The player tank is MW4 DMZ’s strongest dedicated ground-combat platform, but it is not the fastest vehicle and it is not a universal answer to every threat. It carries only two players, has finite armor and fuel, requires a special four-part unlock route, and must use Gas Stations for upkeep. Its main gun is reported to destroy most vehicles in one shot, while the Dreadnought and Grizzly are better for rapid ground movement, the LTV is the most practical armed transport, the Heli owns fast air travel, and the RHIB is the water specialist.
The useful way to compare the roster is by role: survivability, mobility, maintenance, firepower and squad capacity. No authoritative launch-era table establishes exact armor points, top speeds, fuel capacities or burn rates, so the comparisons below use the published qualitative descriptions rather than invented numbers.
| Name | Best for | Key spec | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Player tank | Maximum ground combat presence | Two seats; powerful main gun; finite armor and fuel | Oct 2026 |
| LTV | Armed squad transport | Optional mounted .50 Cal; paid-infil version described as heavily armored | Oct 2026 |
| Dreadnought | Protected, fast off-road travel | Advanced armor; all-wheel drive; speed and agility | Oct 2026 |
| Grizzly | Agile hit-and-run movement | Light armor; quick handling | Oct 2026 |
| Polaris Dagor A1 | Moving a full squad over rough ground | Light armor; full-squad off-road transport | Oct 2026 |
| Heli | Rapid player-controlled air travel | Fast deployment and broad aerial mobility | Oct 2026 |
| RHIB | Fast water movement | High-speed boat; uses Marine Gas Stations | Oct 2026 |
| Heavy Chopper | Armored air support when available | Heavy armor and defensive flares; rarely player-controlled | Oct 2026 |
| Camper or Sedan | Basic civilian transport | Camper is unprotected and unarmed; Sedan is quick but not a combat vehicle | Oct 2026 |
What is the player tank in MW4 DMZ?
The tank is a special objective vehicle rather than a normal roadside pickup. It is built to survive and dominate a ground engagement, but its advantages come with two important constraints: a two-player crew and the same finite fuel-and-armor economy that affects every DMZ vehicle. One player drives and one additional player occupies the other seat, so a full squad cannot ride inside it.

DMZTracker’s 2026 guide reports that the tank’s main gun can one-shot most vehicles. That makes it especially valuable against enemy cars and trucks, where a single accurate shot can remove the target before it escapes. The same guide warns that the tank is not a guaranteed answer to other tanks; the exact damage relationship between armored vehicles and launchers remains unconfirmed.

Once activated, the tank can be driven around Hajin. It is therefore a mobile combat platform, not a stationary objective that disappears after the unlock interaction. Its practical strength depends on whether the squad can keep it fueled, repair its armor and withdraw when the route to a Gas Station becomes unsafe.
How do you get the tank?
You must assemble four named components at Chang-san Air Base, then complete the installation inside Operation Iron Citadel. The tank cannot simply be taken from a public road like an ordinary car.
- Collect the Tank Alternator. This is one of the four required parts.
- Collect the Tank Battery. Keep it in the inventory for the deployment.
- Collect the Tank Plugs. The component is listed separately from the battery and alternator.
- Collect the Tank Water Pump. All four parts must be available together.
- Deploy on Operation Iron Citadel with the Tank Alternator, Tank Battery, Tank Plugs and Tank Water Pump in the inventory.
- Reach the Tank Depot inside the Armory. The installation point is at the back of the tank.
- Install the parts. After the interaction, the tank becomes operational and can be driven around Hajin.
Because the route requires a specific operation and a complete component set, the tank is a planned objective rather than an opportunistic vehicle grab. A squad should decide in advance who will carry the parts and how it will reach a repair or refueling point after activation.
Which vehicle has the most armor?
The player tank has the strongest confirmed combat-survivability role in the available launch-era material. That is a role assessment, not a published hit-point ranking: no authoritative source supplies exact armor values for the tank or its rivals.
Player tank: top combat protection and firepower
The tank combines limited armor with a main gun designed for vehicle combat. It is the clearest choice when the objective is to push through hostile ground positions or break enemy transport, provided the crew can manage fuel and repairs. Its two-seat layout prevents it from replacing a squad transport for ordinary movement.
LTV: the strongest conventional armed transport
The LTV is the most combat-oriented ordinary ground vehicle. It can carry a mounted .50 Cal, giving the squad direct suppressive fire without requiring a separate gun platform. The community guide describes its paid-infil version as heavily armored, but that description should not be treated as a numerical comparison with the tank.

