LG V35 ThinQ: At First Glance

With the LG V Series, LG keeps experimenting with devices to reach the utmost stylish standards. With each device, changes are made to further reflect a stylish yet productive device.

The devices in the V series have great display features and the LG V35 ThinQ is no exception. At first glance, it appears as though the design of the LG V35 ThinQ is similar to that of the LG V30 ThinQ.

Most importantly, the LG V35 ThinQ’s design is quite appropriate considering that it is pretty pricey. Merely looking at the device you would conclude that the smartphone’s design is pretty stylish.

However, taking a look at its specs may have you making comparisons to the previous smartphones in the LG V Series.

In the next sections, we will find out if this upgrade is a hit or miss.

LG V35 ThinQ: Design, Dimension & Weight

The LG V35 ThinQ takes on the design of the LG V Series. Just like its two other predecessors in the V30 series, it is stylish.

Moreso, as I mentioned earlier, the design of the LG V35 ThinQ, is similar to the design of the LG V30 ThinQ. Both devices share a similar weight and build.

Moreover, the LG V35 ThinQ is a solidly built smartphone with an all-glass design. It matches this with a glossy and attractive aluminum frame that ensures the device can withstand bends.

Furthermore, the LG V35 ThinQ is MIL-STD-810G compliant. Not only that, but this smartphone is also IP68 dust/water resistant up to 1.5m for 30 minutes

Looking at this device at first glance, it is only fair to describe it as aesthetically pleasing. It features a rectangular construction with slightly curved corners.

Interestingly, the LG V35 ThinQ maintains the same dimensions as its predecessor, the LG V30 ThinQ. Both phones measure 151.6 x 75.4 x 7.3 mm.

Based on these dimensions, the LG V35 ThinQ you’ll struggle a little bit to fit the phone in one hand.

Additionally, the LG V35 ThinQ weighs 157.9 g which is slightly heavier than the preferred smartphone weight of an average user.

The device has slim bezels around the 6.0-inch display compensating for what it lacks in weight. Similar to its weight, the 6.0-inch screen of the LG V35 ThinQ is also above the average size preferred by most smartphone users.

However, this is a rather welcome innovation as it matches with the preceding LG V Series.

On the front view, there is a front camera as well as proximity and ambient light sensor. These are located on the left side of the secondary screen.

Moving on to the back view of the LG V35 ThinQ, you’ll find horizontal dual rear cameras and a fingerprint sensor. This fingerprint sensor doubles as the power and the unlock button of the device.

At the bottom of the LG V35 ThinQ, you’ll find a USB Type-C charging port and the device’s speakers. Just beside these features, you’ll find a microphone and a 3.5mm combo headphone.

The left side of the device houses the volume buttons. Meanwhile, the right side houses the SIM and microSD slot.

In terms of color options, the LG V35 ThinQ is available in Aurora Black and Platinum Blue.

In summary, the LG V35 ThinQ is similar to the LG V30 ThinQ, yet still maintains such a stylish design. The combination of glass, glossy aluminum, and water resistance makes it such a stylish and efficient device.

Therefore, considering the factors above, I will rate the LG V35 ThinQ an eight in this design review section

LG V35 ThinQ: Display Features

The LG V35 ThinQ features a 6.0-inch OLED display.

This display also has a QHD+ display resolution display of  2280 x 1440 pixels. This resolution amounts to a very clear display of texts and even icons.

This display resolution is similar to the display resolution of the Google Pixel 2 XL.

With its 538 PPI pixel density, the LG V35 produces a very brilliant display of color. This display quality is a little improvement of the LG V30 ThinQ which has a 537 PPI pixel density.

The LG V35 ThinQ displays color vividly. This was clear when I streamed the new episodes of The Good Doctor – the custom blue colors of the surgeon’s scrubs were very distinct alongside the imagery.

As regards the aspect ratio, LG V35 ThinQ has an 18.9 aspect ratio which is the usual aspect ratio value for many top-tier devices.

The aspect ratio of the LG V35 ThinQ is similar to that of two of its closest competitors – Google Pixel 2 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. This is as a result of both devices having an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Finally, the display of this LG smartphone is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass to prevent scratches and cracks on the screen.

In conclusion, the LG V35 ThinQ bags are a comfortable eight in this review for its great display features.

