Our verdict on Expensent

Expensent collects receipts and invoices from connected Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Yahoo, and IMAP inboxes. It is designed for freelancers, small businesses, bookkeepers, and client-facing teams that need to find financial documents, review them, and forward selected items to accountants or accounting destinations. AI detection, a review-focused Action Center, mobile receipt scanning, file uploads, and historical inbox search support a workflow centered on email collection rather than direct bookkeeping.

The paid plans are straightforward. Solo costs £19 per month, billed monthly, and includes two email accounts, 100 invoices per month, insights for this month and last month, one CC recipient, and email and chat support. Pro costs £59 per month, billed monthly, and adds 10 email accounts, unlimited invoices, full Insights history, five CC recipients per account, inbox organization after forwarding, and priority email, chat, and one-to-one support. Automatic forwarding rules can help with recurring documents, while duplicate-prevention metadata supports cleaner processing.

Expensent connects with QuickBooks Online, Xero, Expensify, FreshBooks, Ramp, Brex, BILL, Dext, SAP Concur, Wave, Zoho Expense, Hubdoc, Shoeboxed, Emburse, and Pleo. Its accounting destinations receive documents by email rather than through a documented native accounting-data synchronization layer, so it suits teams that want controlled document forwarding and review. It is less suitable for buyers requiring verified line-item extraction or a deeper structured accounting sync. Choose Solo for a small inbox-based workflow, Pro for multiple inboxes and higher document volume, and an alternative for more advanced extraction or direct data integration.
