Our verdict on WISP
WISP is a web-based game server control panel for gaming communities, beginners, and hosting providers. It manages servers across providers and supports Docker-based infrastructure, with tools for monitoring, file management, automated backups, mod and plugin management, modpack installation, workshop downloads, scheduling, audit logs, user access controls, and node provisioning. Community plans suit operators managing their own dedicated or virtual servers, while Enterprise is aimed at providers that need customer-facing hosting features.
The plan structure separates basic operation from provider-oriented capabilities. Personal is free and includes basic features, but is limited to one node. Community costs $5 USD per node per month and adds all basic features, game-specific features, and installation support. Enterprise costs $10 USD per node per month and adds host-specific features, white-label branding, enterprise support, an application API, a WHMCS module, and the ability to use your own domain. The published plans price these tiers by node rather than by managed game server, which is an important consideration for hosting businesses modeling operating costs.
WISP’s ecosystem fit is strongest for operators that need automation around infrastructure and account management. It supports S3-compatible storage for backups and integrates with Docker, Pterodactyl, and WHMCS; WHMCS integration and the application API are reserved for Enterprise. Server migration between locations or nodes, granular access controls, audit logs, scheduled power operations, and automatic restarts extend the panel beyond basic server launching. Choose WISP if provisioning, migration, backups, and hosting workflows matter. Personal is better suited to a small single-node setup, while providers needing branding, billing integration, or API access should plan for Enterprise.
