Case fit
The board measures 170 × 170 mm and uses the Mini-ITX form factor. Choose a case that explicitly supports Mini-ITX, then check the case’s CPU-cooler height, graphics-card length and thickness, radiator support, and cable-clearance limits against the parts you plan to install. The motherboard’s dimensions alone do not establish that the rest of a build will fit.

CPU and expansion compatibility
MSI lists Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 desktop CPUs, but processor family affects the board’s expansion bandwidth. Its single CPU-connected PCIe slot is listed as PCIe 5.0 x16 with Ryzen 9000 and 7000, PCIe 4.0 x8 with Ryzen 8700, 8600, or 8400, and PCIe 4.0 x4 with Ryzen 8500 or 8300. Confirm the exact processor against MSI’s current CPU compatibility information before buying; a family-level support statement does not mean every CPU exposes the same links.
Memory and storage: plan around the actual layout
DDR5 memory
There are two DDR5 UDIMM slots, with a listed maximum capacity of 128 GB and dual-channel support. MSI lists AMD EXPO and memory overclocking support, but advertised overclocked speeds depend on the processor and memory configuration rather than being guaranteed for every kit or two-module setup. Check MSI’s memory compatibility list for the exact kit and configuration.

M.2 and SATA drives
The board has two M.2 2280 slots and two SATA 6 Gb/s ports. The CPU-connected M.2_1 slot is listed for PCIe 5.0 x4 with Ryzen 9000 or 7000 and PCIe 4.0 x4 with Ryzen 8000; the chipset-connected M.2_2 slot is PCIe 4.0 x4. If you are choosing a Gen 5 drive, the CPU’s generation matters to the top slot’s listed link. The two SATA ports provide an alternative for compatible SATA storage.

Wired networking is Realtek 8126 5G LAN. Wireless connectivity is listed as Wi-Fi 7 across 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands, with up to 320 MHz channel width and a maximum stated rate of 5.8 Gbps, plus Bluetooth 5.4. The 5.8 Gbps figure is a vendor maximum, not a prediction of internet speed; actual wireless operation depends on compatible equipment and conditions. MSI also says 6 GHz use is subject to local regulations and flags operating-system and version readiness.

Rear USB comprises two USB 5 Gbps Type-A ports, three USB 10 Gbps Type-A ports, and one USB 20 Gbps Type-C port. Internal headers provide front USB 10 Gbps Type-C and front USB 5 Gbps Type-A, so the case must have matching front-panel connections to use them. What to check before choosing this board
- Case: Confirm Mini-ITX support and clearances for the cooler, graphics card, and other components.
- CPU: Check the exact processor’s compatibility and the PCIe link widths it enables for the graphics slot and first M.2 slot.
- Memory: Verify the DDR5 kit against MSI’s memory list, especially if you intend to use an EXPO profile.
- Storage: Decide which drive belongs in each M.2 slot and whether two SATA ports are sufficient for your planned devices.
