You can use Oxylabs AI Studio from n8n in two supported ways: install the Oxylabs AI Studio community node for a guided configuration, or call an Oxylabs API directly with n8n’s HTTP Request node when you need payload-level control. In both cases, create an Oxylabs AI Studio API key, store it as an n8n credential, select an AI Studio resource, and execute the workflow. The node exposes AI-Scraper, AI-Crawler, Browser Agent, and AI-Search. Scraper can return Markdown for broad page context or schema-defined JSON for structured automation, while Search returns structured results. A new AI Studio account is advertised with a free key containing 1000 tokens; per-run token costs are not published in the available material, so check your live account dashboard before estimating a workflow’s budget.
What does the Oxylabs AI Studio integration add to n8n?
The integration lets an n8n workflow request web data through AI Studio and pass the result to later nodes such as data transformation, databases, notifications, or an LLM step. The community node provides a form-based setup for the supported AI Studio resources. The generic HTTP Request node is the alternative when a node release does not expose a field or operation your workflow requires.
At workflow level, the two approaches differ mainly in configuration effort and control:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute| Approach | Setup effort | Control | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oxylabs AI Studio community node | Install the node, select a credential, resource, target, and output options | Limited to fields exposed by the installed node version | Most first integrations and repeatable workflows |
| n8n HTTP Request node | Build the request method, URL, authentication, headers, and JSON body yourself | Direct control of the API payload and any currently documented parameter | Advanced options or a gap in the community node |
Both approaches still consume the AI Studio account’s allowance. Counting n8n workflow executions is not a substitute for checking AI Studio usage because the token charge depends on the AI Studio operation and account rules.

What do I need before setting up the connection?
Prepare the account and runtime first so a failed test is easy to diagnose.
AI Studio account and API key
Create an AI Studio account and generate an API key in its account interface. Oxylabs advertises a free API key with 1000 tokens for a new AI Studio account. Treat that allowance as an account-level promotion, not as a permanent monthly quota; confirm the terms and remaining balance in the current dashboard.
An n8n workspace
The same workflow steps apply to n8n Cloud and to a self-hosted n8n instance running on a server or VPS. You need permission to install community nodes if your workspace has that feature restricted. On a self-hosted installation, also make sure the instance can make outbound HTTPS requests and that its administrator permits community-node installation.
A narrow first test
Start with one public URL and a small extraction request. A single-page Scraper run makes it easier to tell whether an authentication problem, a node configuration problem, or a target-site response caused an error.
A plan for the returned data
Decide whether downstream steps need the whole page as readable context or a predictable set of fields. Use Markdown for the former and schema-defined JSON for the latter. This decision affects how easily you can map values into later n8n nodes.
How do I install the Oxylabs AI Studio node in n8n?
Install the community node from the n8n editor, then add it to a workflow.
- Open an existing workflow or select New workflow in n8n.
- Click the + button to add a node.
- Search for Oxylabs AI Studio.
- If the node is not already available, choose the option to install the community node and confirm the installation in the n8n prompt.
- After installation, add the Oxylabs AI Studio node to the canvas. If it does not appear immediately, refresh the editor and search again.
- Open the node configuration. The credential selector is labelled Credential to connect with.
Community-node availability can be controlled by an n8n administrator. If the search result is absent, check the workspace’s community-node policy and the n8n instance logs before changing the workflow.

How do I save the API key as an n8n credential?
Keep the key in n8n’s encrypted credential store, not in a Set node, expression, URL, or shared workflow document.

