The Galaxy S20+ BTS Edition is a specially styled version of Samsung’s Galaxy S20+, not a separate phone generation. Samsung’s launch materials highlight a purple BTS-themed exterior, pre-installed BTS-inspired themes and Weverse, and bundled stickers and member photo cards. Samsung also said its camera was the same as the standard Galaxy S20+ camera, but that does not establish that every specification was identical across regional and LTE/5G models.
What changed on the Galaxy S20+ BTS Edition?
Samsung announced the edition in June 2020, with general availability described for July that year. The documented differences are chiefly its appearance and fan-oriented inclusions.
| Comparison | Galaxy S20+ BTS Edition | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Exterior | Purple glass and metal with BTS and purple-heart design elements; Samsung Korea described the finish as Haze Purple. Samsung Global Newsroom; Samsung Newsroom Korea | A themed finish and collectible design, not evidence of a new phone platform. |
| Software | BTS-inspired themes and Weverse were listed as included or pre-installed at launch. Samsung Global Newsroom | These describe the launch package; they do not guarantee that a service or content remains available today. |
| In-box extras | Decorative stickers and member photo cards. Samsung Global Newsroom; Samsung Newsroom US | These are bundled items, and a used phone may not include them. |
| Camera | Samsung said the edition had the same pro-grade camera as the Galaxy S20+. Samsung Global Newsroom; Samsung Newsroom US | This supports a camera comparison, not a blanket claim that every component or specification matched every standard S20+ variant. |
| Connectivity and market | Samsung’s global announcement described LTE and 5G versions in some markets; the Korean announcement specified a 5G domestic model. Samsung Global Newsroom; Samsung Newsroom Korea | Check the exact model and network version for the relevant market and carrier. |
Was the BTS Edition a different phone?
It was a Galaxy S20+ variant with edition-specific styling and bundled content, rather than a separate Galaxy generation. Samsung’s public launch materials establish the design, software and package differences above, and specifically compare the camera with that of the standard S20+. They do not establish that every technical detail was identical across all regional and LTE/5G variants, so compare the precise model number if hardware equivalence matters.
Galaxy Buds+ BTS Edition was a separate product
Samsung announced the Galaxy Buds+ BTS Edition separately from the phone. The earbuds had purple coloring and BTS and purple-heart imagery, with member photo cards. Samsung Korea’s support page identifies the model as SM-R175 and lists a Smart Buds+ Cover and seven photo cards among the package contents. Samsung Korea product support
