Samsung’s HW-LS60D/XN Music Frame is worth considering if you want a discreet, wall-mountable speaker that looks like framed decor and streams from almost any major service. It is less compelling as a cinema replacement: the 120 W unit has only two output channels, so its Dolby Atmos support is processing of an Atmos signal rather than a discrete surround field. Independent listening reports also disagree on sound quality, ranging from disappointing to merely good. Samsung TV owners get the strongest case because Q-Symphony can combine compatible Samsung TV and audio hardware, while non-Samsung buyers should confirm which control and dialogue features remain available. This review explains the hardware, connections, Atmos limits, setup, placement and the buyers most likely to be satisfied.
What is the Samsung HW-LS60D/XN?
The HW-LS60D/XN is the regional Music Frame model: a 2.0-channel wireless speaker designed to resemble a square picture frame. You can place it on its supplied-style tabletop stand or mount it on a wall, making it an alternative to a conventional horizontal soundbar. Samsung lists Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optical input, plus AirPlay, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Alexa, Dolby Atmos, Q-Symphony and SpaceFit Sound Pro.
The product’s central compromise is visible in its specification. It is a single enclosure with two output channels, not a multi-speaker Atmos system. That makes it attractive for apartments, bedrooms and minimalist living rooms where a soundbar, subwoofer and rear speakers would be visually intrusive, but it limits the physical scale and directionality of the soundstage.

These figures are model documentation for HW-LS60D/XN and should not be substituted with specifications for similarly named Samsung soundbars. The regional “/XN” suffix matters when checking manuals, firmware and retailer listings.
Does the Samsung Music Frame support Dolby Atmos?
Yes. Samsung lists Dolby Atmos (Dolby Digital Plus) as a supported input, and the frame can decode or process that signal. It does not, however, create the same result as a system with separate height, center and surround speakers: the output remains two channels.
That distinction is important when a television or streaming box displays an Atmos badge. The source can contain Atmos metadata, but the Music Frame has no physically separate rear or overhead drivers. Expect a wider or more processed presentation rather than sounds independently arriving from above and behind you. The documentation also lists Dolby 5.1 and Dolby Digital Plus, while PCM support is limited to LPCM 2ch; a source set to multichannel PCM may need to be changed to bitstream or stereo output.

Atmos behavior can also depend on the source device and television. If a TV sends only stereo over Bluetooth, the frame cannot reconstruct the original Atmos information. For the most reliable result, use a connection and source setting that passes a supported Dolby Digital Plus signal, then verify that the TV is actually outputting the selected format.
Which streaming and connection features are included?
The HW-LS60D/XN is unusually flexible for a single framed speaker. Samsung and independent coverage identify the following paths:
- Wi-Fi: network playback and the basis for the frame’s network streaming features.
- Bluetooth: direct wireless playback from a phone, tablet or computer.
- Optical input: a wired digital connection for a television or another source.
- AirPlay 2: casting audio from compatible Apple devices and applications.
- Chromecast: casting from compatible apps and devices.
- Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect: handing playback from those services to the speaker while the phone acts as a controller.
- Roon Tested: What Hi-Fi lists the model as tested for use with the Roon platform; “Roon Tested” is not the same as a claim that every Roon feature is built into the speaker.
- Alexa: voice-assistant support, subject to account, language and regional availability.
Not every service or assistant is available in every country, and menus can change with firmware. Check the exact regional product page and current software before buying if one protocol is essential to you.
Does HW-LS60D/XN work with a television?
Yes, through optical, Bluetooth or a compatible Samsung wireless arrangement. Samsung TV owners have the most distinctive option: Q-Symphony can coordinate a compatible Samsung TV’s speakers with connected Samsung audio hardware so both devices contribute to the presentation.
Q-Symphony is not a universal television feature. It requires a compatible Samsung TV and compatible Samsung audio equipment, and the available behavior depends on the TV generation and firmware. If you own another brand of TV, the frame can still function as an external speaker through a supported connection, but you should not assume Samsung-only synchronization, wireless Atmos modes or enhanced-dialogue processing will be available.

