Best overall on stated capacity: the Bosch GTS15-10, with a 32-1/8-inch rip capacity and included Gravity-Rise wheeled stand. The Bosch 4100XC-10 offers 30 inches of capacity with the same stand concept, while the compact DEWALT DWE7485 provides 24.5 inches and is explicitly specified for ripping 4×8 plywood or OSB. Those figures describe fence-to-blade capacity, not measured cutting speed or proof that one saw is easier to operate with a full sheet. Your decision should also account for fence adjustment, stable infeed and outfeed support, guarding, blade compatibility and how you transport the saw.

What the specifications actually tell you

A portable jobsite table saw can make a straight, repeatable plywood rip, but “quickly and easily” depends on the complete setup rather than motor amperage alone. The manufacturer specifications available for these three models establish blade size, motor rating, rip capacity, fence design and stand features. They do not establish a like-for-like test of cut speed, edge quality, noise, durability or one-person handling of a full 4-by-8-foot sheet.

Rip capacity is the maximum distance from the blade to the fence in the saw’s specified configuration. It is not the width of plywood that can be crosscut in one pass. A 24.5-inch capacity, for example, can accommodate a lengthwise rip on a 4-by-8 sheet when the sheet is oriented so its long edge runs along the fence. It does not mean the saw can crosscut the sheet’s 48-inch width without additional operations.

For plywood work, compare these practical axes:

  • Stated rip capacity: determines how wide a strip you can cut with the fence set on one side of the blade.
  • Fence adjustment: rack-and-pinion or SquareLock systems can make repeated settings easier to control, but no source here measures their real-world accuracy.
  • Table and sheet support: a full panel needs stable infeed and outfeed support; none of the cited specifications proves that a particular stand handles a panel safely by itself.
  • Portability: an integrated wheeled stand can simplify movement but adds footprint and storage considerations.
  • Guarding and push aids: the supplied guard, riving knife, anti-kickback parts and push stick must be installed and used according to the exact manual.
  • Blade fit: diameter, kerf, plate thickness and riving-knife clearance must match the saw.

Three portable saws compared

Model Blade and motor specification Stated rip capacity Fence and stand details Best comparison angle
DEWALT DWE7485 8-1/4-inch blade; 15-amp motor 24.5 inches; the manufacturer describes this as suitable for ripping 4×8 plywood or OSB sheets Rack-and-pinion telescoping fence rails; compact design; a stand is not identified in the cited product specification Small footprint with a clearly stated sheet-goods capacity
Bosch 4100XC-10 10-inch blade; 15-amp saw; 3,650 rpm (manufacturer specification) 30 inches for 4-foot-wide sheet goods 30-by-22-1/2-inch table; Gravity-Rise wheeled stand; SquareLock fence; Smart Guard system More fence-to-blade room and an integrated transport solution
Bosch GTS15-10 10-inch blade; 15-amp saw; 3,800 rpm (manufacturer specification) 32-1/8 inches Gravity-Rise wheeled stand; rack-and-pinion fence; Smart Guard system Highest stated capacity among these examples

The rpm and amp figures are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured performance. A higher stated capacity or rpm should not be presented as proof of faster plywood cutting or a cleaner edge.

DEWALT DWE7485: compact capacity for sheet-goods work

The DWE7485 uses an 8-1/4-inch blade and a 15-amp motor. Its 24.5-inch rip capacity is the smallest of this group, yet DEWALT explicitly identifies the capacity as suitable for ripping 4×8 plywood or OSB sheets. That statement is about the fence setting and the way the sheet is oriented for a lengthwise cut; it is not a claim that the saw can pass a 48-inch-wide panel across the blade in one operation.

Why its layout may suit a compact workspace

Rack-and-pinion telescoping rails are intended to let you extend and set the fence without the long loose rails associated with some larger saws. The compact design can be useful when storage space or vehicle space is limited. The available specification does not state the saw’s weight, included stand, table-extension dimensions or a tested method for supporting a full panel, so plan a stable support system separately.

Capacity questions to answer before buying

  • Measure the widest strip you routinely cut and leave margin for the fence, blade position and safe handling.
  • Decide whether you will rip panels lengthwise on a support table, sawhorses configured for the manufacturer’s instructions, or another stable arrangement.
  • Check whether the 8-1/4-inch blade format meets your planned material thickness and replacement-blade availability.

Bosch 4100XC-10: 30 inches with a wheeled stand

The 4100XC-10 has a 10-inch blade, a 15-amp motor and a manufacturer-specified 3,650 rpm. Its 30-inch rip capacity is listed for 4-foot-wide sheet goods, giving more fence-to-blade range than the DWE7485. The 30-by-22-1/2-inch table, Gravity-Rise wheeled stand and SquareLock fence are relevant when the saw must be moved between storage and a jobsite.

