Verdict: The 2024 Samsung Terrace LST9D (US model QN75LST9DAFXZA) is a premium 75-inch-class outdoor TV built for direct-sun viewing, not a conventional television placed on a patio. Samsung lists it at $9,999.99 in the United States. Its 4K Neo QLED panel, anti-reflection layer, 120 Hz refresh rate and IP56 durability make it unusually capable outdoors, but the price excludes the wall mount and installation. Samsung also limits how long the panel should face intense sun at high temperatures, so “full sun” does not mean unlimited exposure in every climate. What is the Samsung Terrace LST9D, and who is it for?

How much does the 75-inch Samsung Terrace cost?
Samsung’s US product information lists the QN75LST9DAFXZA at $9,999.99. That is a manufacturer list price shown for 2024, not a guaranteed street price; promotions, inventory and regional pricing can change. Check the live Samsung listing and authorized retailers immediately before ordering.
The headline price is for the television itself. A compatible wall mount is not included in the retailer listing, and installation is not included either. You should therefore price the display, a mount rated for its weight and VESA pattern, structural reinforcement if needed, weather-appropriate cable routing and professional labor as one project rather than treating the mount as an optional accessory.

Samsung’s specifications identify features and operating limits, but they do not establish a measured peak-brightness figure, glare percentage, viewing-angle test or multi-year outdoor failure rate. Those omissions matter when comparing this set with another outdoor display.
Is the Samsung Terrace LST9D actually weatherproof?
The LST9D is designed for outdoor exposure and carries an IP56 water-and-dust durability rating. IP56 indicates protection against dust ingress at the stated level and resistance to powerful water jets under the test conditions for that rating. It is not a guarantee that every installation, storm, spray pattern or condensation event is harmless.
Use the rating as one part of an installation plan. The wall, cables, outlets and source devices also need protection, and water must be able to drain rather than pool around the enclosure. A location under a roof overhang may reduce weather stress, but it does not automatically make an indoor-style installation acceptable. Follow Samsung’s placement and clearance instructions for ventilation, avoid blocking the enclosure, and account for wind-driven rain, salt air, pool chemicals and irrigation spray.

What IP56 does not promise
- It does not make the television submersible or suitable for pressure washing.
- It does not protect an incorrectly sealed cable connection or an indoor power strip placed outside.
- It does not remove the need for a stable mount, drainage and service access.
- It does not prove that damage from a particular site condition will be covered by warranty; confirm warranty terms for your region.
For coastal or humid locations, ask the installer how fasteners, cable glands and the supporting structure will resist corrosion. The TV’s enclosure rating cannot compensate for a rusting mount or an unprotected receptacle.
Can the Samsung Terrace LST9D be used in full sun?
Yes. Samsung markets the LST9D for full-sun outdoor use, and its anti-reflection treatment and Mini LED backlight are intended to keep images legible in direct daylight. However, Samsung’s own temperature note places a specific limit on extreme conditions: the set can operate in ambient temperatures up to 122°F, while the panel is protected for up to six hours of direct sunlight at 104°F to help prevent black spots. Brightness may decrease automatically when heat and sunlight become severe.
That qualification is important. “Full Sun” describes the product category and intended placement; it is not permission to leave the panel exposed to unlimited high-temperature sun every day. At a hot site, orient the screen to reduce the most intense reflected glare, provide the clearances Samsung specifies and consider a shade structure that still allows airflow. Do not cover a hot television with an airtight tarp, because trapped heat can be as damaging as rain.
How should you plan for heat?
- Measure the likely ambient temperature at the screen, not only the forecast temperature in a shaded area.
- Identify the hours when the panel receives direct sun and whether the surface behind it radiates additional heat.
- Leave the manufacturer-required ventilation space and keep heat-producing equipment away from the rear enclosure.
- Expect protective brightness reduction in extreme conditions; do not interpret a dimmer image on a very hot afternoon as an immediate panel failure.
- If the site regularly exceeds the stated limits, consult Samsung or an authorized installer before purchase.
How good is the picture for movies, sports and gaming?
The core picture hardware is strong on paper: 4K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, Quantum Matrix Mini LEDs, Neo Quantum HDR+ processing, anti-reflection treatment and a 100% color-volume claim. A 120 Hz panel can display fast sports motion and support high-frame-rate game sources when the source device and HDMI settings are compatible. Mini LED local dimming is intended to create brighter highlights and deeper dark areas than a basic edge-lit LCD.
Outdoor viewing changes the priority order. In a dark room, contrast and black uniformity dominate; on a patio, reflected light and screen visibility can matter more. The anti-reflection layer should reduce distracting reflections, but the available data contains no independent glare or brightness measurement. Your seating angle, nearby windows, pale walls and the color of the patio surface can therefore change the perceived result.

