Its four outcomes all award the same reported experience, so choose based on how you think Geralt should handle the fraud. Dandelion’s separate Cabaret quest has its own décor choice.
When and where Witcher Wannabe becomes available
Witcher Wannabe follows the Lindenvale contract Contract: The Merry Widow. The cited walkthroughs differ on the exact wait: one says five days and another says roughly a week. Allow several in-game days, then return to Lindenvale and speak with the ealdorman. The guides are secondary walkthroughs, not official game documentation.

Go to the cemetery east of the village, deal with the ghoul, and use Witcher Senses to follow footprints to the suspicious man. The conversation reveals that he is pretending to be a witcher.
What each Witcher Wannabe choice does
Your first dialogue response determines whether Geralt exposes the impostor or covers for him. The next response decides his fate:

| Approach | Dialogue choices | Reported outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Expose him and hand him over | “Only one here,” then “Take him to the village elder.” | The elder decides his fate. Gamer Guides characterizes this as a harsh outcome, considering the elder’s treatment of thieves and the impostor’s conduct toward his daughter. |
| Expose him and show mercy | “Only one here,” then “Let him go.” | The villagers let him leave and warn they will set the hounds on him if he returns. |
| Cover for him and require restitution | “Took two Witchers to kill this ghoul,” then “He’s gotta work off his failure.” | He must work for the village for a year. On a later visit, he can be found working a field. |
| Cover for him and exile him | “Took two Witchers to kill this ghoul,” then “He’s not allowed to return to this village.” | He is banished. |
Is one Witcher Wannabe ending better?
The walkthroughs report no reward advantage or larger story consequence for any of the four endings. Gamer Guides reports 10 EXP for finding the fake witcher and 75 EXP for completing the quest, regardless of the choice. These are the in-game rewards reported by that guide, not independently tested values.
That leaves the decision to role-play. Exposing him is the truthful route; letting him go is the clearest act of mercy. Covering for him and requiring a year of work makes restitution the condition, while exile keeps him away from Lindenvale. The cited guides describe the choice as a matter of preference rather than a consequential story branch.

What Dandelion has to do with the choice
Dandelion appears in a different Novigrad quest thread. Cabaret follows A Poet Under Pressure and centers on Dandelion and the Rosemary and Thyme. Its décor decision offers a theatrical or boudoir look; a user-contributed walkthrough says the immediate effect is primarily aesthetic and that dialogue suggests Dandelion appreciates the theatrical option. That is not an outcome in Witcher Wannabe, and the walkthrough is not an official game reference.
