33 Immortals is worth playing through Game Pass Premium or Ultimate, and the roughly $15 base game is a sensible buy for a dependable co-op group. It is a 33-player action-roguelite built around short, coordinated raids rather than a solo campaign. Public matchmaking can become unreliable in the final realm, so solo players seeking a self-contained, long-lived roguelike should wait for a sale or try it through Game Pass first. Is 33 Immortals worth buying?
For a regular co-op group, yes. For an existing Game Pass Premium or Ultimate subscriber, it is an easy recommendation because the game is included while it remains in the catalog. The praise is consistent about the concept: TheSixthAxis describes MMO-style raiding distilled into a bite-sized roguelite, while HardZone highlights the unusual blend of fast action, roguelite progression, and large-scale cooperation. The reservations are equally consistent. SteamDeckHQ says the reliance on co-op prevents players from feeling powerful alone, and Siliconera reports that successful runs can become tedious when too much depends on other players.

How a run is organized
- Start in the Dark Woods hub, where Dante handles permanent upgrades using Eternal Shards and Paragons.
- Choose a weapon and enter Inferno with a field of up to 33 players.
- Survive encounters, collect temporary upgrades, combine effects with nearby allies, and revive fallen teammates.
- Progress to Purgatorio, where the player funnel narrows to 22 participants.
- Reach Paradiso with 11 players and face the final stretch and ultimate boss.
The 33-to-22-to-11 funnel is a gameplay system, not just a player-count headline. Large groups create spectacular moments early in a run, while later stages demand that the remaining players coordinate more closely. The number also references the 33 cantos in each of the three parts of Dante’s Divine Comedy.
Weapons, paths, and progression
Version 1.0 coverage identifies eight weapons: Bow of Hope, Sword of Justice, Daggers of Greed, Glaive of Temperance, Crossbows of Pride, Staff of Sloth, Hooks of Gluttony, and Scepter of Charity. The Crossbows of Pride and Glaive of Temperance arrived in the October 2025 Pride and Temperance update; Charity was added for 1.0.
Relic Paths provide longer-term build directions: Honor, Malice, Unity, Vainglory, Revenge, and Mercy. During a run, players adapt to temporary effects and coordinate Co-Strikes, which are strongest when allies remain close. After update 1.1, the optional Fate system can reset selected meta-progression after defeating Wrath of God with the Crown of Immortality. Currencies, cosmetics, the Archive, and the Compendium are preserved.

What platforms support 33 Immortals?
The 1.0 release is available on Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store/Xbox for Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Xbox Series X|S is the optimized console target, but the current Microsoft product page also lists Xbox One with cross-generation multiplayer and Smart Delivery.

Thunder Lotus confirms one matchmaking pool: Steam players can play with Epic and Xbox players. No official PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, or Switch 2 listing was present in the current storefronts, so those platforms should not be assumed.
Handheld and accessibility notes
LadiesGamers marks the Steam version as Playable on Steam Deck. SteamDeckHQ scored the handheld experience 70, describing co-op as solid but noting that allies can feel distant during chaotic battles. The Xbox store uses “Mostly Compatible” handheld language. Accessibility options listed by So Many Games include language selection, a screen-shake toggle, button remapping, visual-effects and resolution controls, and separate music and sound-effects volume settings.
Is 33 Immortals included with Game Pass?
The current Xbox product page says 33 Immortals is cloud playable and included with Game Pass Premium and Ultimate. Game Pass Essential requires buying the game to stream it. Microsoft has not published a leaving date, so catalog access is not a permanent ownership right.
The game launched in Early Access on March 18, 2025 as a day-one title for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and it remained in the library at the June 10, 2026 1.0 launch. Because Microsoft can change catalog membership, check the Game Pass badge in the Xbox app or on the Xbox product page immediately before deciding not to buy.

- Already have Premium or Ultimate: play the included version first; there is no reason to purchase the base game until you know your group will keep playing.
- Have Essential: the subscription does not remove the purchase requirement for cloud streaming, so buy the game if streaming is your preferred access method.
- Use Steam or Epic with friends: buy the PC version on the storefront where your group keeps its library; cross-play still connects the pools.
- Want permanent access: a standalone copy avoids the risk of a future catalog removal, but it does not guarantee healthy public lobbies.

GameBrief recorded a Steam price of $8.93, or 40% off the $14.89 list, on October 5, 2026. That promotion was not visible on the Steam page accessed October 29, so treat it as a past sale rather than a current price.
What the cosmetic packs contain
The Supporter’s Pack on Steam contains one Epic Cape, one Legendary Halo, one Epic Weapon Skin, one Legendary Pet, and eight Rare Emotes. The Immortal Menagerie Pack contains one Epic Cape, one Legendary Weapon Skin, one Epic Halo, one Legendary Cat Familiar, one Legendary Illumination, and eight Rare Emotes. Store descriptions state that these packs change character and equipment appearance and do not affect gameplay.
Steam lists individual cosmetic items from $5.99 to $9.99, including the $9.99 Original Soundtrack, $5.99 Eminent Elephant Pack, and $5.99 Chill Capybara Pack. Xbox lists packs such as Mighty Quakes, Infernal Flames, Ill Omens, Fierce Tides, Turbulent Winds, Good Luck, and Chromatic Chameleon at $5.99, plus the $8.99 Founder’s Pack and $9.99 Immortals Menagerie Pack. Can you play 33 Immortals solo?
Solo play is possible in private matches, but it is not the design target. Private lobbies scale difficulty with group size, allowing a determined player to attempt clears alone, while public matchmaking is the normal way to experience the 33-player structure.
Co-Strike abilities and other team effects reward staying near allies. That makes a premade group of two to four especially useful: friends can queue together and use emotes or Discord to call revives, combine effects, and regroup before a boss. Required voice chat is deliberately absent, but players who want raid-style precision will still benefit from an external voice channel.

The practical risk is the endgame. Reviews from So Many Games, GameBrief, SteamDeckHQ, and Siliconera all point to reliance on other players as a limitation. So Many Games reported needing a Discord group and private matches to finish Paradiso, while GameBrief later warned that thin lobbies make later bosses difficult to reach with random players. This is why Game Pass is the safest route for solo-curious players.
What changed between Early Access and version 1.0?
33 Immortals was announced in 2023 and entered Early Access or Game Preview on March 18, 2025 for Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox for Windows PC, and cloud streaming. Steam was held back so the Game Pass and Epic populations could seed a large cross-play pool.
- October 28, 2025: Pride and Temperance Update added Crossbows of Pride, Glaive of Temperance, Ordeals and Agony, Armor Break, and Feat Level 15.
- June 10, 2026: version 1.0 launched on Steam, Epic, and Xbox, adding Paradiso, the previously hidden ultimate boss, expanded customization, balance changes, and quality-of-life improvements. The Xbox storefront displays June 11, 2026, attributed to certification timing.
- September 9, 2026: Hotfix 1.1.1, listed by GameBrief as build 1.1.1.14541, followed update 1.1 and its optional Fate reset.
Steam demo saves carry into 1.0, but experimental beta-branch saves do not. Early Access saves from Epic or Xbox do not transfer to Steam. The game has exactly 33 achievements; none are permanently missable, although co-op achievements cannot be farmed entirely solo.

How should you choose between Game Pass, Steam, Epic, and Xbox?
- Check your subscription: if the Xbox app shows the Game Pass Premium or Ultimate badge, start there and avoid an unnecessary purchase.
- Confirm your group: ask whether at least one other player will queue regularly. A group changes the value proposition more than any cosmetic bundle does.