For gaming, verify that your console or PC can supply the desired resolution and frame rate, and reserve one of the three HDMI inputs for the device that needs the most bandwidth.

What smart-TV and connection features are included?
The LST9D runs Tizen and includes Bixby, Alexa support, Samsung TV Plus and a web browser. Networking is handled by Wi-Fi 5 or Ethernet. Bluetooth 5.2 supports compatible audio devices, while AirPlay provides a way to send supported content from Apple devices on the same network.
There are three HDMI inputs, one USB-A port, optical audio output and eARC. eARC is useful when an external receiver or soundbar needs higher-bandwidth audio formats, although the external equipment itself must be rated for the environment. Optical output is a fallback for older audio gear. Plan cable lengths and weather protection before mounting; replacing a cable behind a heavy, fixed display is more difficult than installing the correct one initially.
What the connection list means in practice
- Three HDMI ports: enough for a streaming box, game console and disc player or receiver, but count any HDMI switch or audio device in the system plan.
- eARC: sends compatible TV audio to an eARC-capable receiver or soundbar through HDMI.
- Ethernet: preferable when the wall location has a reliable wired run and wireless coverage is weak.
- Wi-Fi 5: adequate for many streaming setups, but the access point must reach the outdoor location without excessive interference.
- AirPlay and Bluetooth: convenient for personal devices and speakers, subject to network range and outdoor interference.
Is the built-in audio sufficient outdoors?
Samsung rates the internal system at 40 W RMS through four channels and includes Adaptive Sound Pro plus Bluetooth audio. That is more substantial than the speakers in many thin indoor televisions, but open spaces dissipate sound quickly and competing pool or party noise can overwhelm built-in speakers.
For casual viewing in a quiet, sheltered area, the internal speakers may be adequate. For a large seating area, music or sports parties, plan an external audio system. Use eARC or optical output for a fixed system, or Bluetooth for a compatible speaker when latency and weather protection are acceptable. Keep any external speaker, receiver and power supply within their own outdoor ratings; the TV’s IP56 rating does not extend to accessories.
Does the 75-inch Terrace include a wall mount?
No bundled mount is established in the retailer listing. Best Buy’s listing says the wall mount is not included and directs buyers toward Samsung’s Terrace mount for sets up to 75 inches. The TV uses a 400 × 400 mm VESA pattern and weighs 106.0 pounds without its stand, so a generic indoor mount is not automatically suitable.
Choose a mount whose published capacity exceeds the television’s weight, whose hole pattern matches 400 × 400 mm and whose materials and finish are appropriate for the site. A tilting or articulating mount can improve daytime viewing angles, but moving a 106-pound outdoor display increases leverage on the wall and requires careful locking and cable slack.

