Our verdict on Conduit Platform

Conduit Platform is an open-source, self-hosted Backend-as-a-Service for developers and product teams that want backend capabilities on their own infrastructure. Its modular scope covers authentication, databases, file storage, authorization, realtime chat, communications, routing, and server-side functions. Teams can deploy it with Docker, Kubernetes, or from source, while applications can use web and API access through REST or GraphQL exposure.

The platform’s main strength is breadth across backend building blocks. It supports MongoDB and PostgreSQL, schema-based CRUD routes, custom database endpoints, and fine-grained authorization with team scoping. Authentication options include email/password, social providers, magic links, API keys, and two-factor authentication. File handling supports local storage, S3, Azure, Google Cloud, and Aliyun, with signed URLs and public or private access. Realtime chat rooms, messages, and Socket.io delivery extend the platform beyond basic API generation, while webhooks and scheduled jobs support server-side workflows.

Conduit also fits teams with an established cloud or infrastructure preference. Its integrations include MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS S3, S3-compatible storage, Microsoft Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage, Alibaba Cloud OSS, and several social or developer identity providers, including Apple, GitHub, GitLab, Google, LinkedIn, and others. The trade-off is operational ownership: the currently documented model centers on self-hosted deployment, and managed hosting is coming soon. Conduit suits teams that value control, integration breadth, and an open-source backend; teams seeking an immediately vendor-managed service should consider a different approach.