Dreadnought: advanced armor with mobility
The Dreadnought is an all-wheel-drive tactical SUV with advanced armor, strong off-road ability, speed and agility. It sacrifices the tank’s heavy-combat presence for a package that is easier to maneuver through uneven terrain and quicker between objectives.
Grizzly: light protection for agile attacks
The Grizzly is explicitly described as light on armor but quick and agile. It suits hit-and-run engagements, flank routes and rapid repositioning; it is not designed to stand in the open and trade fire with a tank or a fortified enemy.
Polaris Dagor A1: protected full-squad movement
The Polaris Dagor A1 has light armor and is intended to move a full squad across rough ground. Its value is getting people and equipment over difficult terrain, not absorbing sustained fire as a dedicated combat vehicle.
Camper and Sedan: civilian transport only
The Camper is explicitly unprotected and unarmed. The Sedan is a quick transport option, but neither vehicle should be selected for a planned firefight when a protected alternative is available.
Heavy Chopper: armored aircraft, limited control
The Heavy Chopper is heavily armored and carries defensive flares, but it is rarely controlled by players. That makes it a poor substitute for the player tank in an ordinary ground engagement, even though its airframe is harder to damage than lighter transport options.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIs the tank faster than other vehicles?
No. The tank’s advantage is protected movement through a fight, not raw traversal speed. The Grizzly is called quick and agile, the Dreadnought combines speed with off-road handling, the RHIB is a high-speed boat, and the Heli is designed for rapid deployment. Those descriptions do not establish a measured top-speed order, but they do rule out calling the tank the fastest vehicle.

| Need | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fast ground repositioning with protection | Dreadnought | Advanced armor, all-wheel drive, speed and off-road ability |
| Light, agile ground movement | Grizzly | Quick handling for hit-and-run positioning |
| Full squad across rough terrain | Polaris Dagor A1 | Lightly armored off-road transport for the whole squad |
| Combat transport | LTV | Optional mounted .50 Cal and conventional armored role |
| Player-controlled air travel | Heli | Rapid deployment and broad aerial mobility |
| Armored air movement | Heavy Chopper | Heavy armor and flares, but usually not player-controlled |
| Water travel | RHIB | High-speed boat intended for maritime routes |
| Route-based transit | Train or Tram | Neither is player-controlled; the Train is rapid, while the Tram follows a slower city loop |
Choose the tank when contact is expected during the route. Choose the Dreadnought or Grizzly when reaching the destination quickly matters more than delivering a decisive opening shot. A tank that arrives late, runs out of fuel or cannot fit the squad may be less useful than a faster, smaller vehicle.
Does the tank run out of fuel?
Yes. Every DMZ vehicle has finite fuel and armor, including the player tank. Ground and air vehicles can be repaired and refueled at Gas Stations. Boats use Marine Gas Stations, and Gas Cans can be refilled at either station type.
Call of Duty Staff’s October 5, 2026 official guide states: “Vehicles in DMZ require repair and refueling.” That system is a major difference from Warzone, where the same guide says vehicles do not require repair and refueling.
How to keep a tank operational
- Plan a station route before engaging. A tank’s combat value falls sharply if the next safe Gas Station is far away.
- Use Gas Stations for both jobs. They restore fuel and repair ground or air vehicles; do not treat fuel and armor as separate systems that can be ignored.
- Use Marine Gas Stations for boats. A RHIB cannot use an ordinary land-station route in place of maritime support.
- Carry or refill Gas Cans when practical. Gas Cans can be refilled at either station type and provide another maintenance option.
- Account for tire damage. Some Traits can help with vehicle maintenance, including exiting to repair a punctured tire.
The reviewed sources do not establish the tank’s fuel capacity, fuel-burn rate or exact repair amount. Treat the fuel gauge and station locations as operational limits rather than trying to plan around an unverified number.
How do the main alternatives compare with the tank?
LTV versus tank
The LTV is the practical choice when more than two squad members need to travel together and the group wants a weapon mounted on a conventional transport. The tank wins when the objective is to destroy enemy vehicles and force a ground engagement; the LTV wins when carrying a squad is part of the mission.
Dreadnought versus tank
The Dreadnought is better for routes that combine rough terrain with a need for speed. Its advanced armor gives it more protection than a light scout vehicle, while its all-wheel drive and agility make it easier to reposition than a tank. Select the tank when the fight itself is the destination.