What the stand changes—and what it does not

A wheeled stand can reduce the effort of rolling the saw into position and folding it for storage. It does not eliminate the need to lock the stand, level the saw and provide appropriate infeed and outfeed support. The cited product information does not quantify how a single operator should handle a full plywood panel, nor does it compare the 4100XC-10’s transport effort with the other models.

Fence and guarding

SquareLock is the named fence system, and Smart Guard is the named guarding system. Confirm that the guard, riving-knife configuration and anti-kickback components are installed in the mode required for your cut. Use the model’s manual for adjustments rather than assuming that parts from another 10-inch saw interchange.

  • 2-47° BEVEL CAPACITY - Cuts between 2 positive stops at 0 and 45 degrees with quick release lever

Bosch GTS15-10: the largest stated rip range here

The GTS15-10 lists a 32-1/8-inch rip capacity, a 10-inch blade, a 15-amp motor and 3,800 rpm. It includes a Gravity-Rise wheeled stand, a rack-and-pinion fence and Smart Guard system. On paper, it gives the most fence-to-blade room of the three examples for wide rips.

When the extra capacity matters

More capacity can reduce the number of times you must reposition a fence or use a second operation for wide strips. It is most useful when your panel layout regularly exceeds 24.5 or 30 inches. Measure your actual cut list: if every rip is narrower, the added range may not justify the larger storage footprint or transport requirements.

Do not equate capacity with speed

The 32-1/8-inch figure is a dimensional specification. It does not show how quickly the saw moves through plywood, how smooth the edge will be, or how manageable a full sheet is for one person. Those outcomes depend on blade selection, feed control, support and material condition.

How to orient a 4-by-8 plywood sheet

Before setting the fence, draw the cut on the panel and identify which edge will ride against the fence. For a lengthwise rip, the sheet’s 8-foot dimension runs in the feed direction, while the fence is set to the required distance from the blade. A saw’s 24.5-, 30- or 32-1/8-inch capacity is measured from the blade to the fence; it is not a 48-inch crosscut capacity.

  1. Place the sheet so the intended offcut and keeper piece are both supported throughout the cut.
  2. Set the fence to the finished dimension, accounting for the blade kerf only when your layout requires it.
  3. Confirm that the panel can travel straight through the blade without striking a wall, stand leg or nearby material.
  4. Arrange stable infeed and outfeed support at the same height as the saw table. The cited manufacturers do not approve a particular improvised support arrangement, so follow the exact manual for your model.
  5. Make a dry run with the saw switched off to verify your walking path, hand positions and where the panel will go after it clears the blade.

A repeatable setup for clean plywood rips

1. Inspect the saw

Check that the blade is appropriate for the material and is mounted in the correct direction. Inspect the guard assembly, riving knife and anti-kickback parts for damage or missing hardware. Verify that the table, stand and any extensions are locked.

  • BOSCH TOOLS SAW: 15-Amp portable table saw with 3,800 rpm for rip-cutting and cross-cutting of fine and hard wood materials
  • CONVENIENCE BRAKE: The brake on this tablesaw helps blade stop in approximately three seconds, increasing productivity
  • SOFT-START CIRCUITRY: This 10 inch table saw manages intensity of motor start-up and minimizes the possibility of tripping a circuit breaker
  • SMART GUARD SYSTEM: This portable saw features a riving knife and anti-kickback pawls to provide protection, while the guard assembly provides a barrier to help prevent blade contact while allowing an unobstructed view of the cut

2. Align and lock the fence

The cited DEWALT manual instructs the operator to check that the rip fence is locked and parallel to the blade before ripping. Use the adjustment procedure for your model, then sight or measure the relationship at the front and rear of the blade. A fence that drifts toward the blade can pinch the workpiece; one that opens away from the blade can affect control and cut accuracy.

3. Prepare push aids

Keep the supplied push stick within reach before switching on. Bosch’s safety instructions call for a push stick when the fence-to-blade distance is under 150 mm and a push block under 50 mm. Those distances are instructions from that Bosch manual, not universal regulatory thresholds. Use the push aid specified by your model’s manual and keep your hands out of the blade path.

4. Start and feed deliberately

Stand balanced and slightly to the side of the blade’s projected kickback path. Start the saw only after the panel, fence and support are ready. Feed at a steady rate that lets the blade maintain control; forcing the panel or stopping midway can worsen the cut and increase the chance of binding.

5. Finish without reaching over the blade

Continue using the push aid until the workpiece is past the blade and the anti-kickback system can no longer engage it. Do not reach over or behind the blade to retrieve an offcut while it is moving. Switch off and wait for complete blade stoppage before clearing material.

