Showit is usually the better fit for a design-led creative business that needs extensive visual control and a WordPress blog. Wix is usually better for a business that wants payments, ecommerce, scheduling, marketing and analytics together in one platform. The right choice depends on the work your site must do: compare the specific plan, blogging workflow, integrations and migration needs before committing. Both can support search visibility, but their blogging and SEO tools work differently.

What is the difference between Showit and Wix?

Showit centers on visual website design and pairs its site builder with WordPress for blogging. Wix combines a flexible site editor with built-in business tools, including payments, ecommerce and scheduling. In practical terms, Showit gives a creative professional more reason to prioritize the look and layout of a site; Wix gives a small business more reason to prioritize having operational tools in one platform.

That distinction is more useful than asking which builder is universally “better.” A photographer who wants a distinctive portfolio and a WordPress blog has different requirements from a service business that wants visitors to book appointments and pay online. Either platform may suit a small business, but the features included in the relevant plan—and any extra services needed to fill gaps—affect the real cost and workload.

Decision area Showit Wix
Core strength Extensive visual design control, particularly suited to creative professionals (Showit’s official comparison). Website editing combined with business tools and a large template library (Wix’s official website-builder page).
Blogging Blog runs on WordPress; available plugin options depend on the Showit plan (Showit’s official comparison and help documentation). SEO and site content tools are managed within Wix’s hosted platform (Wix SEO documentation).
Built-in ecommerce Not built in; Showit describes integrations with tools such as WooCommerce or Shopify Lite (Showit’s official comparison). Payments and ecommerce are included in the cited Core and Business plans (Wix’s official website-builder page).
Scheduling Not stated in the cited Showit sources. Scheduling and services are included in the cited Core and Business plans (Wix’s official website-builder page).
Storage and traffic limits Plan tiers include different storage and visit limits, but exact limits are not stated in the cited pricing details. Storage amounts are not stated in the cited website-builder details.
Starting prices cited $27/month or $259 billed annually for Showit without a blog (official Showit pricing page). $29/month on an annual subscription for Core (official Wix website-builder page; final price varies by subscription period, taxes and billing address).

Is Showit or Wix better for a small business?

Choose based on how the business needs to work, rather than its size alone. Showit makes more sense when the website’s visual identity and WordPress blogging are central. Wix makes more sense when the business wants payments, products or services, and scheduling managed alongside its website.

Showit is a stronger fit when the website is the brand’s main showcase

  • You need substantial control over the site’s visual design or want independent control of the mobile layout.
  • Your business is creative-professional work, such as a photography or design portfolio.
  • You want a WordPress blog and are comfortable selecting a blog tier based on its plugin capabilities.
  • You can use or budget for separate commerce or booking tools if the business needs them.

Wix is a stronger fit when the site needs to run business tasks

  • You want ecommerce, payments or service scheduling included in the website platform.
  • You would rather start with a large template library than build a highly customized visual experience from scratch.
  • You value having marketing and analytics tools within the same platform; check the plan for the exact features you need.
  • You want to export store orders or physical-product data as CSV files.

Wix says its library has more than 2,000 responsive templates and that more than 300 million sites have been built on the platform. Those are vendor-reported figures, not a measure of how well a particular template fits a business or how much editing a site will need.

How much do Showit and Wix cost?

The cited Showit prices distinguish website-only service from blog tiers. Wix’s cited Core and Business prices are monthly rates for annual subscriptions. Compare the price of the plan that actually covers the site’s needs: adding a separate booking or commerce tool to one platform can change the total cost.

Platform and plan Cited price What the cited details establish
Showit $27/month or $259 billed annually Website-only plan; hosting and HTTPS are included (Showit official pricing page).
Showit & Basic Starter Blog $34/month or $326 billed annually Includes a WordPress blog. The tier uses pre-installed plugins and does not allow additional plugins (Showit official pricing page and help documentation).
Showit & Advanced Blog $49/month or $470 billed annually Includes broader WordPress plugin use, including ecommerce plugins, and assisted blog migration from WordPress or Squarespace (Showit official pricing page and help documentation).
Wix Core $29/month on an annual subscription Cited plan includes hosting, storage, payments, ecommerce, scheduling/services, collaborator seats and a free domain for one year (Wix official website-builder page).
Wix Business $39/month on an annual subscription Cited plan includes hosting, storage, payments, ecommerce, scheduling/services, collaborator seats and a free domain for one year (Wix official website-builder page).