Grizzly versus tank
The Grizzly is a hit-and-run tool. It can reach a flank or escape a losing fight quickly, but its light armor makes prolonged exposure dangerous. The tank is slower in role terms but can turn an encounter into a direct vehicle battle.
Polaris Dagor A1 versus tank
The Dagor is the better logistics vehicle for a full squad crossing rough ground. The tank is better for a two-person assault crew that expects to use its main gun. Do not select the Dagor expecting tank-level protection.
Heli or Heavy Chopper versus tank
The Heli is the rapid air option when players need to cross the map or bypass ground obstacles. The Heavy Chopper adds armor and defensive flares but is rarely player-controlled, so availability and control matter as much as survivability. Neither aircraft replaces the tank’s direct ground-fire role.
RHIB versus tank
The RHIB is the specialist for water routes. Its speed matters on rivers and coastal passages, but it depends on Marine Gas Stations and cannot provide the tank’s ground-combat presence.
What do the paid-infil vehicle prices mean?
DMZMap lists these 2026 paid-infil figures. They are acquisition prices, not measurements of armor, speed or fuel economy, and they should not be read as a balance ranking.

What is still unverified about vehicle stats?
Launch-era sources do not provide a reliable universal table for vehicle armor, top speed, fuel capacity or fuel-burn rate. Do not convert labels such as “light armor,” “advanced armor,” “fast” or “heavily armored” into invented hit points or kilometers per hour.
DMZTracker specifically says the tank’s damage taken from launchers and its fuel speed remain unconfirmed. DMZ Codex notes that preview footage described reactive armor reducing RPG damage, but no reliable launch-version weak-point rule or fixed-shot test is established. That means a launcher interaction should be treated as uncertain rather than promised as a specific number of hits.
There is also no single agreed roster count. DMZMap’s launch guide presents 14 named vehicles, while DMZ Codex lists 16 records, reflecting different inclusion rules for support, infiltration or watercraft entries. The practical comparison here separates player-usable vehicles from autonomous transport instead of claiming one definitive total.

How should a squad operate a tank?
Use the tank as a coordinated two-person weapon, not as a solo substitute for a complete squad transport.
- Assign roles before activation. One player drives and one player handles the additional seat; the rest of the squad must travel separately or stage nearby.
- Mark the next maintenance point. Identify a Gas Station before beginning a long push, and remember that a damaged vehicle may need to disengage before it can reach safety.
- Use the main gun on vehicles first. Its reported one-shot performance against most vehicles makes enemy transport the clearest high-value target.
- Avoid assuming tank-on-tank dominance. The sources do not establish a universal advantage against other tanks or launcher damage.
- Keep an exit route. Limited fuel and armor mean that winning one engagement does not guarantee the tank can survive the next leg.
- Do not confuse armor with immunity. The tank is a protected combat platform, not an invulnerable object, and exact weak points are not confirmed.
How we picked the comparisons
The ranking uses five practical criteria from the published vehicle descriptions: survivability and exposure to gunfire; mobility, agility and terrain access; fuel and repair requirements; combat utility such as mounted weapons, the tank gun or defensive flares; and squad utility, including seats and whether the vehicle is player-controlled. Qualitative labels are kept qualitative because no authoritative numeric stat sheet is available.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the player tank carry a full four-person squad?
No. The tank has two seats: one for the driver and one additional player. A full squad must use another vehicle, split its movement or stage members near the tank’s route.
Can the tank destroy another tank in one shot?
That is not established. The reported one-shot capability applies to most vehicles, while tank-versus-tank results and launcher damage remain unconfirmed in the available launch-era guides.
Do trains and trams consume fuel like drivable vehicles?
They are autonomous, route-based transports rather than player-controlled vehicles. The comparison sources identify their routes and control limitations but do not publish a player-managed fuel system for them.
Why are some vehicle roster lists different sizes?
Different databases count support, infiltration and watercraft entries differently. One launch guide lists 14 named vehicles, while another database records 16, so the count depends on inclusion rules rather than a confirmed gameplay change.
