The Samsung SR469MLS is a discontinued 469 L top-mount refrigerator/freezer with a roomy layout, frost-free cooling and a twist ice maker. Its capacity and conventional design may suit a household that needs substantial storage, but it is a used-appliance purchase now: inspect the individual unit carefully and confirm parts and warranty support before paying. CHOICE’s test record dates to 2015; owner feedback is mixed, and it does not establish how likely a particular fridge is to fail.
What is the Samsung SR469MLS?
The SR469MLS is a large-capacity, top-mount refrigerator/freezer: the refrigerator compartment sits below the freezer. CHOICE classifies it in the 451–525 L size category, records a total claimed capacity of 469 L and lists 2015 as its test year. CHOICE marks the model discontinued, and retailer listings also say it is no longer available.
Its main appeal is straightforward: a large claimed capacity in a familiar layout, without a plumbed water connection. The trade-off is that buyers are choosing among used units rather than shopping for a current model with assured availability. The condition of the particular refrigerator, its installation fit and the prospects for obtaining a compatible part matter more than the model name alone.
How much storage does it have, and will it fit?
CHOICE lists 338 L of claimed refrigerator volume and 131 L of claimed freezer volume. Published cabinet dimensions are 1,785 mm high, 700 mm wide and 726 mm deep; CHOICE’s recommended installation dimensions are larger, at about 189 cm high, 80 cm wide and 83 cm deep.

Measure the full route into the kitchen as well as the final opening: doorways, hall turns and stairs can be tighter than the installation space. The published depth is a cabinet figure, so verify the actual unit and its placement requirements rather than assuming the measurement includes every projection or the clearance needed behind and around it. The door hinge is on the right and the door is not reversible, so check that the swing works in your kitchen before arranging delivery.
What features does the SR469MLS have?
The listed features focus on everyday storage and cooling rather than a built-in water system.
- Frost-free cooling: the freezer uses frost-free operation.
- Air distribution: descriptions refer to multi-flow or all-around cooling.
- Interior and storage: LED lighting, tempered-glass shelves, easy-slide shelves, a moist-fresh zone and crisper storage are listed. Retailer descriptions also mention a multi-storage basket.
- Ice: a twist ice maker is listed.
- Water: there is no external water dispenser and no plumbing connection is required.
Retailer descriptions are useful for identifying the intended features, but a used appliance may be missing or have damaged removable parts. Check shelves, drawers, baskets and the ice maker in person, and confirm that the seller is including the components you expect.

How much energy does it use?
CHOICE’s 2015 test record lists a 3.5-star energy rating and claimed annual consumption of 375 kWh. Treat these as the published figures for the model, not a measurement of the unit you are considering: a refrigerator’s present condition and use cannot be determined from its old rating alone.
For a used-unit comparison, compare the SR469MLS’s claimed figure with the other refrigerator’s published energy information, but keep the age and condition of each appliance in view. If a seller cannot provide reliable information about the unit’s operating condition, its rating does not tell you whether it is cooling properly today.
Is the SR469MLS reliable, and what problems have owners reported?
Available owner feedback is mixed, and ratings from different sites are not a controlled reliability test. Appliances Online reports a 3.9 average customer rating; ProductReview reports 2.6 out of 5 from 13 reviews. Those reports are reasons to inspect a candidate unit, not proof that every SR469MLS develops a leak or that a particular refrigerator is sound. The ratings also come from different platforms and should not be read as a like-for-like comparison. Neither figure establishes a failure rate, the age or maintenance history of the reviewed units, or the condition of the one being offered for sale.

Arrange to see the refrigerator operating if possible. A quick exterior check cannot confirm that both compartments cool correctly, and a seller’s description is not a substitute for examining the unit.
- Confirm the model and what is included. Check that the appliance is actually an SR469MLS and identify which shelves, bins and ice-maker components come with it.
- Check cooling in both compartments. Ask the seller to have it running before the visit. Confirm that the refrigerator and freezer are cold, rather than relying on the sound of the compressor or a brief look inside.

Can you still get parts or warranty support?
The SR469MLS is discontinued, so do not assume that a replacement part, repair or warranty will be readily available. A BigWarehouse listing supports looking for model-specific replacement parts, including shelves, but live stock and exact compatibility are not established here. Before ordering, match the model number and the part’s dimensions to the component you need; a listing for the model does not guarantee that every item fits or is in stock.
CHOICE lists a two-year warranty. Retailer warranty notes also describe two years generally, but differ on whether an extended digital-inverter-parts warranty lasts 10 or 12 years. Be more cautious if the seller cannot demonstrate that both compartments cool, there is unexplained moisture near the light or crisper area, the door swing will not work, or the price assumes warranty or parts support that has not been confirmed. Compare it with another used refrigerator on usable storage, dimensions and swing, energy information, operating condition, repair history and realistic parts support—not just the original feature list.
