There is no universal winner: a Character Event Warp can add a new team option, while a Light Cone Event Warp targets an equipment upgrade. Choose based on the specific featured items, your roster, your separate banner guarantee progress, and which future opportunity you are willing to give up. Check the live banner’s View Details panel before spending.
What are you trying to improve?
Pull for the character when the roster addition matters
A featured character may fill a role your roster lacks, enable a team you want to use, or offer a play style you enjoy. Consider the character’s value to your account as a whole, not just whether the character is popular or currently featured.
Consider the Light Cone when it improves a character you use
A Light Cone is an equipment-focused pull, so first ask whether you own the character it is intended for and whether the Cone would be a meaningful improvement over alternatives you can actually use. A signature Light Cone can be worthwhile for a favorite or frequently used character, but it is not automatically necessary.
Compare the banners on your account, not by label
- Account impact: Would the character open a new team or role, or would the Light Cone improve an existing team?
- Fit: Do you have the character who would use the featured Cone, and do you have usable alternatives?
- Resources and guarantee: How many passes and how much pity progress do you have on each banner type? Can you afford the unfavorable outcome as well as the favorable one?
- Opportunity cost: Which future character or Cone might you have to skip if you spend now?
These questions matter more than a blanket rule to always prioritize characters or always chase signature equipment. If neither featured option solves a meaningful account need, saving is also a valid choice.

Know how Light Cone Event Warp guarantees work
HoYoverse’s support article, updated September 23, 2025, says that a Light Cone Event Warp guarantees a 5-star Light Cone within 80 Warps. Each 5-star Light Cone has a 75% chance of being the featured one. If a 5-star Light Cone is not featured, the next 5-star Light Cone is guaranteed to be featured. The 5-star counter resets when a 5-star Light Cone is obtained. HoYoverse explains the Light Cone guarantee and pity carryover.

That guarantee does not make a Light Cone pull a guaranteed quick upgrade: if the first 5-star is not the featured Cone, you may need to keep pulling for the next 5-star to reach the featured guarantee. Decide whether you have enough resources for that possibility before starting.
Keep pity and guarantee progress separate
HoYoverse says accumulated Warp count carries over to subsequent Light Cone Event Warps. However, Light Cone Event Warp and Character Event Warp guarantee counts are calculated independently; progress on one type does not advance the other. Other Warp categories are independent as well. The official support article lists Character Collaboration, Light Cone Collaboration, and Departure Warps among the separate categories.

So, check your progress on the exact banner type you plan to use. Do not treat character-banner pity as progress toward a Light Cone, or vice versa. Banner lineups and available Warp types can change, so use the current in-game banner information.

The cited support rules were updated September 23, 2025. Because banner lineups, dates, available Warp types, and potentially rules can change, rely on the live View Details panel for the banner you are considering. Do not assume an older figure for a different Warp type applies to the current banner.
A practical decision rule
- Name the outcome you want. Is your priority a new character and team option, or a stronger build for a character you already play?
- Check the fit. For a Light Cone, confirm you own and use the intended character and compare the Cone with your available alternatives.
- Check the relevant banner progress. Review pity and guarantee state separately for the Character Event Warp and Light Cone Event Warp.
- Set a stopping point. Decide how many passes you can spend, including whether you can continue if the first 5-star is not the featured item.
- Compare the next-best use of those passes. If spending now means giving up a more valuable future character or Cone, weigh that loss before pulling.
