Our verdict on Philips Wave
Philips Wave is a cloud-based platform for system integrators and AV/IT teams managing Philips professional displays across retail, corporate, education, hospitality, banking, transportation, and other multi-display environments. Its focus is operational control: remote installation and configuration, firmware and software updates, monitoring, power scheduling, brightness management, and display-fleet maintenance. Wave is available through web and API access, with the ecosystem also including Wave Controller and PPDS ProStore applications.
The published plans separate core fleet management from broader automation. Lite is free and includes basic display settings, remote management, and access to PPDS ProStore applications. Essential is paid and adds bulk actions, one-to-many control, API access, power scheduling, predictive maintenance, and automated setup. That makes Lite a practical starting point for basic remote administration, while Essential is aimed at larger or more operationally demanding fleets. The platform also lists email alerts, API-first integrations, and remote software distribution among its management capabilities.
Wave is strongest when the main requirement is controlling and maintaining compatible Philips professional displays rather than building a broad content-production environment. Its security features include two-factor authentication and encryption, and its API-first approach can support connections to applications built for Philips digital signage, interactive displays, and professional TVs using Android SoC. The trade-off is a narrower ecosystem centered on Philips hardware and PPDS ProStore, with content-authoring depth taking less prominence than device operations. Choose Wave for centralized fleet administration, remote updates, power control, and maintenance workflows; consider a broader signage platform if content creation and wider platform coverage are the primary priorities.
