LG Electronics and Microsoft announced plans to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to select internet-connected vehicles through LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP). The September 2025 announcements describe a forthcoming service, not a confirmed rollout: they do not identify supported vehicle models, markets, or a consumer launch date.
How Xbox gaming in cars is supposed to work
This is cloud gaming delivered through a vehicle’s infotainment system, not an Xbox console built into every car. Xbox said it was working with LG to integrate the Xbox app into select vehicles using LG webOS ACP. A passenger would open the app, sign in with Game Pass, connect a compatible Bluetooth controller, and stream a game. Xbox says streaming requires an automotive data plan; LG also specifies supported internet access. These are details from the companies’ announcements, not independently tested performance findings. Xbox’s announcement and LG’s announcement describe the experience.
What you would need
- A vehicle that supports the service through LG webOS ACP.
- A Game Pass subscription. LG specifies Game Pass Ultimate.
- A compatible Bluetooth controller. The announcements do not name approved controller models.
- Supported internet access and an automotive data plan for streaming.
The companies frame gaming as passenger entertainment and say the services are subject to driving-safety regulations. The announcements do not establish that a driver can play while driving; do not treat the feature as permission to do so.
Which games are included?
The announcements name examples, not a guaranteed or permanent car-game catalog. Xbox cited Gears of War: Reloaded and Forza Horizon 5, and said Ultimate subscribers could stream select games they own, including Bugsnax, Don’t Starve, and Mafia: The Old Country. LG cited Doom: The Dark Ages and Forza Horizon 5. Those examples appeared in September 2025; check the Xbox announcement and the service’s current catalog before assuming a particular title is streamable now.

Is Xbox Cloud Gaming available in cars now?
The official announcements cited here do not confirm a current consumer launch. Xbox’s September 9, 2025 post said the companies were working on the integration and that Game Pass Ultimate members would have access “soon.” LG used similar forthcoming language that day. A September 23, 2025 follow-up by LG’s Vehicle Solution Company president discussed integration and certification work, but gave no launch date or supported-vehicle list. You can read LG’s follow-up.
Accordingly, the announcements are not enough to determine whether a particular vehicle, model year, or country supports the service today. LG president Seokhyun Eun said the company aimed to supply its webOS-based ACP to 20 million vehicles by 2030; that is an LG target for the platform, not a count of vehicles with Xbox gaming or a completed deployment. LG also cited more than 240 million webOS smart TVs worldwide as platform context, not as a measure of vehicle installations.

What the announcements do not specify
Neither company’s cited announcements supplies a supported vehicle or controller list, geographic availability, a vehicle-specific data-plan price, minimum connection speed, offline option, latency measurement, or data-consumption estimate. They also do not establish the feature’s current rollout status. Without newer official compatibility information, those details should not be assumed.