When comparing a television’s built-in output with the frame, select one output path at a time unless the television explicitly supports simultaneous playback. Otherwise, a small delay between the TV and speaker can create an echo. Optical is generally the straightforward fallback when Bluetooth introduces latency or when the TV does not support the required wireless feature.
How do you set up the Samsung Music Frame?
Setup is intended to be simple, and Tom’s Guide reported easy setup while reviewing the related HW-S60D soundbar. The exact on-screen labels differ by television and region, so use the HW-LS60D/XN guide for the final menu names.
- Choose the location. Decide between the stand and wall mounting before connecting cables. With the stand, reserve a footprint of 353.0 × 364.8 mm and a height of 143.4 mm; without it, the body is 353.0 × 353.0 × 54.2 mm.
- Secure the hardware. For a wall installation, use the mounting method and fixing hardware specified for your wall type. The speaker weighs 4.2 kg without the stand, so do not rely on an undersized picture hook.
- Connect power. Place the frame where the power lead can reach without tension or a sharp bend.
- Connect the TV or source. Choose optical for a wired digital link, Bluetooth for a direct wireless link, or the compatible Samsung wireless method if your TV supports it.
- Join Wi-Fi if you want network playback. Follow Samsung’s regional setup flow, then test one service such as Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, AirPlay 2 or Chromecast before adding others.
- Set the TV’s audio output. Select the external speaker connection you used and set the digital-audio format to a mode the frame supports. If Atmos does not appear, test Dolby Digital Plus/bitstream rather than multichannel PCM.
- Check synchronization. Play speech and listen for an echo. If you hear one, disable simultaneous TV-speaker output or use the television’s available audio-delay control.
- Run room correction only after placement is final. SpaceFit Sound Pro is designed to adapt the response to the room; moving the frame afterward can invalidate the adjustment.
How does the HW-LS60D/XN sound?
Published listening impressions are mixed, and they should be treated as room-dependent observations rather than laboratory measurements. What Hi-Fi found the visual concept appealing but described the sound quality as disappointing. Its reviewer preferred the Music mode to Standard and Adaptive modes, and found that SpaceFit made bass too boomy in the test room.
Those comments do not prove that every room will sound boomy. Boundary proximity, wall mounting, furniture and source material all affect bass. If SpaceFit produces an over-heavy result, compare the corrected and uncorrected settings and use Music mode as the starting point identified in that review.
Tom’s Guide’s 1 June 2025 review covered the related HW-S60D rather than this exact HW-LS60D/XN model. It reported sound that improved on built-in television speakers but was “merely good, not great,” and noted that dialogue could be muffled. The same review said flagship wireless Dolby Atmos and enhanced-dialogue features were restricted to compatible Samsung TVs. Its conclusion—“There’s a lot to like on the S60D, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect”—is useful context, but it should not be read as a measured result for the regional Music Frame.
Together, these reviews suggest a clear expectation: the frame can be a meaningful upgrade over thin TV speakers, especially for casual viewing and music, but buyers seeking deep bass, crisp center dialogue or enveloping effects should consider a larger system with dedicated channels.
What are the best placement choices?
Wall mounting
Wall mounting makes the frame’s square design part of the room rather than another appliance on the media cabinet. Keep it at a sensible listening height and leave the clearances specified by Samsung’s guide. A solid wall can also make bass seem stronger than a freestanding placement, so reassess SpaceFit after installation.

The stand is useful when you rent, move frequently or want to change the frame’s position. It increases the documented depth and height to 364.8 mm and 143.4 mm, respectively, so measure the shelf rather than relying on the 353 mm square body dimension.

Near a television
Place the frame where its sound is not blocked by the TV or cabinet. Because the enclosure is 2.0 rather than a left-center-right bar, avoid assuming that shifting it far to one side will preserve a centered dialogue image. A central position generally makes speech easier to localize.
Is the Samsung Music Frame worth it?
It is a sensible purchase for a specific kind of buyer, not a universal best sound system.

Choose it when visual integration and streaming convenience matter as much as scale. Choose a conventional multichannel system instead when your priority is a physical surround field, dedicated low-frequency output or the clearest possible dialogue from a center channel.