- Enter the Oxylabs AI Studio API key exactly as issued. Do not add quotation marks or a trailing space.
- Save the credential, then return to the node and select the saved credential.
- Run a one-item test and verify that the node returns data rather than an authentication error.
Credentials are separate from workflow JSON, which means exporting or sharing a workflow does not need to expose the secret. Nevertheless, restrict who can edit credentials, rotate a key if it appears in a log or public repository, and remove unused credentials from workspaces that no longer need them.
Which AI Studio resources can the n8n node use?
The node groups four AI Studio capabilities under a resource selector. Choose the resource according to the job rather than treating every request as a scraper call.
| Resource | Use it for | Typical n8n hand-off | Important planning point |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI-Scraper | Extract information from a specified page or site response using an instruction | Send Markdown to an LLM, or map JSON fields into a database | Choose the output format before building downstream mappings |
| AI-Crawler | Collect information across a crawl rather than from one isolated page | Iterate over returned records, filter them, and persist selected fields | Define a bounded crawl and monitor usage before scaling it |
| Browser Agent | Handle browser-oriented tasks that require an agent interaction | Pass the resulting structured response to logic or approval steps | Keep the task instruction explicit and test it on a small case |
| AI-Search | Submit a search request and receive structured search results | Loop through result items, rank or filter them, and enrich selected links | Design for multiple results instead of assuming a single page |
The exact fields shown after choosing a resource depend on the installed node version. If a resource or option described in current AI Studio documentation is missing from your node, use the HTTP Request fallback after confirming the current API contract.
How do I run a first AI-Scraper workflow?
Scraper is the clearest first test because it accepts one target and lets you inspect either Markdown or structured JSON immediately.
- Add a Manual Trigger node, or use the trigger that will eventually start your production workflow.
- Add the Oxylabs AI Studio node and select the saved credential.
- Set the resource to Scraper.
- Enter one publicly reachable target URL. Keep the first test limited to a page you are allowed to access and process.
- Enter an instruction that states the required information and its boundaries. For example, ask for the article title, publication date, and author, rather than asking for an undefined summary.
- Choose an output format: Markdown for a complete, readable representation, or JSON for named fields.
- If you choose JSON, define a schema for each field you expect. Give fields useful names and describe the expected type or content in the schema editor.
- Click Execute workflow and open the node’s output panel.
- Check the returned item before adding more nodes. Confirm that the expected fields exist, that an empty result is handled, and that the response is not an authentication or target-access error.
Use the output panel as the contract for the next node. If the result is an object, map its properties directly. If the result is text, pass the text to a parser or an LLM only after deciding how to handle missing sections and unexpected page layouts.
Should I choose Markdown or schema-defined JSON?
Choose Markdown when the next step needs broad page context; choose JSON when automation depends on stable field names.
| Output | What you receive | Advantages | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Markdown | A readable representation of the scraped page | Preserves broad context and is convenient for an LLM prompt or human review | Downstream nodes must locate values in text, so field mapping is less deterministic |
| JSON | Values organized according to a schema you define | Easy to map into database columns, conditions, and notifications | A narrow schema can omit useful context, and a changing page may leave fields empty |
When Markdown is the better contract
Use Markdown for tasks such as creating a summary, answering a question about the entire page, or sending page content to a later language-model step. Keep the prompt for that later step explicit about which sections matter and how to respond when the page does not contain the requested information.
When JSON is the better contract
Use JSON for lead records, product attributes, event details, or any workflow that writes to a structured destination. Define only fields you can act on, such as title, date, author, and canonical_url. Add a validation step in n8n that checks required fields before a database insert or notification.