LG V35 ThinQ: Camera Features

The LG V35 ThinQ features a 16 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera.

First things first, the rear camera isn’t a single camera. Rather, it is a dual camera comprising two 16 MP cameras.

One of them is the standard lens while the other is a wide-angle camera.

The standard lens allows users to take excellent single pictures in real-time. On the other hand, the wide-angle camera offers a dynamic range that allows users to take clear and excellent group pictures.

Additionally, photos taken in ample outdoor lighting were brighter and sharper than those taken indoors.

The front-facing camera is not left out in producing high-quality images. The selfies were bright and showed excellent skin tones.

Just like the rear camera, in well-lit environments, the selfie camera offers decent selfies with good details. However, pictures taken in night mode weren’t great.

Both cameras of the LG V35 ThinQ also feature an AI feature that can identify thousands of objects and images. The AI feature also allows users to try on numerous filters for better photos.

Overall, this device takes excellent pictures with great detail. The features of the camera are also overall great.

Therefore, the LG V35 ThinQ scores an eight in this review.

LG V35 ThinQ: Battery Life and Talk Time

The LG V35 ThinQ comes with a 3,300 mAh battery.

The battery life of this device is quite commendable without a doubt.

In addition to its already great battery life, the smartphone has a battery saver mode option that helps to save power by reducing the screen’s brightness. You can also enable the “Restrict apps in the background” option to save battery.

On a battery test that involved continuous video streaming, the LG V35 ThinQ battery lasted for 16 hours and 47 minutes. This battery life is very impressive and goes head to head against the 14-hour battery life of the LG V30 ThinQ (its predecessor).

Also, low usage of apps will have the battery life running even longer than the 14 Hours It also has an extended time browsing multiple pages on the internet.

Moreover, the LG V35 ThinQ has a fast charge and wireless charge feature. This guarantees that in addition to the great battery life, you’ll enjoy the battery of this device.

With the fast charging feature, you can enjoy charging your device to full capacity in very little time.

On the other hand, the wireless charging feature helps reduce the strain on your device’s charging port. It does this through a charging pad that allows you safely transfer power to your device.

One downside of the LG V35 ThinQ’s battery is that it is not user-replaceable. This is a disadvantage as you will not be able to replace the battery yourself if it is damaged.

Overall, the LG V35 ThinQ scores a nine in this review for its battery life.

LG V35 ThinQ: Storage Options & Performance

The LG V35 ThinQ comes with 64 GB internal storage.

Considering the price of this device, I honestly believe this storage capacity is just about average.

While the entire 64 GB isn’t available for use, a sizeable portion is available for use. This storage size will comfortably take on applications and a fair number of files.

However, if you constantly store large files, in very little time, you’ll run out of storage space on this device.

On the bright side, the LG V35 ThinQ is considerate to its users who require large storage spaces. LG offers an SD card on this phone.

Therefore, you will be able to expand your storage via an SD card of up to 2 TB capacity.

Overall, the storage on this smartphone is fair. Hence, the LG V35 ThinQ scores a six in this review for its excellent storage options.

LG V35 ThinQ: Security Features & Sensors

Smartphones have long gone beyond being used for just making and receiving calls. They have developed into mini-computers.

These additional attributes offered by modern smartphones make them stand out from older devices in providing great service. Largely, it is sensors in these devices that make them “smart”.

Sensors are tiny devices in our smartphones that take signals from the device’s surrounding environment and communicates them to the phone’s processor.

As we all know, modern smartphones are equipped with an array of sensors and LG V35 ThinQ is no exception. The LG V35 ThinQ features 5 sensors.

The LG V35 ThinQ also has an accelerometer, compass, fingerprint, gyro, and proximity sensor.

The accelerometer helps your smartphone respond to changes in direction. With the help of an accelerometer, your device can switch between portrait and landscape.

As I previously stated, the LG V35 ThinQ also features a proximity sensor. This sensor detects when the smartphone is close to your ear or in your pocket.

With the help of this sensor, your device is able to switch off the display function to save battery power.

For your security, the LG V35 ThinQ also features a fingerprint sensor. Via the fingerprint sensor, your device restricts unauthorized access to your device.

In conclusion, the LG V35 ThinQ scores an eight in this review for its average collection of sensors.
