The Samsung SRF9400BFH is a 636 L, four-door French-door refrigerator for households that want substantial storage and will use its connected food-management features. Its main trade-offs are equally concrete: it is wide and heavy, needs a plumbed water connection, and has a 3-star energy rating with claimed use of 569 kWh per year. It is most compelling if the large capacity and Family Hub features solve real household needs; buyers seeking only straightforward refrigeration may not get enough value from the screen and software to justify choosing it.
What do you get with the Samsung SRF9400BFH?
The SRF9400BFH is a matte-black, four-door French-door refrigerator with a total capacity of 636 L: 386 L for fresh food and 250 L for frozen food. CHOICE classifies it as an extra-large French-door model, a category it defines as 525 L or more. Those figures make it a high-capacity choice, but the split matters: households needing more freezer room should judge the 250 L freezer separately rather than relying on the total.
Samsung’s specification sheet lists a 21.5-inch touchscreen running Tizen 6.0, SmartThings connectivity, a camera, microphone and speaker, triple cooling with a metal cooling duct, an internal Beverage Centre with an auto-fill jug, and dual ice makers. This is not simply a large refrigerator with a screen added: the feature set is intended to connect food management, drinks and ice, and household controls through the appliance. Whether that is useful depends on how much you want those functions built into the kitchen.

Is the Samsung SRF9400BFH worth it?
It may be worth considering if you need a very large refrigerator and will actively use connected food management, the Beverage Centre or the ice makers. If you mainly want reliable cold storage, the smart-screen features may add cost and complexity without changing your day-to-day use. The available evidence does not establish a controlled performance advantage that would settle that decision for you.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Who is most likely to appreciate it?
- Households that need high capacity: The listed 636 L total is divided into 386 L of refrigerator space and 250 L of freezer space. Check whether that split fits your food-buying and meal-storage habits.
- People who want kitchen food-management tools: The touchscreen, camera and Samsung Food features are designed to support food lists and expiry-date management, while SmartThings adds connected control.
- Households that regularly use chilled water and ice: The internal Beverage Centre, auto-fill jug and dual ice makers are relevant if these features would see routine use. They require a water connection.
Who should look carefully at simpler options?
- Buyers who do not want a screen-led appliance: A conventional French-door refrigerator could be a better fit if the touchscreen and connected food-management tools are not useful to you. No directly comparable model pricing or test data is established here.
- People with limited kitchen space or difficult delivery access: At 912 mm wide and about 143 kg, this model requires more than a quick check of the cabinet opening.
- Buyers prioritizing low electricity use: Its 3-star label and claimed annual consumption should be weighed against your electricity tariff and any more efficient options available locally.
How useful are AI Vision Inside and Family Hub?
Samsung says AI Vision Inside can help identify up to 33 fresh-food items when they are put into or taken out of the refrigerator. Samsung also says Samsung Food lets owners create a food list and manage expiry dates. These are assistance features, not evidence of a complete, always-accurate inventory system: the published claim does not establish recognition for every grocery item or guarantee that the list will always match the contents.
The 21.5-inch touchscreen and Tizen 6.0 provide the interface for the connected experience, while the listed camera, microphone and speaker support appliance features. SmartThings connectivity places the refrigerator in Samsung’s connected-home ecosystem. The sources available for this review do not establish how well these functions work in everyday use, how long particular software features will remain available, or whether they will suit a household’s routines.
For a practical value test, consider whether you would regularly check a food list or expiry dates while planning meals, and whether a kitchen display is genuinely useful in the location where the refrigerator will sit. If your household already keeps food records elsewhere or rarely uses a shared kitchen screen, these features may matter less than the storage, installation and running-cost factors.

