If a Pokémon GO event bonus is not appearing, first check whether that specific bonus is active for your event, account, location, and local time. Then confirm that you are looking in the right in-game screen and have met any ticket, task, or check-in requirements. Only after those checks should you troubleshoot the app: update it, verify your connection and device time, and try refreshing game data.
A missing icon does not always mean a bonus is missing from gameplay. The steps below help distinguish an eligibility or timing issue from a display problem or an app issue, without assuming that every event uses the same schedule or rules.
What kind of event bonus is missing?
Start by identifying exactly what you expected to happen. Extra catch XP or Stardust, event spawns, a ticketed feature, Timed Research, GO Pass points, and an on-screen bonus label are different things with different rules. Troubleshooting is more effective when you check the requirement for that specific effect instead of treating every missing reward as one general event failure.
- Event information or a timed bonus: Check the Today View’s Happening Now and Events sections for active events, bonuses, challenges, and Timed Research. If no event is upcoming or active, the Events tab may be empty and point you to the Official Blog.
- An item effect: The Map View’s Active Bonuses label concerns active item effects, such as Incense or Star Pieces. It is not the same display as the event information in Today View. An absent item-effect icon by itself does not establish that an event-wide bonus has failed.
- A task or research reward: Check whether it is Field Research or Timed Research, whether it has an Event label, and whether its own requirements or expiration apply. Timed Research expires after its stated period.
- GO Pass progress: Check the relevant Pass Task and daily-activity limit rather than assuming that a missing point is a general event-bonus problem.
- A ticketed feature: Confirm the event, session, and Trainer account associated with the ticket before troubleshooting the phone.
These distinctions matter because the right screen for an event announcement is not necessarily the screen that shows an item effect, and a reward can have its own claim window or eligibility condition. Write down the exact promise in the event announcement, such as double catch XP, an extra raid pass, a special spawn, or access to a research line. That wording gives you something specific to test.

Is the event active at your location and local time?
Compare the event’s announced start and end times, eligible location, and activity requirements with where and when you are playing. Event schedules are not necessarily universal: Community Day, for example, is announced in specified time frames by time zone, and each event has its own schedule and bonuses.
Check the named event’s official announcement rather than borrowing a start time or bonus condition from a previous event. An event may have begun for players in one time zone while it is not yet active—or has already ended—for someone elsewhere. Never assume that an event begins at one worldwide hour unless its announcement explicitly says so. A bonus can also apply only to a particular activity, such as catching a featured Pokémon, completing a raid, spinning a stop, or using a ticketed feature. Seeing an event banner does not prove that every condition has been met.
Check device time and location
Incorrect or fluctuating device time and inaccurate GPS can cause problems with event timing and location-dependent gameplay. Make sure the phone’s date and time are set automatically and that the game has an accurate location. If the event is tied to a specific place or session, confirm that your current location qualifies. Avoid manually changing the clock to reach a future event window; that can create additional synchronization problems and does not make an account eligible.

This detail is useful later because support can compare the attempt with the event window. If you moved between time zones, wait for the phone to settle on the correct network time and location before repeating the activity.
Is a ticket or the signed-in account preventing access?
For an in-person event, compare the ticket’s assigned Trainer account and selected session with the account currently signed in to Pokémon GO. Official guidance says these tickets are not transferable between accounts, so buying another ticket or trying to transfer one is not a reliable fix for a mismatch.
- Check the event confirmation email for the selected date and time.
- In Pokémon GO, open Main Menu > Events and select the event banner to review the session details.
- Compare the ticket’s assigned Trainer name with the account currently signed in.
- If needed, check the order record under View my order(s).
- Confirm that you did not register one account while intending to play on another. A family member’s or secondary account’s ticket will not normally unlock features on your account.
Do this before purchasing anything again. A ticket purchase does not establish that the currently signed-in account has the event access or session you expected. Keep the confirmation email and order information; they are more useful to support than a receipt for a second purchase. If the event requires selecting a date or time, a different session may explain why a feature is unavailable even though the event itself is visible.
Could a task, meetup, or GO Pass rule explain the missing reward?
Yes. Some rewards appear only after a separate task, check-in, or claim requirement, and GO Pass activity points have a specific daily limit. Check the rules for the particular research or pass before treating a missing reward as an app fault.

Timed Research and meetup check-ins
Timed Research has its own expiration, so check the stated deadline and event terms. A task that was available yesterday may disappear after its period ends, even if the broader event is still being discussed online. Field Research with an Event label is a separate category and can have different collection and completion rules.
For a qualifying Community Ambassador meetup reward, verify that the meetup invitation is marked for rewards, that you checked in and received confirmation, and that you claimed the initial XP reward within its allowed window. The Pokémon GO Help Center’s meetup guidance specifies an initial 500 XP claim within one hour of check-in; repeat research is limited to once per 24 hours. Those conditions apply to qualifying meetup check-in research, not to every event or ticket.
If the meetup research still does not appear, the official checklist also advises restarting the app. Check that you attended the rewards-marked meetup rather than a different gathering at the same location, and verify that the check-in confirmation appeared on the same Trainer account you are using now. If the research is for another event, use that event’s terms instead of applying the meetup rules to it.
GO Pass daily-activity points
The Pokémon GO Help Center states that daily activities can award up to 250 Pass Points per day. Daily and Weekly Pass Tasks are not subject to that daily-activity limit. The same guidance notes that an event-specific exception may suspend the daily cap, so check the applicable event details.