How should you troubleshoot common problems?
Atmos is shown on the source but not heard as surround
Confirm that the source is sending Dolby Digital Plus rather than stereo or multichannel LPCM. Remember that the frame’s two-channel architecture cannot produce discrete height and rear channels even when the Atmos signal is accepted.
The bass sounds boomy
Compare SpaceFit Sound Pro on and off, then test Music mode. Reviewers’ room observations are not universal, and a wall or cabinet can reinforce low frequencies. Move the frame only after saving your preferred setting, because placement changes alter the result.
Dialogue is muffled
Check the source mix first, then compare the available sound modes and TV output paths. The related HW-S60D review reported muffled dialogue, so this is a reason to audition the frame with speech-heavy content rather than relying on music playback alone.
The TV and frame echo
Disable simultaneous TV-speaker output unless your television explicitly supports synchronized playback. Optical or a different wireless path may also reduce latency; use the TV’s audio-delay control if one is provided.
Q-Symphony is unavailable
Verify that both products are compatible Samsung models, that they are connected using a supported method and that firmware is current. Q-Symphony is not promised for non-Samsung televisions.

A streaming service cannot find the speaker
Confirm that the frame and phone are on the same network, then test Bluetooth to separate a network-discovery issue from a speaker fault. Regional service support and firmware can change, so check the current Samsung documentation for the “/XN” model.
What should you check before buying?
- Exact model: Search for “Samsung Music Frame HW-LS60D” or “Samsung HW-LS60D/XN,” and make sure the listing is not for the related HW-S60D soundbar.
- Region: Confirm that the retailer, power specification, warranty and voice-assistant availability match your country.
- TV compatibility: Check the television model’s Q-Symphony and wireless-audio support instead of assuming every Samsung TV offers the same features.
- Mounting plan: Measure the wall or shelf and verify what mounting hardware is included in the regional package; the available documentation establishes dimensions but not every retailer’s bundle contents.
- Sound expectations: Listen to dialogue, bass-heavy tracks and Atmos content if possible. The 120 W rating is Samsung’s specification, not a guarantee of room-filling bass.
- Price: Compare current local listings. Tom’s Guide’s June 2025 prices of $349 MSRP in the United States and £359 RRP in the United Kingdom were for the related HW-S60D, not HW-LS60D/XN, and must not be used as this model’s price.
Who should buy the HW-LS60D/XN?
Buy it if you own or plan to own a compatible Samsung TV, want Q-Symphony, value a framed object over a conventional bar and use several streaming ecosystems. It is also a reasonable upgrade for someone whose main goal is cleaner, fuller audio than a television can provide without adding multiple boxes.
Skip it in favor of a genuine multichannel system if your priorities are convincing overhead effects, strong low-end impact, highly intelligible dialogue or a large-room cinema presentation. The Music Frame’s appeal is the balance of appearance, convenience and adequate improvement—not a replacement for a physically separated Atmos installation.

Is the HW-LS60D/XN the same product as the HW-S60D?
No. The HW-LS60D/XN is the regional Music Frame speaker, while HW-S60D is a related soundbar covered in a separate review. Features and review results for the soundbar should not be treated as a complete specification or test of the Music Frame.
Can I use the Music Frame with an iPhone?
Yes, AirPlay 2 support provides a compatible wireless route from Apple devices and apps. Bluetooth is another option when an app does not offer AirPlay, while network casting requires the phone and speaker to be configured on the same network.
Does Dolby Atmos on this speaker support lossless TrueHD?
Samsung’s listed format is Dolby Atmos carried by Dolby Digital Plus, alongside Dolby 5.1 and Dolby Digital Plus. The documentation does not list Dolby TrueHD or multichannel LPCM, so a source may need to output a supported Dolby Digital Plus stream.
Can I add a subwoofer or rear speakers later?
The documented product is a standalone 2.0-channel speaker and does not establish that a subwoofer or rear-speaker expansion is included or supported. If expansion is important, verify the exact regional compatibility list before purchase rather than assuming it behaves like a modular soundbar system.