The cabinet measures 1,830 mm high, 912 mm wide and 723 mm deep, and weighs about 143 kg. Those are product dimensions, not a complete installation-clearance specification. - 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Measure the route in: Check the entrance, hallways, turns, lift or stairwell, and the kitchen opening. Do not assume the cabinet dimensions alone prove that delivery is possible; ask the retailer or delivery team what measurements they require.
- Check the final position: Measure the intended space and compare it with the manufacturer’s installation guidance, including clearance for ventilation and opening the doors and drawers. The figures above do not specify those allowances.
- Confirm water access: The water and ice systems require plumbing. Verify that a suitable water connection can reach the planned position and ask the installer or seller what connection work is needed for your home.
- Plan the move and placement: At about 143 kg, this is a heavy appliance. Confirm who is responsible for delivery, moving it into position and connecting the water supply before purchase.
A poor fit is costly and inconvenient to resolve after delivery. In particular, an opening that accepts the cabinet does not necessarily provide room for the doors to open, the appliance to be ventilated, or a delivery team to manoeuvre it into place.
Does the SRF9400BFH need plumbing?
Yes. Plumbing is required for its water and ice systems. If your kitchen has no suitable water connection, factor the work and installation arrangements into the purchase decision rather than assuming the beverage or ice features can operate as intended without one.
The specification information identifies an internal Beverage Centre with an auto-fill jug and dual ice makers, but it does not establish connection details, installation costs or what parts are included for a particular retailer or region. Confirm those points with the seller and installer before placing an order.

CHOICE’s 2024 review data lists a 3-star energy label and claimed consumption of 569 kWh per year. EveryModel estimates that amount at about A$182 per year using an assumed electricity price of 32 cents per kWh. That is an estimate, not a guaranteed bill: replace the assumed rate with your own tariff to get a more relevant figure.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
For example, the estimate follows the calculation 569 kWh × A$0.32 per kWh, which is about A$182. Your actual electricity cost depends on the rate you pay and the appliance’s real-world consumption; the cited annual figure is a product claim, not a measurement of your household’s use. Compare energy labels on locally available alternatives if running cost is a deciding factor.
What do the reviews establish about performance and reliability?
CHOICE and Consumer NZ expose performance-test categories but keep scores behind member access. As a result, the evidence available here does not support a claim about the SRF9400BFH’s controlled temperature performance, noise, reliability score or customer-satisfaction score. Consumer NZ’s product page was updated in September 2026, but its restricted scores are not available for this review.
ProductReview’s listing shows six reviews averaging 2.1 out of 5. That is a small, self-selected sample, not a reliability study. One verified owner praised the shopping-list feature and self-filling jug, while reporting poor support and an annoying retractable shelf. Those comments may help identify questions to ask, but they cannot establish how commonly other owners have the same experience.
For a purchase decision, distinguish three kinds of evidence: manufacturer specifications describe intended features; an energy claim gives a basis for estimating electricity use; and controlled testing or a larger, representative owner dataset would be needed to support broader performance or reliability conclusions. The latter scores are not available in the public evidence cited here.

What does the price and warranty tell you?
CHOICE listed the refrigerator at A$5,099 on its 2024 review page. That is a dated listing, not a current quote; prices and stock can change, so check the current price with retailers in your region before comparing value.
The listed standard warranty is two years. The specification sheet and retailer pages also state a 10-year warranty on the Digital Inverter Compressor. These are different warranty terms: the compressor coverage should not be read as ten years of full-appliance coverage. Confirm the written warranty conditions, exclusions and service arrangements that apply to the exact unit you are buying.

What is the verdict on the Samsung SRF9400BFH?
The SRF9400BFH is a large-capacity, feature-rich refrigerator whose strongest case is for households that want connected food-management tools alongside a plumbed water and ice setup. Its dimensions, installation needs and energy use deserve as much attention as its touchscreen: make sure it fits, confirm the water connection, and compare the stated kWh against other models before committing. If you do not expect to use the smart features, a simpler French-door model may be the more sensible direction, but public evidence here is not enough to name a better-performing alternative.
