Our verdict on Trigo

Trigo is an open-source RDF triplestore and SPARQL query engine written in Go. It is designed for teams that want self-hosted RDF storage with a lightweight deployment model, or developers who prefer to embed a store through a Go library. The project can run as a standalone server and provides a web interface for interactive queries, alongside API access through its W3C SPARQL 1.1 HTTP endpoint.

Its strongest area is the core RDF and SPARQL feature set. Trigo stores RDF triples and quads, supports named graphs, and accepts Turtle, N-Triples, N-Quads, TriG, RDF/XML, and JSON-LD serialization formats. The published architecture uses BadgerDB-backed storage with an 11-index design, giving the product a defined storage approach for indexed RDF data. SPARQL 1.1 support and the HTTP endpoint make it suitable for applications that need standards-based querying rather than a basic document store.

Trigo is most appropriate when a focused, Go-based RDF component fits the application and the team is comfortable managing a self-hosted service. The standalone server, interactive web query interface, and Go integration cover several practical ways to work with the product. Its narrower scope is less suitable for teams that require a wider integration ecosystem, federation, or reasoning capabilities. Choose Trigo for direct RDF triple and quad storage with SPARQL 1.1; consider alternatives when distributed querying or broader platform coverage is central to the project.