What must the wall support?
- The TV’s 106-pound mass plus the mount and any dynamic load from movement or wind.
- Fasteners anchored to structural framing, masonry or another substrate approved by the installer—not only siding or decorative cladding.
- A flat, rigid mounting surface that keeps the enclosure aligned and leaves the specified ventilation clearance.
- Weather-protected cable routes that do not pull on HDMI, power or network connectors.
Have two or more trained people handle the lift, and use a professional installer when the wall construction, height or exposure makes the load path uncertain.
How do you install the Samsung Terrace LST9D safely?
- Inspect the location. Confirm sightlines, direct-sun hours, wind-driven rain, drainage, ambient temperature and access for future service.
- Verify structure. Locate studs or confirm masonry strength, then calculate the combined load of the 106-pound TV and selected mount.
- Select the mount. Match the 400 × 400 mm VESA pattern and choose a product explicitly rated for the load and outdoor conditions.
- Plan power and signal paths. Use weather-appropriate boxes, conduit and cable glands; keep indoor equipment indoors unless it has its own outdoor rating.
- Mark and attach the bracket. Follow the mount manufacturer’s fastener and torque instructions, keeping the bracket level and structurally anchored.
- Attach the TV hardware. Use the supplied or mount-approved screws and spacers; do not force a screw that bottoms out or contacts internal components.
- Hang and secure the display. With adequate lifting help, engage the bracket fully, lock its safety mechanism and check for movement before connecting cables.
- Configure the TV. Connect Ethernet or Wi-Fi, update Tizen, sign in to streaming services and set the correct time zone and picture mode.
- Test in real conditions. Check reflections, viewing angles, HDMI devices, eARC or optical audio, network stability and remote-control range during both daylight and evening.
Keep installation documentation, model numbers and receipts. They simplify service calls and help prove that the mount and electrical work were sized for the display.
How far away should you sit from a 75-inch 4K screen?
The 4K resolution allows closer seating than a similarly sized 1080p set because individual pixels are less visible. A practical approach is to place the main seating where the screen fills a comfortable portion of peripheral vision, then test it with the content you actually watch. Sports viewers often prefer a slightly closer position for detail, while a broad patio audience may need a farther row for a clear angle across the screen.
Measure the intended seating arc before drilling the mount. Outdoor furniture is frequently rearranged, and a wall position that works for one chair can create severe reflections or an off-axis view for the rest of the group. If people will watch from both sides of a pool or yard, an articulating mount may help, but it adds mechanical complexity and wind load.

The largest risks are environmental, structural and service-related rather than smart-TV setup. Keep the rear ventilation area clear, inspect the mount and fasteners periodically for corrosion or loosening, and look for cracked seals or cable jackets after severe weather. Salt air, chlorine mist and fertilizer spray deserve extra attention because they can attack metal and plastics even when rain exposure is moderate.

The specification lists typical power consumption at 255 W. Actual use depends on picture mode, brightness protection, content and standby behavior, so multiply measured watt-hours by your local electricity rate rather than treating 255 W as a fixed monthly bill.
Is the Samsung Terrace LST9D worth $10,000?
It can be worth the price when direct-sun readability and a 75-inch screen are non-negotiable, the installation site is genuinely exposed and the project budget includes a mount and professional labor. The combination of outdoor durability, anti-reflection treatment, Mini LED backlighting, 120 Hz motion and a full smart-TV platform is unusual, which explains the premium.
It is harder to justify when the screen will spend most of its life under deep shade, when a smaller display would serve the seating area, or when you cannot provide structural mounting and protected power. In those cases, you may be paying for environmental capability you rarely use while accepting higher replacement and installation costs.

- Pause and compare if your site is shaded, your viewing distance is short or your wall cannot be reinforced for the load.
- Do not buy yet if the location regularly exceeds Samsung’s stated temperature and sunlight conditions or lacks protected electrical and network infrastructure.
For any comparison with another outdoor TV, evaluate direct-sun readability, anti-reflection performance, environmental and heat limits, screen size, smart platform, input support, mount and labor costs, warranty/service terms and total purchase price. No independent measurements in the available evidence establish a performance winner, so avoid choosing solely from marketing brightness language.
