Our verdict on Z Dispense

Z Dispense is pharmacy dispensing software for community pharmacies, with a focus on paperless prescription workflows. It supports general, private, and other script types while showing patient medication history and medication details during dispensing. Pharmacists can work in Barney or Rapidfire layouts, view stock on hand and pricing, and review sales history and gross profit without leaving the dispensing workflow. Its stated fit is small and mid-market community pharmacies.

Electronic prescription handling is the product’s clearest strength. Scripts can enter through token scanning, StoreQ, or Active Script List workflows, then be queued for processing or handled in batches. Repeat tokens can be sent by SMS or email, with annotations available for added context. MIMS integration adds medicine, interaction, consumer, and prescribing information, while eRx, Medisecure, and Active Script List connect the dispensing process to named e-prescription services. Pharmacies prioritising detailed script processing and paperless queues should find this feature mix relevant.
