Our verdict on DeepSource
DeepSource is a web-based code review and application security platform for individual developers, open-source teams, and engineering organizations. It combines secrets detection with static analysis, SAST, infrastructure-as-code review, dependency vulnerability scanning, code coverage, and automated formatting. Secrets detection covers API keys, passwords, tokens, private keys, service-account credentials, OAuth secrets, and other credentials. Its pull-request workflow can add inline issue comments and fail quality gates when secrets are detected, making it suited to teams that want broader repository analysis rather than a secrets-only scanner.
The Open Source plan includes unlimited public repositories, up to 1,000 pull-request reviews per month, static analysis, SAST, IaC, and code coverage, but it does not include secrets detection. The Team plan costs $24 per user per month when billed annually and adds unlimited public and private repositories, unlimited pull-request reviews, secrets detection, API access, and webhooks, with a self-service 14-day trial. Enterprise includes all Team features plus custom pricing, self-hosted deployment, single sign-on, and priority support with an SLA.
DeepSource fits teams working across GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or Azure DevOps, with GraphQL API access for repositories, issues, analysis runs, and metrics. Real-time webhooks support workflow automation, while commit and pull-request analysis provides coverage across development review points. The platform does not provide push protection, so teams seeking enforcement before a push should consider a different fit. Choose DeepSource when secrets scanning belongs alongside code quality and application security checks; choose an alternative when standalone secret prevention or pre-push controls are the primary requirement.