Wix says its final price can vary by subscription period, taxes and billing address, so treat the cited monthly figures as annual-subscription prices rather than a universal quote. Showit’s listed annual-billing figures are shown alongside its monthly rates. The available pricing details do not establish an exact storage allowance, visit limit, or collaborator-seat count for every plan; verify those specifics before choosing.

What does the annual cost look like in practice?

Using the listed annual amounts, Showit’s website-only plan costs $259 per year, Basic Starter Blog costs $326, and Advanced Blog costs $470. The difference between website-only and Advanced Blog is $211 annually, which may be justified if WordPress plugins or assisted migration are essential. Wix Core at $29 per month on annual billing works out to $348 before any applicable taxes or regional adjustments; Business at $39 per month works out to $468 on the same basis. These arithmetic comparisons do not include third-party apps, payment processing, premium templates, domain renewals after a first-year promotion, professional design work or migration services.

A low subscription price can therefore be misleading. For Showit, price a commerce platform, booking system or specialist form service if the business needs one. For Wix, check whether the chosen plan includes the required level of storage, collaborators, automations and commerce functionality rather than assuming every feature is available at Core. Requesting a complete first-year and renewal-year estimate helps avoid surprises.

How much design freedom and editing control do you need?

Showit’s positioning is centered on extensive visual control for creative professionals. That is valuable when the design itself communicates the service: a photographer may want a particular image sequence, typography treatment, spacing system and mobile composition rather than a standard business layout. Showit also allows independent mobile layout control, so a desktop composition can be adjusted for a smaller screen instead of accepting a single automatically adapted arrangement.

Wix offers a flexible editor and a very large starting library. More than 2,000 responsive templates can shorten the time to a usable first draft, especially for a business owner who would rather customize an established structure. The trade-off is that a template library is a starting point, not a guarantee of a distinctive result. Compare how much of the chosen template you expect to change, who will make those changes and whether the editor remains manageable for future updates.

Editor learning curve is a practical cost on both platforms. Before subscribing, build a small test page, add a call-to-action, check the mobile view and ask another person to make a routine edit. This exposes whether the people maintaining the site can work confidently without hiring a designer for every change.

Is Showit good for SEO, and how does it compare with Wix?

Both platforms provide ways to support search visibility, but neither guarantees rankings. Showit’s blog runs on WordPress, with plugin flexibility depending on the plan. Wix keeps its SEO settings and related tools within its hosted platform, including structured data, analytics, a Search Console integration, an SEO Setup Checklist and an SEO/GEO dashboard.

Wix’s SEO documentation says sites are designed to be crawled and indexed. Connecting Google Search Console through the documented dashboard requires a Premium plan and a connected domain. That is a specific requirement for the Search Console connection, not a claim that every SEO feature requires the same plan.

When comparing the platforms, look at the work your publishing workflow requires: whether you need WordPress plugins, how you will organize pages and blog content, and who will maintain the site’s technical setup. Content quality, clear information architecture, technical configuration and ongoing maintenance still matter whichever builder you select.

SEO questions to settle before launch

  • Can you create the page titles, meta descriptions, headings and image alternatives your content plan requires?
  • Will the blog and main site use a URL structure that visitors and search engines can understand?
  • Who will connect analytics and Search Console, submit the site and monitor indexing?
  • What happens to old URLs if a template, slug or platform changes?
  • Which person is responsible for updating content, checking broken links and reviewing performance?

Showit’s WordPress architecture can be useful if the publishing team already knows WordPress or relies on a specific compatible plugin. Wix’s hosted approach can be simpler for a team that wants SEO controls in one dashboard. Neither architecture replaces a consistent editorial calendar, useful service pages and technically sound navigation.

