Where it wins
- Distributed native parallel graph processing for highly connected data
- Hybrid graph and vector search with graph algorithms and AI/ML tools
- Managed cloud and self-managed Linux, Docker, or Kubernetes deployment
Where it doesn't
- Savanna pricing is usage-based and storage is billed separately
- Advanced capacity and availability features require higher-tier plans
- The platform may exceed the needs of teams seeking a narrow graph database
Our verdict on TigerGraph
TigerGraph is a distributed graph database and analytics platform for enterprises working with highly connected data. It supports real-time graph updates, massively parallel processing, graph algorithms, GSQL, OpenCypher, and GQL, along with vector and hybrid graph-vector search. GraphStudio provides visual design, loading, querying, and visualization, while REST APIs and generated JavaScript, cURL, and Python integration code support application development. Typical applications include fraud detection, entity resolution, customer intelligence, knowledge graphs, and AI applications.
TigerGraph offers both managed and self-managed deployment. Savanna is a fully managed cloud service with automatic backups, automatic and rolling upgrades, multiple read/write and read-only workspaces, and private cloud deployment availability. The Savanna Free Trial is priced at $0 per GB per month, while Savanna starts at $45 per GB per month with monthly billing. Savanna Business Critical costs $126 per GB per month and adds multi-zone availability and performance, 99.95% uptime, and premium support. TigerGraph Community is a free, self-managed single-server deployment with up to 300 GB of combined graph and vector storage. Enterprise adds high availability, disaster recovery, enterprise RBAC and security, rolling upgrades, and support.
Its ecosystem covers AWS S3, Apache Kafka, REST APIs, GraphQL, Python, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Snowflake, and Spark. Self-managed deployments run on Linux, Docker, or Kubernetes, while the managed service can scale to 512 vCPUs and 4 TB of RAM per workspace. The combination of parallel processing, multiple query languages, graph algorithms, connectors, and visual tooling suits large analytics and AI workloads. Teams needing broad deployment and search capabilities should consider TigerGraph; smaller projects with simpler data relationships may prefer a narrower graph product.
