For gaming, the RX 9060 XT 16GB is the stronger starting point if its current price fits your budget and you want more video memory. The RTX 5060 is worth choosing when it costs substantially less or you prefer NVIDIA’s DLSS and Frame Generation support. Treat the RX 9060 XT 8GB as a separate, lower-memory option—not as a substitute for the 16GB model. There is no universal winner: the right buy depends on the exact card price, your games, settings and priorities.
RTX 5060 vs. RX 9060 XT: the key differences
The RTX 5060 comes with 8GB of GDDR7 memory. AMD sells the RX 9060 XT in both 8GB and 16GB versions, so check the memory capacity in the product name before comparing prices or performance.
| Card | Memory | Published specifications | Observed U.S. listings, October 4, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 | 8GB GDDR7 | 3,840 CUDA cores; 2.50 GHz boost clock, according to NVIDIA’s official specifications. | $379.99 at Best Buy, $439 at Walmart and $459.99 at Newegg, according to PC Gamer’s price watch. |
| AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB | 8GB | 32 compute units; AMD lists 150W reference board power. Partner-card specifications can differ, according to AMD’s June 2025 specification sheet. | $449.95 at Amazon, $459.99 at Best Buy and $479.99 at Newegg, according to PC Gamer’s price watch. |
| AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB | 16GB | AMD lists 32 compute units and PCIe 5 x16 for the RX 9060 XT family; check the exact partner card for its full specifications. See AMD’s specification sheet. | $499.99 at Walmart and $519.99 at both Amazon and Best Buy, according to PC Gamer’s price watch. |
The prices are retailer-specific U.S. listings reported by PC Gamer on October 4, 2026, not market averages or guaranteed current prices. Listings can change, and different partner-card designs may have different prices. Check the exact card and live price before buying.
How do they compare in games?
Available results point to the importance of the particular game, resolution and test setup; they do not establish a single all-games performance percentage for the RTX 5060 versus the RX 9060 XT.

One direct game comparison
In GamersNexus’s 4K Resident Evil 4 test, the RX 9060 XT 16GB averaged 56 FPS versus 46 FPS for the RTX 5060. That result applies to that game and test context; it should not be read as a general performance lead. GamersNexus’s RX 9060 XT review also flags VRAM limitations affecting the 8GB RX variant.
Other results have different scopes
TechRadar reports its RX 9060 XT test set averaged 95 FPS for the 8GB card and 102 FPS for the 16GB card at 1080p. Those are TechRadar’s results for its own test set, not a direct RTX 5060 comparison or a promise of the same frame rates in your games. See its budget graphics-card guide.
Tom’s Hardware includes the RTX 5060 in an RX 9060 XT comparison table, but says it did not conduct a standalone RTX 5060 review. Its table is useful context, not a comprehensive independent review of both cards. See Tom’s Hardware’s RX 9060 XT review.
For a decision tied to your own games, prioritize independent tests that match your resolution and settings. A result from one title, a different test suite or a vendor’s comparison slide may not predict what you will see.

NVIDIA promotes DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation for the RTX 5060 family in its April 2025 launch announcement. AMD lists FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 for the RX 9060 XT in its product sheet. These features can affect the experience in supported games, but support, image quality, latency and frame-generation behavior vary by title and settings. Vendor feature descriptions do not guarantee a particular increase in usable frame rate.
If a feature matters to you, check whether the games you actually play support the relevant implementation and compare results using the settings you expect to run. Do not choose based on a feature label alone.

Which card should you buy?
Choose the RTX 5060 when the price is clearly lower
If the RTX 5060 is meaningfully cheaper than the RX 9060 XT options available to you, it can be the more sensible 8GB purchase—particularly if you value NVIDIA’s supported DLSS and Multi Frame Generation ecosystem. Compare live prices rather than assuming the launch price still reflects what a card costs today.
Choose the RX 9060 XT 16GB for more memory headroom
If the 16GB RX 9060 XT is close enough in price to fit your budget, its extra memory gives you more headroom than either 8GB card. That makes it the AMD version to consider when you want to avoid treating the RX 9060 XT 8GB and 16GB as equivalent buys. The value still depends on the actual listings and the games and settings you use.

Consider the RX 9060 XT 8GB only as its own value option
The 8GB RX 9060 XT may make sense at a price that compensates for its smaller memory capacity, but the October 4, 2026 U.S. listings in PC Gamer’s snapshot put it above the RTX 5060 examples. Since GamersNexus documents VRAM limitations in at least some test contexts, weigh the exact price and your intended games rather than buying it simply because it carries the RX 9060 XT name.
Let your local listing decide when prices reverse the choice
The October 4, 2026 U.S. price snapshot is only a point-in-time example. A sale, stock change or regional difference can alter the value comparison. Compare cards available in your market on the same day, matching the RX 9060 XT’s 8GB or 16GB capacity to the RTX 5060’s 8GB.
Check compatibility before ordering
Specifications vary by partner-card model, so use the exact product page—not just the GPU name—for the final fit check.
- Case clearance: Compare the card’s length and thickness with the space available in your case.
- Power connection: Confirm that your power supply has the connector required by the specific card.
- Power-supply guidance: Check the manufacturer’s recommendation for the exact board and your system. AMD says partner specifications can differ; the available sources do not establish a universal PSU recommendation for either comparison.
For historical context, NVIDIA announced the RTX 5060 family in April 2025 with a starting price of $299. AMD’s RX 9060 XT launched in June 2025 at about $299/$349–$300/$350 for the 8GB/16GB models, depending on source reporting. Those launch figures are history, not current buying prices.
