Toggl Track is a time-tracking application for individuals and teams, including consultancies, agencies, professional services firms, and internal product or operations teams. It records time through real-time timers, manual entries, calendar and timesheet views, desktop tools, and browser extensions. Work can be organized around clients, projects, tasks, and billable rates, with support for web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Chrome, and API access.
The freemium structure gives teams a practical starting point. The Free plan includes time tracking across web, desktop, and mobile, browser-extension integrations with 100+ tools, Google and Outlook Calendar integrations, and productivity reports. Starter costs $9 per user per month when billed annually and adds billable rates, project estimates and alerts, revenue and productivity analysis, and project tasks. Premium expands the reporting and control layer with profitability analysis, fixed-fee projects, scheduled reports, timesheet approvals, Jira and Salesforce integrations, and single sign-on. Enterprise adds custom solutions and integrations, personalized onboarding, a dedicated customer success manager, and multiple workspaces under one organization.
For teams that need more than basic timers, Toggl Track’s reporting and workflow depth is the main differentiator. It supports summary, detailed, workload, billing, profitability, and utilization reports, along with CSV, PDF, JSON, and account-data exports. Timesheets can be submitted, reviewed, approved, rejected, and locked, while estimates, budgets, alerts, and fixed-fee projects support project oversight. Integrations include Slack, Asana, QuickBooks, calendars, Jira, Salesforce, webhooks, and reporting APIs. Choose it for mature reporting and structured approvals; choose a simpler tracker if those controls and integrations are unnecessary.
