Yes—Microsoft documented Dev Home for Windows 10 version 22H2 (build 19045) or later. But it is no longer a new or actively maintained app: Microsoft said it would go away in May 2025, and its GitHub repository was archived on June 5, 2025. Historical installation routes are documented, but their current availability is not confirmed.
What Dev Home did
Microsoft introduced Dev Home on May 30, 2023, as an open-source Windows experience for developers. It was intended as “a centralized location for setting up your machine, monitoring your system information, and managing your projects,” according to the Windows Developer Blog.
The initial release included system resource widgets displaying CPU, GPU, network, and memory information. Microsoft also described an extension and customization model for tailoring the experience. A later developer blog discussed extending Dev Home for game development, but that does not change the app’s subsequent discontinuation notice.
Which Windows 10 version was required?
Windows 10 support was limited to version 22H2, build 19045, or newer, according to the Microsoft Dev Home repository. Saying simply “Windows 10” misses this version requirement. The same documentation listed Windows 11 version 21H2, build 22000, or newer.

Can you still install Dev Home?
The archived project documentation listed the Microsoft Store as the preferred installation method, GitHub releases for manual installation, and WinGet with the package ID Microsoft.DevHome. These are the project’s documented routes, not confirmation that the app or package can still be obtained through each one today. The available information does not establish current access across those channels.
Why the “now available” headline is out of date
The repository’s notice said, “Dev Home will be going away in May 2025 and a subset of its features will be moved to new places.” GitHub marks the repository as archived on June 5, 2025. Microsoft described a subset of features moving elsewhere but did not identify the destination for each feature in the cited notice; it would be misleading to promise a particular replacement.

Dev Home’s discontinuation is separate from Windows 10’s end of support. Microsoft says Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. Windows 10 PCs continue to function, but no longer receive regular software updates, security updates, or technical support from Microsoft. Microsoft recommends upgrading eligible devices to Windows 11; eligible users can also consider Consumer Extended Security Updates, while devices that cannot run Windows 11 may need replacing. See Microsoft’s Windows 10 support guidance for the applicable options.
