What AppXRay tracked
CRN described AppXRay as maintaining dependency information across web application source files. Its purpose was to help developers follow the relationships between application elements when code changed, rather than limit attention to the file being edited.
- It could identify variables that affected a page indirectly.
- It could show where variables called by an application were defined.
- It notified developers when source-file changes affected interconnected fields or variables.
This description presents AppXRay as a way to make cross-file effects more visible during development. The reviewed CRN article does not provide performance measurements or establish how the feature behaved in particular projects.
What NitroX offered JSP developers
NitroX was described as a JSP editor with both source-oriented tooling and visual JSP work. CRN reported JSP rendering and drag-and-drop tag editing alongside support for JSP, Java, HTML, and JavaScript.

Framework extensions and proprietary code
CRN described Struts and JavaServer Faces (JSF) as optional extensions. It reported a historical price of $499 for NitroX with Struts; the article’s publication year is not established in the reviewed page, so this figure should not be treated as current pricing.
The article also characterized NitroX as avoiding proprietary JSP code tied to a particular application. It contrasted that approach with native extensions it attributed to IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer and BEA Workshop. This is CRN’s historical framing, not a current product comparison or evidence about present-day compatibility.

What CRN reported about M7’s channel program
At the time of the article, CRN characterized M7’s channel program as minimal. It listed basic sales, marketing, and technical support, discounts, and early access to releases.