Can Showit handle ecommerce and bookings?

Showit does not have built-in ecommerce in the cited comparison. Its official comparison says users can integrate an ecommerce tool such as WooCommerce or Shopify Lite. The Advanced Blog tier supports broader WordPress plugin use, including ecommerce plugins; the Basic Starter Blog tier is limited to pre-installed plugins.

That means a Showit site can be part of a selling setup, but the business should identify the external tool and how it will connect before choosing a plan. Decide where products, checkout, taxes, shipping, customer records and order emails will be managed. Confirm that the chosen integration works with the selected Showit blog tier and that the design can send customers to a clear, trustworthy checkout. The cited Showit sources do not establish built-in booking functionality or a particular booking integration, so a business that depends on appointments should verify its intended booking workflow directly.

Wix’s cited Core and Business plans include payments, ecommerce, and scheduling/services. That can reduce the need to assemble separate systems. It may also simplify staff training because products, appointments and website content are accessed through one provider. Even so, check the plan against the precise products, services, payment methods, storage needs and staff permissions the business requires. A general-purpose builder may not replace a specialist system when inventory, fulfillment or reporting becomes unusually complex.

How do blogging and plugins differ?

Showit uses WordPress for its blog, so blog-related plan choice matters as much as the visual builder. The Basic Starter Blog tier comes with pre-installed plugins but does not permit additional plugins. Advanced Blog supports broader WordPress plugin use and includes migration support from WordPress or Squarespace. The blog tiers also include WordPress hosting, storage, visit limits, backups and user allowances, although the cited pricing details do not state the exact limits for each tier.

Wix keeps its SEO controls and content tools inside its hosted platform. The cited Wix documentation covers SEO settings and structured data, but it does not provide a feature-by-feature plugin comparison with Showit’s WordPress setup. If a specific plugin, membership feature, analytics connection or publishing workflow is essential, confirm its availability and compatibility on the platform and plan you are considering rather than assuming a WordPress equivalent exists.

Plugin freedom also creates responsibility. On a WordPress-based blog, list who will update plugins, test changes and restore a backup if a conflict occurs. Showit advertises backups within its blog tiers, but the business should still understand what is backed up and how restoration works. On Wix, the hosted model reduces some maintenance tasks, while platform-level limitations can mean finding an approved app or changing the workflow.

Templates, integrations and support considerations

Wix’s 2,000-plus responsive templates provide breadth across industries and page types. That is useful for a new business that needs a credible site quickly or wants to compare several visual directions before committing. Showit’s value is less about a reported template count and more about the degree of visual customization it offers to creative professionals. A design-led team should evaluate actual demonstrations and editing tests instead of choosing on template quantity alone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

List every external connection the site needs: email marketing, analytics, payment processing, a client portal, a booking calendar, a portfolio gallery, shipping, accounting or a CRM. Then mark each as built in, available through an integration, or unverified. This prevents a common mistake: selecting a platform because it supports one headline feature while overlooking a critical form, calendar or data-export requirement.

Support is another workflow question. Identify who will answer technical questions, whether the business has an internal administrator and what happens if a third-party integration fails. The cited platform details do not establish identical support response times or channels, so compare the current support terms during checkout and document the account owner, billing contact and recovery details.

What happens if you need to move your site?

Plan a migration as a site rebuild and content transfer, not just a switch of the website editor. Showit documents assisted blog migration from WordPress or Squarespace on Advanced Blog. Wix documents CSV export for store orders and physical-product catalogs, but those exports do not by themselves establish that a complete site—including pages, blog, forms and integrations—will transfer automatically.

Before leaving either platform, inventory what must move

  • Page and blog content, including the current URLs and any pages that must remain easy to find.
  • Images and other media, along with where they are stored and used.
  • Forms, booking or commerce workflows, and their integrations.
  • Analytics and Search Console setup, plus any redirects needed for changed URLs.
  • Store records or product data that need to be retained outside the site.
  • Brand assets, fonts, downloads, legal pages and contact details that are easy to overlook in a visual rebuild.

