Our verdict on Descope

Descope is a customer identity and access management platform for developers building B2C and B2B applications. It combines a visual authentication flow builder with passwordless login, MFA, SSO, user and tenant management, authorization, session management, identity federation and SCIM provisioning. Hosted flows, client and mobile SDKs, backend SDKs and REST APIs support web, iOS, Android and API-based applications. It is aimed at teams that need modern authentication and access controls across customer-facing applications.

Pricing is usage-based and organized into four plans. Free Forever costs $0 per month with monthly billing and includes 7,500 monthly active users, 10 monthly active tenants, three SSO connections, MFA and step-up authentication, and role-based access control. Pro costs $249 per month with annual billing and raises the limits to 10,000 monthly active users, 35 monthly active tenants and five SSO connections, while adding SAML/OIDC federated applications and self-service SSO setup. Growth costs $799 per month with annual billing and adds 25,000 monthly active users, 100 monthly active tenants, 10 SSO connections, SCIM provisioning and fine-grained authorization. Enterprise provides custom pricing, custom deployments, dedicated customer success engineering and unlimited test users.

The platform fits applications that need more than a basic sign-in screen. Its authentication methods include passkeys/WebAuthn, magic links, OTP, authenticator apps/TOTP, social login, security questions, recovery codes and device authentication. Integrations include Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, PingFederate, OneLogin, JumpCloud, Auth0, Salesforce, HubSpot and Intercom. Choose Descope when passwordless authentication, adaptive access, tenant management and connected identity systems are central requirements. A simpler authentication product may be a better fit for teams that need only basic login flows without federation, provisioning or fine-grained authorization.
