Third-party listings repeatedly report 80W wired charging, but battery size, water-resistance rating, software support and eSIM details remain unconfirmed or inconsistent. Is the Realme 17 Pro+ officially launched?
No official realme 17 Pro+ product page or launch announcement was found as of October 26, 2026. Smartprix, WhatMobile and other databases describe it as upcoming or expected, so any model-specific specification should be treated as provisional.
An expected phone can change between an early database entry and the retail version. A regional launch may also use a different memory, modem, SIM tray, battery or charging package. Until realme posts a page for the relevant country, a retailer’s specification is not the same as a manufacturer commitment.

What this means for a buyer
- Do not assume that an advertised feature will be present on every regional SKU.
- Ask for the exact model number, launch region and written return terms before ordering.
- Verify the final realme product page, packaging label and software-support statement when the phone becomes available.
How fast does the Realme 17 Pro+ charge?
Several third-party listings report 80W wired charging. Smartprix pairs that figure with an 8,000 mAh battery, while WhatMobile lists 7,000 mAh; Tecknologia also lists 80W charging. Because realme has not confirmed the 17 Pro+ specification, the accurate description is “reported 80W wired charging,” not a guaranteed charging speed.
Why the 80W number may not equal your charging experience
Phone charging ratings are peak capabilities measured under controlled conditions. The phone can reduce power as the battery fills, when it becomes warm, or when the screen is active. A compatible charger, cable, regional firmware and charging protocol are all required to approach the advertised maximum.
The listings do not establish whether an 80W adapter is included in the box, which protocol the phone uses, or whether the same adapter is supplied in every country. Do not buy a replacement charger until the final manual identifies the required realme charging system and cable rating. A generic USB-C charger may charge the phone more slowly even when its wattage looks similar.

How to check charging after launch
- Read the regional realme product page and box contents for the adapter’s rated output.
- Check the phone’s model number and firmware region in Settings before comparing tests or accessories.
- Use the supplied cable and an approved adapter for the first charge; third-party cables can limit current.
- Compare charging time from a known battery percentage, with the screen off and the phone at room temperature. A retailer’s “minutes to full” claim is meaningful only when those conditions are stated.
Is the Realme 17 Pro+ waterproof?
Water resistance is claimed but unverified. Smartprix reports an IP69 Pro rating and immersion to 2 metres for 30 minutes. WhatMobile lists IP68/IP69K and high-pressure-water resistance, while GadgetLink also reports 2 metres for 30 minutes. These are conflicting third-party claims, and no official certification document for the 17 Pro+ was found.

What IP ratings would normally tell you
IP codes describe tested protection against specified solids and water exposure; they do not mean a phone is waterproof in every situation. IP68 parameters, including depth and test duration, are set by the manufacturer and certification conditions. IP69 or IP69K relates to high-temperature, high-pressure water jets, which is a different test from sustained immersion. A label such as “IP69 Pro” is not enough to establish an official rating without a realme specification or certification record.
Safe handling until the rating is confirmed
- Do not deliberately submerge a rumored 17 Pro+ in a pool, bath or sea.
- Keep charging ports dry; never connect a cable while moisture is present.
- Rinse salt, chlorine or dirty water only if the final manual explicitly permits it, and dry the phone as instructed.
- Assume liquid damage may be excluded from warranty coverage even on a certified device.
A retailer’s claim of “2 m for 30 minutes” should therefore be treated as an unverified specification, not as permission to use the phone underwater.
How many Android and security updates will it get?
No authoritative update schedule for the Realme 17 Pro+ was found. Tecknologia claims Android 16 with realme UI 7.0, three years of operating-system updates and four years of security updates, but realme has not corroborated those claims for this model.
Realme’s official security catalog contains support entries for other phones, including the realme 16 Pro+ 5G. The retrieved catalog did not list a 17 Pro+, so the 16 Pro+ entry cannot be used as proof of the newer phone’s support period.

What to look for in a real support promise
- The exact model name or model number, not a family reference.
- The Android version installed at sale and the date from which support is counted.
- A stated end date or number of major Android upgrades.
- A separate security-patch period and delivery frequency.
- Any regional exclusions, carrier delays or bootloader restrictions.
If a listing repeats “three OS updates and four years of security,” save a copy of the manufacturer’s written policy when available. A retailer database entry alone is not an enforceable realme support commitment.
Does the Realme 17 Pro+ support eSIM?
eSIM support is unresolved and may vary by market. Tecknologia says the 17 Pro+ does not support eSIM, while realme’s official 16 Pro+ documentation shows eSIM support in the EU configuration and no eSIM support in other configurations. That regional difference makes a blanket yes-or-no answer unsafe.
How to verify eSIM before purchase
- Obtain the exact regional model number from the seller, not just the product name.
- Ask the carrier to confirm that this model’s IMEI or EID can be activated on its network.
- After unboxing, open Settings and look for SIM management options such as “Add eSIM” or “Download a SIM.”
- Check the box or regulatory label for an EID. A device with only physical SIM identifiers may not have an eSIM.
- Confirm whether the phone supports dual-SIM operation with eSIM, because using an eSIM can disable one physical-SIM slot on some configurations.
Do not rely on a marketplace title that says “5G dual SIM.” That phrase can describe two physical nano-SIMs and does not establish eSIM capability.

What should you verify before buying a Realme 17 Pro+?
Use this sequence when a listing appears before the official launch documentation.
- Confirm the seller’s region. Import listings can carry a different modem, SIM configuration, warranty and charger.
- Request the model number. A name such as “17 Pro Plus 5G” is not sufficient to identify a regional SKU.
- Check realme’s regional site. Look for a product page, downloadable specifications and a support-policy statement matching that model number.
- Verify network compatibility. Ask your carrier about supported 4G, 5G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling and eSIM functions.
- Read the box contents. Confirm whether the adapter and cable are included and what output they support.
- Inspect return and warranty terms. Imported or pre-release units may have seller-only service and may not qualify for local repair.
- Test the delivered unit immediately. Record the model number, IMEI, EID status, charging behavior and any liquid indicators before the return window closes.
Is it sensible to preorder before realme confirms the phone?
Preordering is a risk decision rather than a specification decision. An early listing may secure stock or a promotional price, but it cannot resolve the conflicting battery, IP-rating and eSIM claims. If those features determine your purchase, wait for a regional realme page or choose a documented model instead.
If you proceed, use a payment method with buyer protection, avoid irreversible deposits, and obtain written confirmation of the exact SKU, charger, warranty, return period and software-support terms. Keep the listing and correspondence because specifications can change before dispatch.

The most repeated hardware claim is 80W wired charging, but even the battery capacity differs between databases. Frequently Asked Questions
Will an 80W charger always charge the phone at 80W?
No. The phone negotiates power with the adapter and may lower the rate as the battery fills or the device heats up. Cable quality, firmware and the charging protocol can make a nominally high-wattage charger deliver less power.
Does an IP69 claim make a phone safe for swimming or seawater?
No. Jet-resistance and immersion are separate tests, and neither is a guarantee against chlorine, salt, pressure changes or liquid damage over time. Follow the final manual and warranty terms rather than using an unverified rating as an underwater-use guarantee.
How can I tell whether an imported unit is the EU eSIM version?
Ask for the complete model number and check that the phone exposes an EID and an Add eSIM option in SIM settings. Your carrier should also confirm activation for that IMEI; a seller’s EU label alone is not sufficient.

Request the promise in writing for the exact model and region, then compare it with realme’s own support policy when published. If the statement appears only in a retailer database, treat it as marketing information rather than a manufacturer commitment.
