No—progress from the 2013 Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag does not carry into Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. An independent review answers the import question negatively, while Ubisoft’s own material describes Resynced as a remake rebuilt on a newer Anvil engine and documents cloud cross-progression only among Resynced versions. You should therefore treat the remake as a new playthrough. You can keep playing your original save in its compatible environment, and you can move a save made in Resynced between supported platforms by using the same Ubisoft account. Neither feature converts an old Black Flag save into a Resynced save.

Can I import my original Black Flag save into Resynced?

What is the difference between an original save, cross-progression and New Game+?
These features involve different source saves and different destinations. The following table shows what each one actually does.

Ubisoft’s support article uses the wording, “Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced supports automatic cross-progression between all platforms.” Read in context, “all platforms” means the platforms on which Resynced is available, not every Black Flag release. The support page requires the same Ubisoft account to access the cloud save on another platform: Ubisoft Help’s cross-progression article.
What should I do with my existing 2013 playthrough?
If preserving that campaign is your priority, continue it in the original game rather than deleting it or expecting Resynced to recognize it. PlayStation says the original PS4 version remains playable on PS5 through backward compatibility, separately from the PS5 remake: PlayStation’s Black Flag Resynced page.

- Keep the original installation and its save data until you have finished anything you want to finish in that version.
- On PS5, launch the PS4 edition when you want the old campaign; launching Resynced starts a separate game.
- Do not overwrite or remove the original save while troubleshooting the remake. A backup protects the old playthrough, but it does not make the file importable.
The available sources do not establish an equivalent compatibility promise for every other platform or edition. Check the platform’s own backward-compatibility rules for your specific original release.
How do I start Resynced without confusing the two saves?
Use a clean separation: preserve the old game, then create and identify a new Resynced save.
- Confirm which game you are launching. The 2013 title and the 2026 remake are separate products. Select the original edition when you need its existing campaign.
- Install Resynced on a supported platform. Ubisoft released it on July 9, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Ubisoft’s release information lists the available PC storefront and subscription options: Ubisoft’s launch guide.
- Sign in with the Ubisoft account you intend to keep using. This account is the key to Resynced’s documented cloud cross-progression. It does not attach the old game’s local save to the remake.
- Begin a new Resynced campaign. Expect to recreate story, exploration and upgrades rather than seeing the 2013 completion state appear.
- For a platform change, close the game normally and start Resynced on the other platform with the same Ubisoft account. The documented feature is automatic cross-progression between Resynced platforms. If the expected save is missing, first check the account identity and network synchronization before considering any local-file action.
How does Resynced cross-progression work?
Cross-progression is for a Resynced save that already exists. When you sign into the same Ubisoft account on another supported Resynced platform, Ubisoft says the cloud save can be accessed there automatically. It is not a bridge between the original 2013 game and the remake.

Platform access and save access are separate questions. The support excerpt confirms the account requirement for the cloud save, but it does not establish that purchasing the game once grants every platform entitlement, or that downloadable-content ownership automatically transfers with the save. Confirm store and subscription requirements for the destination platform before assuming the save alone grants access.
What does New Game+ do in Resynced?
New Game+ is an internal Resynced replay option, not an importer. Ubisoft’s October 26, 2026 update article says Title Update 1.0.8 added New Game+ for a previous Resynced run. It carries specified gear, upgrades and resources into the new run while resetting story and location progress: Ubisoft’s Title Update 1.0.8 article.
That timing is important. Older guides published before the October update may say New Game+ was unavailable; those guides are not current descriptions of the game. New Game+ can help you replay Resynced with selected advantages after you have built a Resynced save, but it cannot read completion data from the 2013 release.

Can copying files or using a converter transfer the old save?
No supported workaround is established. The available documentation does not provide a file-copy procedure, third-party converter, save editor or other method that converts an original Black Flag save into Resynced. Copying files between installation folders is therefore not a proven solution and could put the original save at risk.
There is also no published statistic showing that a certain percentage of old saves transfer successfully. If a forum post claims a particular folder, tool or success rate, treat it as unverified unless Ubisoft documents it for your platform and edition.

Resynced launched for current-generation consoles and PC, but those access requirements do not change save compatibility. For PC, the Ubisoft Store lists 65 GB of storage on an SSD with a DRAM cache. That is a hardware requirement for running the remake, not a measurement of save-transfer reliability: Ubisoft Store PC requirements.