Schema design example
A useful schema describes the field’s meaning rather than merely listing a name. For example, a schema for an article record could require a string title, an ISO-like date string when present, and a URL string. If a value is unavailable, decide in advance whether the workflow should receive an empty value, a null value, or be routed to an exception branch.
How should I use AI-Search results in n8n?
Set the resource to Search, enter a focused search request, execute the node, and inspect the structured result items before looping over them.
Search is useful when the workflow needs several candidate pages rather than one predetermined URL. A practical pattern is:
Recommended Free Tools
- Trigger the workflow with a search phrase or receive it from an upstream form.
- Send the phrase to the AI Studio Search resource.
- Use an n8n item-processing or loop step to handle each returned result.
- Filter by the fields that matter to your use case, such as a result title, URL, or snippet when those fields are present.
- Pass selected URLs to a second Scraper step if you need page-level extraction.
- Store the selected records and retain the original query so later users can understand why each result entered the system.
Do not assume that a search response contains exactly one result or that every result has identical fields. Add a branch for an empty result set and another for malformed or incomplete items before making external side effects.
When are Crawler and Browser Agent the right resources?
Use Crawler when the job spans multiple pages and Browser Agent when the task requires browser-style interaction; use Scraper for a single target.
AI-Crawler
A crawler workflow should have an explicit scope, such as a starting point and the subset of pages you actually need. Process returned records in batches where possible, deduplicate URLs before expensive downstream steps, and write progress to a durable destination if a long run may need to be resumed. Because the available material does not specify a universal per-page token price, measure usage in your own account before expanding a crawl.
Browser Agent
Browser Agent is appropriate for instructions that cannot be reduced to reading one static page. Describe the desired end state, the information to return, and the condition that should count as failure. Keep the first run small, inspect the returned structure, and place a human approval or validation step before an action that changes an external system.
How can I call the API with n8n’s HTTP Request node?
Use HTTP Request when the community node does not expose a parameter you need, but do not copy an endpoint example blindly between products. The Oxylabs tutorial’s Web Scraper example uses a POST request to https://realtime.oxylabs.io/v1/queries, Generic Credential Type with Basic Auth, and a JSON body. That example is for the Web Scraper API; confirm the current AI Studio endpoint, authentication fields, and request schema in the current Oxylabs documentation before adapting it.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Add an HTTP Request node to the workflow.
- Set the method and URL required by the current AI Studio API documentation.
- Choose the authentication method specified for that endpoint. The Web Scraper example uses Generic Credential Type with Basic Auth; do not assume that is the AI Studio method without checking.
- Set the request body type to JSON when the endpoint expects JSON and enter the documented payload fields.
- Keep secrets in an n8n credential. Do not place a key directly in an expression, body, or query string.
- Execute one request and inspect the HTTP status, response body, and any request identifier returned.
- Only after the response is understood should you add loops, retries, or production triggers.
The HTTP Request route gives finer control but also makes you responsible for field names, authentication, content types, error handling, and changes to the API. Keep a copy of the endpoint documentation and record the date you last verified the request format.
How many AI Studio credits does an n8n run use?
The concrete allowance stated for this integration is 1000 tokens for a free API key when a new AI Studio account is created. The available material does not provide a complete per-run schedule for Scraper, Crawler, Browser Agent, or Search, so you cannot calculate a reliable budget from the number of n8n executions alone.
Use the AI Studio account dashboard or current billing documentation to answer three separate questions:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- How many tokens remain in the account?
- How many tokens did a particular resource or request consume?
- What happens after the free allowance or a purchased balance is exhausted?
For a controlled rollout, run a small sample, record the account balance before and after the sample, and use the observed account data as an estimate only for the same resource, prompt size, target type, and account plan. Do not present that sample as a universal price because token usage can vary with the operation and returned content.
Ways to avoid accidental spend
- Keep a manual trigger while developing instead of attaching a high-frequency production trigger.
- Test with one URL or a short search request before enabling a crawler.
- Limit loops and deduplicate URLs before sending them to another AI Studio node.
- Store successful results so a retry does not repeat an expensive request unnecessarily.
- Add an explicit stop or approval branch for empty, unusually large, or unexpected responses.
Is n8n Cloud different from self-hosting for this integration?
The node configuration is essentially the same at workflow level, but operations differ. n8n Cloud reduces server maintenance; a self-hosted VPS gives you control over the runtime but makes updates, access control, backups, networking, and community-node policy your responsibility.
| Operational concern | n8n Cloud | Self-hosted n8n |
|---|---|---|
| n8n server maintenance | Managed by the n8n service | You apply updates, monitor uptime, and maintain the host |
| Community-node policy | Depends on the workspace plan and administrator settings | Depends on your n8n configuration and deployment policy |
| Outbound connectivity | Provided by the service, subject to its network rules | You must allow outbound HTTPS and resolve DNS, firewall, and proxy issues |
| Credential protection | Use n8n’s managed credential store and workspace permissions | Protect the n8n encryption key, host, backups, and administrative interface |
| Scaling and recovery | Follow the service’s execution and plan limits | Size the VPS, configure backups, and define restart and recovery procedures |
Changing hosting does not change AI Studio token accounting. Keep the same credential and workflow assumptions, then separately verify that the new runtime can reach the API and install the required node.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How do I make an AI Studio workflow reliable?
Reliability comes from treating the AI Studio response as an external dependency rather than assuming every run returns a complete record.
Validate before writing
After the AI Studio node, check that the response exists and that required fields have the expected type. Route missing or malformed data to an error branch instead of inserting it into a database as if it were complete.

