Our verdict on Mailcedar

Mailcedar is a hosted email service for individuals, families, freelancers, and small teams. It combines webmail with IMAP, SMTP, JMAP, CalDAV, and CardDAV access, plus iOS and Android access through standard mail applications. The Free plan includes a 5 GB mailbox, 5 aliases, and one-click mbox export. Paid tiers expand storage and administration: Plus provides 30 GB, unlimited aliases, one custom domain, calendar and contacts, and Sieve filters; Pro provides 100 GB, unlimited aliases, unlimited custom domains, up to 6 group members, and JMAP write API access.

Its strongest fit is for buyers who want control over mailbox access and portability. Mailcedar supports aliases with forwarding, sending, and per-alias signatures, while custom-domain hosting includes SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and catch-all routing. Two-step authentication supports TOTP, WebAuthn, and security keys. Migration tools cover Gmail and other IMAP services, and export supports mbox, eml, vCard, and iCal. These features make the service suitable for moving an existing mailbox or maintaining a personal domain without being tied to one interface.

Mailcedar also covers practical email workflows with keyboard shortcuts, search, snooze, scheduled send, Sieve filtering, calendar, contacts, and expiring upload links for files over 25 MB. Paid prices are shown in Canadian dollars, and yearly billing saves 15%. The free tier is a sensible starting point for light mailbox use, while Plus suits one custom domain and broader organization features. Choose Pro when multiple domains, group members, or JMAP write API access matter. Buyers seeking built-in AI features should choose another service.