This limit concerns GO Pass points; it is not a cap on all Pokémon GO event bonuses. If a Pass Task still awards points after daily activities stop doing so, that behavior is consistent with the separate rules. Note which source produced each point, when the daily total reset, and whether the event announcement names an exception before reporting a problem.
Is the bonus actually missing, or only its indicator?
Where possible, compare the actual expected reward or action with the event’s stated terms instead of relying only on an icon. Pokémon GO has documented a specific Mega Evolution issue in which an additional-Charged-Attack power-bonus indicator may be absent even though the power bonus is still applied. The notice describes this as a visual issue only; it does not establish that other missing event-bonus displays are harmless.

Test the underlying effect only when the event provides a clear way to do so. For example, compare the reward from an eligible catch or task with the announced reward, while accounting for other active modifiers. Do not use one unrelated icon, such as an Incense or Star Piece indicator, as proof that every event-wide bonus is active or inactive. Save a screenshot of the event terms, the relevant Today View or task screen, and the result that differs from the promise.
What should you try on Android or iPhone?
After confirming the event conditions, account, and reward requirements, try the shared, reversible checks first. Pokémon GO’s Android and iOS troubleshooting guidance recommends updating the app, checking the connection, using automatic device time, and refreshing game data. These steps may help, but none guarantees that an eligibility or event-schedule issue will be fixed.
- Update Pokémon GO. Install the current version available from the official app store for your device. An old build can display stale event information or fail to support a newly deployed feature.
- Check your connection. Confirm that the phone has a reliable internet connection, then return to the game and check the expected screen or effect again. If possible, try a stable Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection rather than repeatedly tapping while the game is offline.
- Set date and time automatically. Use the phone’s automatic date-and-time setting so the device clock is not manually out of sync with event servers.
- Refresh game data. In Pokémon GO, open Settings > Advanced Settings > Refresh Game Data. Pokémon GO’s Help Center says refreshing can resolve a variety of gameplay issues; it is a troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed fix.
- Check Adventure Sync. Refreshing game data may turn Adventure Sync off, so review its setting afterward if you rely on it.
- Restart the app. Fully close and reopen Pokémon GO after the refresh, especially when a meetup check-in or Timed Research was just completed.
If the problem continues on Android
The Android troubleshooting guidance includes clearing the app cache as a later option. Use the platform’s official Pokémon GO instructions for that step. Clearing a cache is different from deleting game progress, but avoid clearing app data or changing accounts before you establish eligibility and try the simpler checks. If the phone has aggressive battery, location, or background-data restrictions, verify that Pokémon GO can connect normally.
If the problem continues on either platform
Reinstalling the official app is a later troubleshooting option in the platform guides. Pokémon GO’s guidance says game progress is stored online. Before reinstalling, make sure you can sign back in to the correct Trainer account and know which login method it uses. After any refresh or reinstall, recheck the event, account, and reward conditions rather than assuming the original issue was caused by the app.
A quick decision path before you contact support
- Read the promise: identify the exact bonus, reward, task, or feature and its activity requirement.
- Check the clock and map: compare the announced local window, eligible geography, device time, and current location.
- Check access: confirm the selected ticket session and assigned Trainer account, if applicable.
- Check the gate: review expiration, check-in confirmation, claim deadline, repeat limits, or the GO Pass daily-activity ceiling.
- Check the display: look in Today View for event information and Map View for item effects; do not treat the two labels as interchangeable.
- Try reversible fixes: update, reconnect, enable automatic time, refresh game data, restart, and verify Adventure Sync.
- Document the result: capture screenshots and note the local time, location, app version, and exact steps that reproduce the problem.
This order prevents the most common costly mistake: buying a second ticket or changing accounts when the event simply has not started, the session is wrong, or a task has expired.
How do you report an eligible bonus that is still missing?
If the event is active for your location and time, your account and ticket match, and the stated reward requirements are met, contact Pokémon GO through in-app support. A concise report with the event and expected effect makes it easier to distinguish an eligibility question from a reproducible gameplay issue.

- Open Main Menu > Settings > Help, then use the in-app contact control.
- Give the event name, your local time and location, and the expected bonus or reward.
- For ticketed access, include the selected session and relevant assigned Trainer account details.
- Describe what actually happened and the steps that reproduce it. Include the app version and screenshots if available.
- State which checks you completed, such as automatic time, connection testing, data refresh, restart, and confirmation of the event terms.
The in-app route is the official support path for this issue and supplies useful device and version context. A bug report does not guarantee an individual response, so keep the description focused on the specific missing effect and the conditions you have checked. Do not include passwords or sensitive payment information in a screenshot.

Pokémon GO Plus + is an optional Bluetooth accessory for catching Pokémon and spinning PokéStops. Official guidance describes auto-spin and auto-throw options, and supported-device information lists the phones that can use it. It can be convenient during a busy event, but it does not activate an event bonus, repair a ticket-to-account mismatch, unlock Timed Research, or fix an app connection problem.
If you shop for one, search for the exact product name Pokémon GO Plus + and verify current compatibility from the official device guidance. Pokémon GO Plus and Poké Ball Plus are different products and may offer different controls. Treat any purchase as optional event-day equipment, not as a troubleshooting step, and check availability and price with an authorized retailer before buying.

Can I transfer an in-person event ticket to another account?
Official ticket guidance says in-person tickets are assigned to the registered Trainer account and are not transferable between accounts. Check the confirmation email, Main Menu > Events, and View my order(s) before buying anything again.
Why is my meetup Timed Research missing?