Safety points that apply to this comparison

Kickback is a sudden reaction of the workpiece associated with a pinched or jammed blade or a misaligned cut. Bosch’s safety guidance specifies that ripping force should be applied between the fence and blade, not from the opposite side where the workpiece can be driven into the blade. The DEWALT manual also warns against using the rip fence and miter gauge together for the same cut; follow that instruction on the cited compact-saw configuration.

  • Read the exact manual for your model because guard parts, stand locks and adjustment procedures differ.

None of the cited sources demonstrates that any portable saw safely handles a full sheet without auxiliary support. Treat the stand as a base, not as a substitute for a stable infeed and outfeed plan.

Choosing a plywood blade without creating a fit problem

The DEWALT manual identifies the supplied blade as a combination blade and lists thin-plywood blades among specialized types. A blade marketed for plywood may improve the intended cut, but “plywood blade” is not a universal compatibility category. Match the blade diameter, arbor, kerf, plate thickness and riving-knife clearance to the saw.

DWE7485-specific compatibility example

DEWALT’s support notice identifies DWA181424 and DWA181424B10 (8-1/4-inch, 24-tooth) and DWA181440 (8-1/4-inch, 40-tooth) as usable with the DWE7485 Type 3. The notice provides the applicable plate and kerf dimensions and warns that changing blade type may require checking the rip-scale adjustment. It also says the replacement blade must not exceed the supplied riving knife’s thickness.

Those compatibility statements apply to that DWE7485 configuration only. Do not transfer them to the Bosch saws or to a different DWE7485 type without checking the relevant manual and support documentation.

What tooth count means for your decision

A lower-tooth blade can be intended for faster material removal, while a higher-tooth blade is commonly selected when a finer finish is desired. The cited materials do not establish a best tooth count for every plywood species, veneer, thickness or feed rate, so select from the saw manufacturer’s approved ranges and the blade maker’s specifications rather than treating one option as universally superior.

Portability and support: the practical trade-off

The Bosch models explicitly include Gravity-Rise wheeled stands. That feature addresses movement and setup, but a wheeled base can require more room when folded or deployed than a compact saw body. The DWE7485 is described as compact, but the cited product information does not identify an included stand. Compare the transport method you actually use: vehicle loading, stairs, storage width, and the distance from storage to the cutting area.

For any of the three, plan support around the panel rather than around the marketing label “portable.” The support surface should remain stable as the sheet’s center of gravity moves across the table. Keep the infeed path clear, make sure the stand cannot roll, and avoid relying on a helper to hold a falling offcut near the blade. Use the model’s manual for approved accessories and setup instructions.

A buying checklist for your cut list

  1. Measure your widest planned rip. Choose at least the capacity required for that dimension, not merely the blade diameter.
  2. Decide how you will support 4-by-8 panels. If you cannot create stable infeed and outfeed support, a larger capacity alone will not make the operation easy.
  3. Check transport constraints. Compare the compact DWE7485 format with the wheeled-stand designs of the Bosch models against your vehicle and storage space.
  4. Review fence adjustment. Rack-and-pinion rails are named on the DWE7485 and GTS15-10; SquareLock is named on the 4100XC-10. Choose the interface you can lock and verify consistently.
  5. Confirm guarding. Identify the supplied guard, riving knife, anti-kickback parts and push aid for the exact model and keep replacements available.
  6. Verify blade compatibility. Check diameter, arbor, kerf, plate and riving-knife limits before ordering a plywood or fine-finish blade.
  7. Ignore unsupported performance superlatives. The available specifications do not prove fastest cutting, easiest handling, best edge quality or highest durability.

Which one should you choose?

Choose the DWE7485 when compactness comes first

Select the DWE7485 if 24.5 inches covers your planned rips and you value a compact saw with rack-and-pinion telescoping rails. Its manufacturer-stated 4×8 plywood/OSB suitability addresses a common sheet-goods task, provided you orient and support the panel correctly.

Choose the 4100XC-10 for a 30-inch capacity and wheeled transport

The 4100XC-10 is a logical fit when you need 30 inches of stated capacity, a 10-inch blade and a Gravity-Rise wheeled stand. Its 30-by-22-1/2-inch table and SquareLock fence are relevant to setup, but they do not replace a stable support plan.

Choose the GTS15-10 for the widest stated rip range

The GTS15-10 offers the largest stated capacity in this comparison at 32-1/8 inches, along with a 10-inch blade, rack-and-pinion fence and Gravity-Rise stand. That makes it the specification-led choice for wide rips; it is not evidence of faster cutting or better plywood finish.

What is not established by the available specifications

Current street prices, stock status, comparative durability, measured cut speed, plywood edge quality, noise, vibration and solo full-sheet handling are not established for these models here. Manufacturer pages and manuals can change, so verify the current specification, manual revision and included accessories at the time you buy. Treat the figures in this article as the manufacturers’ stated specifications, not independent test results.
