Our verdict on ttl.sh

ttl.sh is a free, anonymous container registry for developers, local development, open-source projects, integration testing, and CI/CD workflows. It accepts Docker images and other OCI artifacts without accounts, credentials, or configuration. Users set a time-to-live in the image tag, allowing temporary images to expire automatically. The published default TTL is one hour, with a maximum of 24 hours, making the service suited to short-lived exchanges rather than a permanent image repository.

Its strongest fit is broad tooling support combined with a narrow, useful workflow. ttl.sh supports Docker, Podman, Helm charts, and OCI-compatible tooling, while integrations include GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, and Jenkins. Global CDN-backed delivery is designed for image distribution across pipeline and development environments. This combination keeps temporary image sharing simple when a workflow needs to push an image, let another job or collaborator pull it, and avoid account setup or registry configuration.

The same temporary design limits its role. Automatic expiration helps prevent short-lived artifacts from lingering, but it also makes ttl.sh unsuitable for images that need dependable long-term retention, controlled access, or governed release management. The service does not provide access controls, verified scanning, tag immutability, persistence guarantees, or enterprise governance. Choose ttl.sh for disposable CI/CD artifacts and temporary OCI sharing; choose a registry with persistent storage and security administration for production images, regulated workflows, or durable distribution.
