Swappa connects people buying and selling used technology directly, with listings spanning phones, laptops, tablets, wearables, computers, gaming consoles, audio, cameras, drones and home tech. It suits buyers looking across several device types and sellers who prefer a peer-to-peer marketplace to a partner-run trade-in. The service is available on the web, iOS and Android, and staff review listings before approval. Devices must meet listing criteria, including functionality and a clean IMEI or ESN.
The fee structure keeps listing free, but a completed sale is not cost-free for sellers: they pay 3% of the sold price plus payment-processing fees. Buyers also pay a 3% fee on the sale. Sellers arrange and pay for standard shipping, which Swappa describes as free to buyers. These terms make the marketplace most suitable for users comfortable with direct transactions and seller-managed shipping; anyone comparing a sale against a trade-in should account for fees and shipping rather than treating free listing as a free sale.
