In PlayStation’s launch announcement, LISA said, “Gaming is something I do whenever I have time to relax.” The collaboration is merchandise as well as a playable controller, so it helps to decide whether yours is primarily for use, display or long-term storage before choosing how to care for it.
Choose a care plan before you unpack it
A display-only plan minimizes touching and surface contact. Keep the controller on a stable stand or in a suitable case, disconnect it when practical and handle it only when dusting or checking its condition. This approach reduces wear from repeated handling, but a battery-powered controller should not simply be forgotten; PlayStation says to charge it at least once a year when it has been unused for an extended period.
A play-and-display plan accepts more handling in exchange for using the controller. Do not turn general internet advice into a stronger recommendation than the manual. In particular, an alcohol wipe, wet wipe, household cleaner or “electronics-safe” solvent is not made appropriate merely because it is sold for another device. Where should I display the controller?
Choose a clean, stable spot away from direct sunlight, high heat, high humidity, dust, smoke and steam. Avoid windows that receive direct sun, radiators, hot-air vents, kitchens, bathrooms and areas with frequent vibration. Can I remove the controller’s faceplate to clean underneath it?
