In this review, I will go through a detailed analysis to give you all the information you might be seeking about LG Stylo 4 Plus. In this process, I will critique the smartphone’s design, display, camera, storage, security & sensors, and battery.

Furthermore, I will go on to highlight the smartphone’s strengths, weaknesses, and other features. At the end of this review, you will get an expert’s opinion about the LG Stylo 4 Plus.

My Initial Thoughts

LG Stylo 4 Plus Review: My Initial Thoughts

The LG Stylo 4 Plus can be regarded as an affordable option to the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. It seems as though the smartphone looks to serve as an alternative choice to anyone who cannot afford the Galaxy Note 9.

Although it is a bit excessive to compare the LG Stylo 4 Plus with a high-end smartphone such as the Galaxy Note 9, some of the LG Stylo 4 Plus’s features warrants this comparison. For instance, they both feature built-in styluses, and both run on Android Oreo 8.1.

Aside from that, they are quite different in terms of build, processors, and other specs. Overall, judging from its specs, the LG Stylo 4 Plus promises to be a competent budget smartphone.

LG Stylo 4 Plus Design, Dimension & Weight Review

As you might expect, the LG Stylo 4 Plus is mostly plastic built, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Note 9’s all-glass design. Though this construction choice means the LG Stylo 4 Plus is bound to feel a bit cheap – surprisingly, it has a nice build that hardly feels cheap.

Its slightly premium build can be attributed to the metal chassis around its sides and its beautiful glass display. However, the shiny plastic black covering on the LG Stylo 4 Plus makes it feel less premium.

You might need to get a phone casing to protect the back covering of this smartphone when you purchase it. The reason for this is because the back covering has a high tendency of retaining stains and easily getting scratched.

However, you should note that getting a phone case means you will be partially covering up the beauty of the smartphone.

That aside, the design and build of the LG Stylo 4 Plus are applaudable. Its screen and back panel are slightly curved – making the smartphone more comfortable on the palm.

Moreover, the LG Stylo 4 Plus has a nice and portable form factor even with its big screen. The smartphone measures 160 x 77.7 x 8.3 mm and weighs 170.9 g.

For a smartphone of its size, its 170.9 g weight is admirable. As a result, holding the smartphone for an extended period of time should not really be an issue.

Speaking of its form factor, the LG Stylo 4 Plus bezels are relatively thin. With an 18:9 aspect ratio and the fitted edges around the display, the LG Stylo 4 Plus has a high-end aesthetic.

Moving on to colors, LG Stylo 4 Plus is only available in Moroccan blue. This may not sit right with some who would have loved the luxury of multiple color choices – but it’s okay considering how gorgeous the smartphone looks.

Taking a look at the bottom edge of the smartphone, you’ll find the included stylus that functions quite well. The only issue I found with the stylus was fitting it back into its slot because there’s only one way it fits in properly – you will have to carefully spin it in to find the right angle.

Still at the bottom of the LG Stylo 4 Plus, you’ll find a USB-Type C charging port, a noise-canceling mic, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a speaker. Unlike the bottom, the top of the LG Stylo 4 Plus doesn’t feature anything.

The left side houses the up and down volume buttons while the right side houses the power button.

Above the display, you’ll find the front-facing camera, a headset, and an ambient light sensor. Meanwhile, the bottom of this display does not have any buttons.

Before concluding this design review, it is necessary to point out that the LG Stylo 4 Plus is designed to withstand some extreme conditions.

For example, it has an IP68 and MIL-STD-810G certification to prove that it is water and dust resistant. Also, it can withstand shocks, high temperature, and slight drops.

Overall, the LG Stylo 4 Plus scores an eight in this review for its excellent build and display.

LG Stylo 4 Plus Display Features Review

LG equipped LG Stylo 4 Plus with a 6.2-inch TFT display. This display has a Full HD resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels.

With a 390 PPI density, this display is sharp and crispy. In fact, it is so beautiful that it doesn’t feel cheap in any way.

Furthermore, the color reproduction on the display is excellent. Videos and photos appear accurately enough for an enjoyable viewing experience on the smartphone.

Moreover, the ratio of the display to the proportion of the smartphone enhances the viewing experience. This smartphone has a screen-to-body ratio of 79% which is impressive enough considering how wide the viewing angle is.

With the capability of reaching 476 nits at maximum brightness and 3 nits at minimum brightness, this display easily adapts to any lighting. As a result, outdoor viewing is awesome on the LG Stylo 4 Plus.

Some of the features the LG Stylo 4 Plus’s display comes with include a 2.5d curved glass screen, a stylus, and multi-touch capability. Overall, the smartphone’s display is very responsive to touch and extremely beautiful.

