Our verdict on BillingEngine
BillingEngine is browser-based accounting and invoicing software for sole proprietors and small businesses. It creates, sends and tracks electronic invoices, receives incoming e-invoices through a dedicated inbox, and supports quotes, recurring invoices, payment reminders and dunning. Its electronic invoicing formats include EN 16931, XRechnung and ZUGFeRD, making the product a strong fit for businesses that need structured European invoicing alongside everyday billing workflows.
The plan structure is straightforward. The Free plan costs €0 per month and includes 3 invoices, 3 quotes and 3 receipts per month for 1 user, plus unlimited incoming e-invoices. Basic costs €6 per month with annual billing or €7.50 with monthly billing, raising the monthly allowances to 30 invoices, quotes and receipts for 2 users and adding recurring invoices and API access. Premium costs €12 per month annually or €15 monthly, with unlimited invoices, quotes and receipts, 5 users, recurring invoices and API access. The main buying decision is therefore volume: Free suits very light activity, Basic covers capped recurring work, and Premium removes those document limits.
BillingEngine also reaches beyond basic invoice creation.