Separate retrieval from interpretation
Keep the extraction step separate from summarization, classification, or notification. Saving the raw Markdown or JSON makes it possible to reprocess a result without paying for the retrieval again, subject to your retention and privacy rules.
Make retries deliberate
Retry transient network failures with a bounded policy, but do not blindly retry authentication errors, invalid payloads, or a target that consistently returns an access denial. A retry can consume additional tokens, so log the reason and attempt count.
Control concurrency
When processing a list of URLs, limit parallel work to what your n8n instance and AI Studio account can sustain. Start with sequential processing, measure duration and usage, then increase concurrency only when the account dashboard and downstream systems support it.

What should I check when the node fails?
| Symptom | Likely cause | Check or fix |
|---|---|---|
| The node cannot be found | The community node is not installed or installation is restricted | Search again after refreshing n8n; ask the workspace administrator to review community-node permissions. |
| Authentication or unauthorized error | Wrong key, an extra space, an expired key, or the wrong credential selected | Open the credential, re-enter the current key, save it, and run a one-item test. Rotate a key that may have leaked. |
| Resource options are missing | The installed node version does not expose the option you expected | Check the node version and current AI Studio documentation; use HTTP Request only after verifying the current endpoint and payload. |
| Empty or incomplete extraction | The page changed, the target blocked access, or the schema is too narrow | Test the URL manually where permitted, broaden or clarify the instruction, and add a missing-field branch. |
| HTTP 4xx from HTTP Request | Incorrect endpoint, authentication mode, body, or required field | Compare every method, URL, header, credential type, and JSON property with the current API documentation. Do not reuse a Web Scraper example as an AI Studio contract. |
| Workflow suddenly consumes more tokens | A loop, crawler scope, prompt, or returned content grew | Inspect item counts and response sizes, deduplicate inputs, narrow the scope, and compare the account dashboard before and after a controlled run. |
What security practices matter for this connection?
- Use n8n credentials for the API key and restrict credential access to the users and workflows that need it.
- Never commit exported workflow JSON containing a secret, even if the workflow appears inactive.
- Redact keys and sensitive page content from execution logs that are shared with other operators.
- Use HTTPS for the n8n editor and API traffic, and protect a self-hosted instance with strong administrator authentication and network controls.
- Review whether scraped pages contain personal, confidential, or copyrighted information before storing or forwarding them.
- Rotate the AI Studio key after staff changes, accidental exposure, or a move between environments.
What is the safest rollout sequence?
Use a staged rollout so credit usage and data quality are visible before automation becomes continuous.
- Connect one credential and run one Scraper request against one permitted public URL.
- Inspect Markdown and JSON choices and select the format that matches the downstream node.
- Add validation and an error branch before adding a database, message, or external action.
- Test Search, Crawler, or Browser Agent separately rather than changing the resource inside a production workflow.
- Measure account usage in the AI Studio dashboard for a small sample.
- Attach the final trigger, set a bounded schedule or input size, and monitor item counts and failures.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I reuse one AI Studio credential in several n8n workflows?
Yes. Select the same saved credential in each workflow rather than copying the API key into every node. Use separate credentials for development and production when different teams or access policies require isolation.
Does an n8n workflow execution equal one AI Studio token charge?
Not necessarily. A single execution can contain several AI Studio nodes or a loop over many items, and token usage is tied to the AI Studio operation and returned work. Check the account dashboard for actual consumption.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

The documented setup presents Markdown and schema-defined JSON as selectable output formats. If a workflow needs both representations, run the appropriate extraction deliberately or retain the structured result and generate a separate readable view downstream.
What should I do if a target page requires login?
Do not place website credentials in an unverified workflow or prompt. Confirm that the selected AI Studio resource and the target site’s terms permit the access, then use an approved authentication design and test with non-sensitive data first.