Hence, the LG Stylo 4 Plus scores an eight in this review for its beautiful display and the cool features it offers.

LG Stylo 4 Plus Camera Features Review

The LG Stylo 4 Plus features a 16 MP rear camera with a lens that has an aperture of f / 2.2. It also comes with a 5 MP front camera.

In terms of performance, the LG Stylo 4 Plus performed considerably better than I thought. It is an exceptional shooter for its price range.

To my surprise, the LG Stylo 4 Plus has a similar quick focus feature to those on other high-end LG smartphones. The exposure on the camera is remarkable even though it is not always perfect.

Hence, you shouldn’t expect the pictures taken with the LG Stylo 4 Plus to look as clear or sharp as the ones taken with more expensive smartphones. Nonetheless, the LG Stylo 4 Plus takes really nice pictures.

In fact, the color accuracy of the LG Stylo 4 Plus’s camera is impressive. Colors on images captured with the smartphone can easily be identified because of how solid they appear.

However, like most budget smartphones, picture quality in dark environment drastically reduces. The textures on the images tend to get a bit cloudy and a small amount of digital noise appears on the images.

Like the rear camera, the front camera on the LG Stylo 4 Plus captures beautiful selfies. Picture details and colors appear accurately. It also features auto-beauty which cleans up blemishes.

Other camera features on the LG Stylo 4 Plus includes auto-focus, digital zoom, panorama, scene mode, touch focus, and self-timer.

Overall, the LG Stylo 4 Plus scores a seven in this review for its good camera performance and excellent collection of features.

LG Stylo 4 Plus Battery Life and Talk Time Review

LG Stylo 4 Plus Battery Life and Talk Time Review

The LG Stylo 4 Plus comes with a 3300 mAh battery.

This 3300 mAh battery offers a solid usage time. In our battery test which involved continuous video playback, the LG Stylo 4 Plus lasted 13 hours 55 minutes.

On moderate use, you can expect the smartphone to last up to a day.

Also, the LG Stylo 4 Plus is capable of offering 7-8 hours of on-screen time with a fully charged battery. This is impressive considering the price of the smartphone.

In the event that the LG Stylo 4 Plus’s battery gets completely drained, you can easily charge the smartphone from 0 to 100% within 1 hour 30 minutes. This is possible thanks to its fast charging feature.

Therefore, the LG Stylo 4 Plus scores an eight in this review for its long battery life and fast charging feature.

LG Stylo 4 Plus Storage Options & Performance Review

LG Stylo 4 Plus Battery Life and Talk Time Review

LG equipped LG Stylo 4 Plus with 32 GB of internal storage. This is impressive considering that most budget smartphones are often equipped with 8-16 GB of internal storage.

Storing a large number of pictures, videos, files, or documents will not be a problem on the LG Stylo 4 Plus. However, it is important to note that the smartphone’s operating system makes partial use of internal storage.

Hence, you only get about 16 GB of space for your personal use. As a result, large apps and games will lead to quick storage space exhaustion.

Fortunately, you can expand the smartphone’s storage via a microSD card. You can expand your storage to up to 2 TB.

With up to 2 TB external storage, you can store more apps, games, pictures, and videos. Therefore, the LG Stylo 4 Plus scores an eight in this review for its excellent storage options.

LG Stylo 4 Plus Security Features & Sensors Review

Smartphone sensors are different types of sensing devices installed on smartphones to gather data for various user purposes. Many of these sensors often work in conjunction with apps.

Like most other modern smartphones, the LG Stylo 4 Plus is equipped with a number of sensors to enhance user experience. These sensors will be discussed in the preceding paragraphs.

One of the sensors featured in LG Stylo 4 Plus is an accelerometer that checks if the phone is in portrait or landscape orientation – then flips the app accordingly. Examples of apps that use this sensor include gaming apps like Asphalt Nitro.

Another sensor available in this smartphone is an ambient light sensor whose function is to manage the brightness of the screen depending on the intensity of light. Your screen’s auto-brightness uses this sensor to increase or decrease the brightness of the smartphone screen based on the availability of light.

Additionally, the LG Stylo 4 Plus features a proximity sensor that uses infrared LED and IR light detectors to know how close it is is to an outside object. When the smartphone is in close contact with your ear during phone calls, the sensor detects it and disables the touchscreen display to save battery.

Lastly, you also get a very responsive fingerprint sensor that enables biometric verification to secure your phone from unauthorized access. You can also use the fingerprint sensor in apps that require authentication such as mobile payment apps.

Overall, the LG Stylo 4 Plus scores a seven in this review for its good collection of sensors.
