wearers, or hot environments, try the fit before committing or buy only from a seller with a meaningful return window. Do not assume that the over-ear shape automatically means cool, pressure-free comfort.

How do Bluetooth, wired use, and device switching work?
Bluetooth 5.0 provides the wireless connection, with SBC and AAC listed as the supported codecs. AAC is useful with compatible Apple devices, while SBC is the broad fallback used by phones, tablets, laptops, and many other sources. SoundGuys specifically notes that aptX and LDAC are not available, so this is not the model for listeners choosing a headphone around high-resolution Bluetooth formats.

Multipoint is absent. You can pair the headphone with more than one device over time, but it will not keep two active links and automatically jump from a laptop call to a phone. Expect to disconnect or select the Crusher Evo manually when changing sources.
A 3.5 mm AUX connection is available for wired listening. USB-C is documented for charging; the wired audio path is the analog AUX jack. Wired operation is useful with aircraft adapters, older audio equipment, game controllers, or computers where Bluetooth is unreliable.
How does Crusher Evo compare with newer alternatives?
The right comparison depends on whether you value the haptic effect or general-purpose performance. RTINGS positions Sony ULT WEAR as a better all-rounder because it offers much stronger ANC and better comfort, while Crusher Evo wins when maximum physical bass is the deciding factor. Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 is the newer ANC-equipped option in the same family.
| Buying priority | Crusher Evo | Sony ULT WEAR | Crusher ANC 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physical bass intensity | Strongest choice of these three when the haptic slider is the priority. | Not positioned as the maximum-haptic option. | Newer family alternative; compare its current feature set and price directly. |
| Noise cancellation | No ANC; passive isolation is poor against engines and chatter. | Much stronger ANC according to RTINGS. | Includes ANC as the newer Crusher-family option. |
| Comfort | Bulky 312 g design; headband may pull hair and cups can become warm. | Rated a better all-rounder for comfort by RTINGS. | Newer design; verify fit and current reviews for your head size. |
| Bluetooth features | Bluetooth 5.0, SBC/AAC, no multipoint, no aptX or LDAC. | Check the current model’s codec and multipoint specification before purchase. | Check the current model’s codec and multipoint specification before purchase. |
| Stock and support | Discontinued; remaining units may have aged batteries. | Current availability depends on region and seller. | Newer product with generally easier current-stock support. |
| Best match | Listeners who specifically want adjustable physical rumble. | People who prioritize quieter travel and balanced everyday use. | Listeners wanting Crusher-style bass with modern ANC features. |

Is Skullcandy Crusher Evo discontinued?
SoundGuys’ November 8, 2024 update reports that Crusher Evo was discontinued and recommends newer headphones for most buyers. That does not make every remaining unit a bad purchase, but it changes the risk calculation: availability is likely leftover inventory, and manufacturer support or replacement parts may be less predictable than for a current model.
Price should be judged against that risk. SoundGuys lists a $199.99 MSRP from its review period. Gadgets 360 recorded an Amazon listing at ₹15,499 on September 11, 2026. Those figures are not a universal current price: currency, seller, condition, taxes, and regional stock can change the amount substantially.
What should you check in a remaining-stock listing?
- Condition: Confirm whether the item is new, open-box, refurbished, or used, and ask for photographs of the ear pads, headband, hinges, and charging port.
- Battery: Ask whether the seller has tested runtime and whether the battery is original. Older inventory can deliver less than the launch rating even if the headphone appears unused.
- Return policy: Make sure there is enough time to pair it, test the slider, make a call, charge it, and run a several-hour playback test.
- Warranty: Verify who handles warranty claims in your country and whether the warranty applies to clearance or marketplace stock.
- Authenticity: Match the model name and serial information to the packaging and app pairing screen; unusually low prices deserve extra scrutiny.
How do you set up Crusher Evo for the best result?
- Charge it over USB-C. Start with a full charge so an old or weak cell is not mistaken for a pairing problem.
- Pair over Bluetooth. Select Crusher Evo in your phone or computer’s Bluetooth menu. If you later change devices, remember that multipoint is not available, so disconnect the first source when necessary.
- Install and open the Skullcandy App. Add Crusher Evo when prompted. Core Bluetooth playback and the physical slider do not require constant app use, but app access is needed for EQ presets and Personal Sound.
- Run Personal Sound in a quiet room. Follow the app’s hearing-profile process, then save the resulting profile. Re-run it if another person has changed the profile or if the result sounds obviously wrong.
- Set the haptic slider conservatively first. Begin near minimum, choose an EQ preset, and raise the slider only until the physical effect is enjoyable. Maximum intensity is deliberately extreme and can become tiring.
- Test both wireless and AUX modes. Check the 3.5 mm connection with your intended source, then test Bluetooth range and microphone performance before the return period expires.
Who should buy Crusher Evo, and who should skip it?
Buy it when these priorities match
- You want bass you can physically feel, not just a stronger frequency response.
- You value very long playback and are purchasing from a seller that stands behind the battery.
- You mostly use one Bluetooth source at a time and do not need automatic device switching.
- You listen in relatively quiet places or are willing to use a wired connection where isolation matters.
- You can obtain a substantial discount compared with its old MSRP and have a usable return or warranty policy.
Choose something else when these requirements matter
- You need ANC for aircraft, trains, or open offices.
- You expect a light, cool headphone for all-day wear.
- You need multipoint for simultaneous phone and laptop work.
- You use aptX or LDAC as a buying requirement.
- You need consistently clear calls in noisy environments; RTINGS finds the microphone understandable but muffled and weak when surroundings are loud.
- You want a broad, speaker-like soundstage or neutral monitoring balance.
What are the main Crusher Evo drawbacks to accept?
The trade-off is unusually clear. You get an engaging, adjustable rumble and strong potential battery life, but you give up ANC, effective environmental isolation, multipoint, premium codecs, compactness, and some long-session comfort. The microphone is serviceable in quiet conditions rather than a standout communications system. Because the product is discontinued, battery age and after-sales support become part of the specification, not minor purchasing details.
If those compromises do not affect your use, a well-priced, verified unit can still be distinctive in 2026. If they do, a current ANC headphone—or a newer Crusher-family model—will be less risky even if it cannot reproduce exactly the same haptic-bass experience.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Crusher Evo without installing the Skullcandy App?
Yes. Bluetooth playback, onboard controls, and the physical bass slider work without keeping the app open. The app is needed for EQ presets and the Audiodo Personal Sound profile, so skipping it means using the headphone’s default tuning.

How can I test a used or old-stock unit before the return period ends?
Fully charge it, pair it with your normal source, and play a familiar playlist for several hours while checking that the battery percentage falls steadily. Move the haptic slider through its range, try the AUX cable, and make a short call so you catch weak vibration, charging, connection, or microphone faults early.
Will the Crusher Evo work with a device that has no headphone jack?
Use Bluetooth if the device supports it. For wired use, the source needs a 3.5 mm output or a compatible USB-C, Lightning, or other adapter that provides an analog headphone connection; the headphone’s USB-C port is specified for charging.
Is the physical bass effect the same as turning up an equalizer?
No. Equalization changes the level of low-frequency sound, while Sensory Haptic Bass adds vibration you can feel. You can combine the slider with an app EQ preset, which is why the Crusher Evo can sound relatively bass-heavy even when the slider is near its minimum.
What is the safest way to judge a low-priced marketplace listing?
Treat an unusually low price as a condition and support question rather than an automatic bargain. Confirm the exact model, seller identity, battery-testing policy, return deadline, and warranty coverage in writing before ordering, especially because the model is discontinued.