Wix’s official export documentation says orders and physical-product catalogs can be exported to CSV. A physical-product export can contain up to 5,000 rows per file. The documentation cited here does not support digital-product export, so a store that sells digital products should plan how to preserve that data before relying on a CSV handoff. Export a sample, open it in a spreadsheet and confirm that names, prices, variants and identifiers are usable before canceling the old service.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A safer migration sequence

  1. Map the old site’s pages, URLs, media and conversion paths.
  2. Choose the destination plan and confirm blog, plugin, commerce and booking requirements.
  3. Build the new site on a temporary or unpublished address while the current site remains live.
  4. Transfer and review content, forms, product records, analytics and legal pages.
  5. Prepare redirects for changed URLs and test navigation on desktop and mobile.
  6. Connect the domain, verify HTTPS, submit the new sitemap where applicable and monitor errors.
  7. Keep an archived copy of exports and do not cancel the old platform until orders, leads and essential records are safely preserved.

Showit’s assisted migration offer applies to blog migrations from WordPress or Squarespace on Advanced Blog; it is not evidence of an automatic Wix-to-Showit transfer. A Wix-to-Showit move should therefore be scoped page by page, with time allowed for redesign, URL decisions and integration replacement.

Which platform should photographers and other creatives choose?

Showit is the more natural starting point when the portfolio’s custom look, separate mobile layout control, and WordPress blog matter more than built-in sales and scheduling. It is particularly relevant to photographers and other creative professionals because Showit positions its builder for that audience and emphasizes visual control.

Wix is a better starting point if the creative business also needs to sell products, take payments or let customers schedule services in the same platform. A photographer who mainly needs a portfolio and blog may reasonably prioritize Showit; one who also needs integrated bookings or ecommerce may reasonably prioritize Wix. In either case, list the business’s must-have functions before buying a plan and confirm that each is included or supported.

What does independent coverage say about Wix?

In an October 16, 2026 review, TechRadar named Wix its best website builder overall and listed annual-billing prices ranging from $17 to $159 per month. That is an editorial review, not a Wix price guarantee, and its price range should not be substituted for the specific Core and Business prices cited above. TechRadar also noted that businesses needing deep inventory management or advanced analytics may prefer specialist ecommerce platforms.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That qualification matters if the site is becoming a more complex store or analytics operation. Wix’s bundled tools can be convenient, but a business with advanced operational requirements should verify those requirements against the plan before treating a general-purpose website builder as a full specialist commerce system.

Common selection mistakes to avoid

  • Comparing only monthly sticker prices. Include annual billing, taxes, domain renewal, apps, payment costs, design help and migration work.
  • Choosing a blog tier after launch. Showit’s Basic Starter Blog does not allow additional plugins, so identify plugin needs before publishing.
  • Assuming a platform includes bookings. Wix lists scheduling/services in the cited Core and Business plans; the cited Showit material does not establish built-in booking.
  • Treating a template count as a quality score. Wix’s 2,000-plus templates offer breadth, but the final result depends on editing and content.
  • Ignoring exports and redirects. Preserve records, map URLs and test forms before changing DNS or canceling the old account.
  • Overlooking future maintainers. A visually perfect site that nobody can update, or a tool-rich dashboard nobody uses, creates ongoing friction.

How should you make the final choice?

  1. Write down the site’s essential jobs. Separate design and blogging needs from selling, payments, scheduling, marketing and analytics.
  2. Choose the plan, not just the brand. On Showit, decide whether a WordPress blog is needed and whether the Basic or Advanced plugin options fit. On Wix, verify the exact plan features, storage, collaborator limits and commerce requirements.
  3. Count the full setup. Include any separate commerce, booking or migration services required, not only the platform subscription.
  4. Check how content and records will move. Identify pages, URLs, media, blog posts, forms, integrations and store data before rebuilding.
  5. Test the editing workflow. Have the people responsible for updates create a page, publish a post, change a mobile layout and review a form.
  6. Match the platform to the workflow you will maintain. A visually distinctive site is useful only if it can be kept current; a bundled dashboard is useful only if its tools match the business’s actual needs.
