What is confirmed about Ascendance
Capcom describes Ascendance as a paid expansion planned for 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It requires the base Monster Hunter Wilds game. The announcement does not establish a more specific release date or provide performance specifications. Capcom’s announcement has the release details.
The PlayStation preview says players must reach Hunter Rank 40 and complete “Awaking From a Dream” to start the expansion’s story and enter Master Rank at launch. Why the aerial-combat wording needs a qualification
Capcom’s PlayStation Blog preview says, “The Boost Bracer is a new piece of equipment that enables new abilities via the Hunter’s Slinger.” It describes the Boost Bracer as temporarily enhancing capabilities across the 14 weapon types, while Boost Driver abilities can create openings before the hunter attacks during the temporary Boost state. Official Steam previews also cover Boosted Actions for all 14 weapon types.

These announcements explain why players may care about clear visuals and consistent frame pacing during combat. They do not establish that a specific announced action is an aerial move, or that changing a graphics option improves its execution. No official Ascendance-specific setting recommendation or performance measurement is available in the sources reviewed.
Provisional PC guidance applies to the base game only
Capcom’s August 13, 2026 update summary for base-game Ver. 1.042.00.02 says the latest game version is required for online multiplayer and DLC access. It also records efforts to address frame-rate drops in some environments after Ver. 1.042.00.01. Its driver recommendations are dated guidance for the base game, not a tested Ascendance configuration:
- NVIDIA: GeForce driver 581.57 or newer.
- AMD: Radeon driver 25.9.1 or newer. The same notice warns that AMD 25.10.2 and higher caused issues on certain PCs, including some systems with RX 5500 XT or RX 7800 XT graphics cards; it does not say all AMD cards are affected.
These are the versions named in Capcom’s dated notice, not a claim that they are the newest drivers as of October 2026. Check the official Steam announcements for the update summary and any later compatibility notice before changing drivers.

Until the expansion’s settings and performance are documented, changing a setting based on a base-game guide would be a guess. When you can run the expansion, compare options on your own platform and hardware in a repeatable combat scene rather than relying on a single visual impression.

- Upscaling and frame generation: First confirm whether Ascendance offers these features on your platform; support and results are not established in the announcements reviewed.
- Platform and hardware: Record the platform, hardware, game version, and settings for each comparison. A result on one PC or console does not automatically transfer to another.
For a fair comparison, keep the scene and other settings consistent, change one option at a time, and repeat the test. Treat any result as specific to that build and setup; patch changes can alter performance.
