Our verdict on PLAYit
PLAYit brings video and music playback together with local media management, with particular emphasis on Android devices and SD cards. It scans those locations and plays video formats including 4K, 1080p, MKV, FLV, 3GP, M4V, TS, and MPG, alongside WAV, MP3, and AAC audio. The apps are available for Android, iOS, and Windows, so it may suit people who want a free player across mobile and desktop, especially those organizing files on Android. Its feature set also reaches beyond basic playback into subtitles, conversion, and music tools.
Subtitle search covers English, Hindi, and Tamil, while floating-window and background playback let video continue outside the main viewing screen. Gesture controls adjust speed, brightness, and volume. PLAYit can convert video to audio, including MP4 to MP3, and includes playlists, lyrics support, a music sleep timer, and a private folder for video protection. This makes it a broader choice for local playback and everyday media tasks than a player focused only on opening files. Online video search and streaming are also described, although network playback details are limited, so users prioritizing a clearly documented network-media workflow may prefer another option.
PLAYit is free to download; Google Play lists ads and in-app purchases. It is a reasonable fit for solo users and small teams seeking a free player with practical playback controls and media utilities, particularly on Android. A limitation for buyers evaluating playback capability is that hardware acceleration is marked false, despite support for 4K playback. Those who need hardware-accelerated decoding or a more clearly specified network playback setup should consider alternatives; users centered on local files, subtitles, and basic video-to-audio conversion are more aligned with PLAYit's strengths.
