Choose PlayStation Portal if you mainly want to play compatible PS5 games on a dedicated PlayStation handheld. Choose Logitech G Cloud if you want one Android handheld for PS5 Remote Play plus Xbox and PC Remote Play, cloud gaming services, and Google Play apps. Portal can now also stream eligible PS5 games directly with PlayStation Plus Premium, so that option does not always require a connected PS5.
How the two handhelds differ
These devices both stream games, but they serve different priorities. Portal is built around PlayStation: it connects to a PS5 for Remote Play and offers a separate Premium cloud-streaming option. G Cloud is an Android handheld that Logitech lists for multiple remote-play and cloud services, as well as local Google Play apps. Neither should be treated as a conventional console with an equivalent library of games installed and played locally.

Which is better for PS5 Remote Play?
Choose Portal for a PS5-first setup
Sony says Portal plays compatible PS5 and PS4 games installed on a paired PS5 over Wi-Fi. Supported games can use Portal’s DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers, which makes it the more PlayStation-specific choice. Sony lists an 8-inch LCD with 1080p resolution and capability up to 60 fps.
For Remote Play, you need a PS5 and PlayStation account. The console must be online, powered on or in Rest Mode, and paired with Portal. Sony says PlayStation Plus is not required for Remote Play. Sony’s guidance is at least 5 Mbps broadband Wi-Fi, with at least 15 Mbps recommended for a better play experience; actual quality varies with network conditions. Choose G Cloud if PS5 is one of several uses
Logitech lists PS5 Remote Play alongside PC and Xbox Remote Play on G Cloud. It also lists cloud play through NVIDIA GeForce NOW and Xbox Game Pass, plus local Google Play apps. Those services and their subscriptions are separate; the handheld’s support for them does not mean a subscription or game access is included. Service requirements and availability depend on the provider and app. Details are on Logitech’s G Cloud product page.
Can Portal stream games without a PS5?
Yes, for eligible cloud-streaming sessions. Sony announced that Portal cloud streaming launched on November 5, 2025. With PlayStation Plus Premium, users can stream select digital PS5 games in their library and compatible games from the Game Catalog and Classics Catalog without connecting to their PS5 for that session. This is distinct from Remote Play, which streams from the owner’s paired console. Cloud-streaming availability varies by region, country, and game. Check Sony’s cloud-streaming launch announcement and current product information for eligibility.

If you want to stream a supported game directly to Portal without using your console, the Premium and game-eligibility conditions apply.
Screen, battery, and audio considerations
Screen specifications

Battery estimate
Logitech estimates about 12 hours of cloud play for G Cloud under its stated normal conditions: 50% volume and 50% brightness. This is a manufacturer estimate, not a guarantee or directly comparable battery test. The cited Portal materials do not provide a comparable battery figure. G Cloud’s other listed specifications include Android 11 and 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi; see Logitech’s G Cloud specifications.
Audio options
Portal offers built-in speakers, a 3.5 mm audio connection, and support for PlayStation Link devices. G Cloud specifications list Bluetooth 5.1 and a 3.5 mm headset connection. Consider the headphones or earbuds you already own; neither device’s listed options imply that a separate accessory is mandatory.

What should you budget for?
Hardware and subscription costs depend on your region and current offers. When accessed on October 7, 2026, Logitech’s US product page displayed a promotional price of $199.99 against a $299.99 reference price. That offer may change and should not be treated as a recurring or region-wide price. The cited materials do not establish a comparable current Portal price, so check each retailer’s live listing before deciding on total cost.
Include the services you intend to use in your comparison. Portal cloud streaming requires PlayStation Plus Premium. Logitech lists GeForce NOW and Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming for G Cloud, but does not include those services’ subscriptions in its hardware listing.
Quick Recap
How to choose
- Pick Portal if PS5 is your main platform, you want its integrated PlayStation controls, or you plan to use eligible PS5 cloud streaming with Premium.
- Pick G Cloud if you want a single handheld for PS5 alongside Xbox or PC Remote Play, cloud gaming services, and Android apps.
- Check your network and subscriptions before buying: streaming quality depends on network conditions, and cloud services may require separate subscriptions.
- Compare the controls and screen in person if possible. The available specifications do not establish a definitive comfort or performance winner.
