Our verdict on Lopay
Lopay is a mobile payment processing platform for sole traders, side hustlers and small businesses. It supports in-person payments through Tap to Pay, Bluetooth card readers and a Wi-Fi business terminal. Businesses can also accept payment links, recurring subscription links, QR codes and cash, with support for cards, contactless, Apple Pay and Google Pay. POS features, refunds, digital receipts, invoicing, reporting, team management and an Expense & Rewards Card extend it beyond basic card acceptance.
The three plans keep the software structure simple. Essential includes free Thursday bank payouts, free POS features, unlimited team members and no monthly fee. Standard adds next-day, weekly or monthly scheduled payouts while retaining the same POS, team and monthly-fee terms. Instant to Bank is designed for businesses that need instant bank payouts 24/7, including weekends and bank holidays. Pricing varies by region, and UK pricing uses percentage transaction fees rather than a recurring software subscription price.
Lopay’s main strength is breadth within mobile payment operations: a business can combine Tap to Pay, readers, terminals, recurring links, QR payments, POS product and inventory management, transaction and payout reports, refunds and team reports in one service. It runs on web, iOS and Android, and Xero is the listed integration. The platform operates in the UK, Ireland and United States and works with Stripe for payment and e-money services.
