The Samsung QE50QN80H is a 2026 50-inch Neo QLED 4K TV with a notable size-specific limitation: Samsung specifies a 50 Hz panel and 4K 60 Hz maximum input on all four HDMI ports. The brand’s 144 Hz Motion Xcelerator and FreeSync Premium Pro claims do not apply to this size. Samsung’s published features make it possible to assess its specifications and fit, but they do not establish measured picture quality or an independent hands-on verdict.

This review covers the UK model QE50QN80HAUXXU. Samsung uses different SKU suffixes in other regions, so check the local model number before assuming these specifications apply to another market.

Is the Samsung QE50QN80H any good?

On paper, the QE50QN80H is a feature-rich mid-range 4K television: Samsung lists Quantum Mini LED contrast, HDR10+ support, a NQ4 AI Gen2 processor and Tizen smart TV. Those are manufacturer specifications, not proof of how bright the screen gets, how well it controls blooming, or how accurate its colors are. An August 2026 What Hi-Fi? preview likewise described the QN80H as promising on paper while saying it still needed a full review. No independent test results for this exact 50-inch model are established here.

Samsung’s UK product listing identifies the set as a 2026 model with a 50-inch, 3840 × 2160 display and a stated 50 Hz refresh rate. It lists HDR10+ Adaptive/Advanced and NQ HDR+; these feature names do not establish measured HDR brightness or local-dimming performance. Samsung UK’s QE50QN80H specifications are the basis for the details below.

Does the 50-inch QN80H support 4K 120Hz or 144Hz?

No. Samsung lists a 50 Hz panel refresh rate and maximum HDMI input of 4K 60 Hz for the 50-inch model. Its page explicitly says Motion Xcelerator 144Hz is not applicable to 50 inches, and FreeSync Premium Pro also does not apply. Samsung’s 4K 144Hz claim is limited to PC-connected content and does not override the 50-inch size-specific limits.

This distinction matters if you are buying for a high-refresh-rate gaming PC or console: do not treat QN80H marketing for larger sizes as evidence that the QE50QN80H accepts 4K at 120 Hz or 144 Hz. Samsung Australia’s 2026 specification sheet independently shows the size split: 4K 60 Hz maximum input for 50 inches, versus 4K 144 Hz for its listed 55-, 65- and 75-inch versions. Samsung Australia’s QN80H specifications are for a regional variant and corroborate that size distinction.

Who should consider the 50-inch QN80H?

  • Consider it if you want a 50-inch 4K Samsung TV with Mini LED branding, Tizen smart TV and the connectivity features Samsung lists.
  • Look carefully at the size-specific gaming limits if 4K 120 Hz or 144 Hz input is essential; Samsung specifies 4K 60 Hz maximum input for this version.
  • Wait for exact-model independent testing if your decision depends on measured HDR brightness, contrast, local dimming, motion, viewing angles, audio quality, input lag or value.
  • For another regional model, verify its complete SKU and local specifications rather than assuming the UK listing applies.

Which? has a listing for the exact QE50QN80H and identifies it as a 2026 release, but that listing does not establish test results. An August 2026 What Hi-Fi? preview also withheld a firm verdict pending a full review.
