Handheld versus docked play
Handheld mode preserves the game’s lighting, geometry and environmental detail well enough for jungle, cave and temple spaces to remain attractive, but fine image detail is less crisp than in docked play. The premise still gives the adventure a clear endpoint: Lara must deal with the consequences of triggering the Cleansing while attempting to avert a Mayan apocalypse. If you have played Tomb Raider and Rise, Shadow functions as the conclusion to that modern origin arc; if you have not, the game’s specific references and character history may carry less weight.
