Specifically, the laptop features a bold ebony-black body with curved edges. This ebony-black body is composed of plastic material.
Due to the plastic build of the body, one would expect the Lenovo B570 to be fragile. Surprisingly, that is not the case, as this laptop feels sturdy, rugged, and rigid.
Speaking of how rigid the laptop is, the Lenovo B570 features a set of sturdy plastic hinges that hold the lid and base tightly together. These hinges are so sturdy to the extent that you’ll hardly notice any wobbling, except the lid is forcefully pushed.
Focusing more on the lid, Lenovo included its logo on the upper right corner of this laptop’s lid. Moreover, the lid has a pinstripe matte texture on its surface that gives off a thrilling sensation when you run your hands through it.
Besides, this pinstripe matte texture exceeds throughout the entire body of the laptop and makes it resistant to fingerprints and smudges. The only exception is the bezels that feature a smooth glossy texture.
These bezels are somewhat thick, and they surround the display of the laptop. Surprisingly and disappointingly, the top bezel doesn’t feature a webcam, unlike other laptops out there.
As a matter of fact, the Lenovo B570 lacks a webcam. Hence, conducting video calls or taking selfies on this laptop is impossible unless you purchase an external webcam.

Moving on, the Lenovo B570 offers a wide 15.6-inch display with an HD (1366 x 768) resolution. This HD display delivers good visual detail for video streaming and web browsing.
Moreover, the Lenovo B570 offers a TFT (thin-film transistor) technology that allows the display to deliver detailed images and super-rich colors. Besides, the display features a glossy surface that improves its color accuracy and presentation.
However, due to the glossy surface, the display is prone to reflection and sun glares when used outdoors. Also, the glossy surface causes eye strain when you stare at the display for a long period of time.
That said, the Lenovo B570 features a standard keyboard with concave-shaped keys that make typing smooth and seamless. Furthermore, each key on the keyboard is spacious and well-spaced, allowing them to accommodate different finger sizes.
Besides, the keyboard offers a full number pad. As a result, calculations or accounting operations should be very easy and convenient on the Lenovo B570.
Below the keyboard, the Lenovo B570 features a wide touchpad. This touchpad offers a very smooth surface with a vertical scroll bar on the right and a set of dedicated click buttons at the bottom.
Performance-wise, this touchpad is quite responsive and swift. Also, it supports multitouch gestures like two-finger scrolling and pinch-to-zoom.
In terms of ports and connectivity, the Lenovo B570 offers a good number of ports divided between its sides. Specifically, on the right side, the laptop features an audio jack, two USB 2.0 ports, an optical drive, and an Ethernet port.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteMeanwhile, the left side features a Kensington lock, a power outlet, a VGA port, and another USB 2.0 port. That’s not all; you will also find an HDMI port and an e-SATA/USB 2.0 combo port on the left side of this laptop.
As for wireless connectivity, the Lenovo B570 offers a WIFI 802.11b/g/n but lacks Bluetooth.
For dimension and weight, the Lenovo B570 measures 378 x 252 x 33.1 mm (W x D x H) and weighs 2350 g. With this amount of weight, there’s no doubt that this laptop is heavy.
As a matter of fact, when compared to some of its closest competitors, the Lenovo B570 is bigger and heavier. For example, the Dell Inspiron 14z (N411z) measures 345 x 245 x 35 mm (W x D x H) and weighs 2050 g.
In conclusion, the Lenovo B570 features a very sleek and solid design. However, the laptop is weighty.
As a result, I will rate the Lenovo B570 an eight out of ten in this design review section.
Lenovo B570: Processor (CPU) Performance
For processing data, the Lenovo B570 uses an Intel Core i5-2430M processor. Furthermore, this CPU is a dual-core processor.
What this means is that the CPU has two cores integrated into its chip that works simultaneously to perform tasks. Thus, this processor has the ability to perform twice as fast as a single-core processor.

Moreover, this processor also has a base frequency of 2.40 GHz and a maximum frequency of 3.0 GHz.
Hence, with this processor, the Lenovo B570 should be able to deliver a reasonable performance for handling basic computing tasks. Also, the laptop will be able to handle a few intensive tasks and also multitask effectively.

To back up these claims, I will briefly highlight the laptop’s Cinebench R10 test results. Briefly, Cinebench R10 is an app-based benchmark test that measures how well a computer’s processor can perform by evaluating its cores.
Therefore, the Cinebench R10 test involves two tests – the single-core test and the multi-core test. In brief, the single-core test estimates the performance of the processor when one of its cores is in use.

Moreover, on these tests, a higher score means better processor performance. So, based on the Cinebench R10 test result, the Lenovo B570 scored 3787 points on the single-core test.
Meanwhile, on the multi-core test, the laptop scored 8282 points. Comparatively, the ASUS U56E-XX028V, which also uses an Intel Core i5-2430M processor, performed slightly below this Lenovo laptop.
Precisely, the ASUS U56E-XX028V scored 3772 points on the single-core test and 8222 points on the multi-core test.

Lenovo B570: Memory (RAM) Performance
As regards memory, the Lenovo B570 features a DDR3-1333 MHz memory type and two memory slots. Furthermore, the laptop comes with a standard memory capacity of 4 GB RAM in one slot.
Also, it supports a maximum memory capacity of 8 GB. Hence, by adding another 4 GB RAM stick in the second slot, you will be able to upgrade the laptop to the max memory size.
Nevertheless, there’s still a lot you can do with the standard 4 GB RAM. Specifically, with 4GB RAM, the Lenovo B570 should be able to open 10 Chrome tabs easily.
Moreover, switching between these tabs should be swift and hitch-free for the laptop. Having said that, let us quickly discuss the PCMark Vantage test results of the Lenovo B570 to further verify its performance with 4 GB RAM.
In brief, PCMark Vantage is an application-based test that evaluates the memory performance of a computer by simulating everyday tasks. Furthermore, on this test, higher is better.
So, according to the test results, the Lenovo B570 scored 5778 points. When compared with the ASUS U56E-XX028V, this Lenovo laptop performed slightly better.
Specifically, the ASUS U56E-XX028V delivered a score of 5674 points on the PCMark Vantage test.

All things considered, the Lenovo B570 deserves a rating of eight out of ten in this memory review section.
Lenovo B570: Storage Options and Performance
When it comes to storage, the Lenovo B570 features a 5400 RPM SATA HDD (Hard Disk Drive). This storage drive offers a maximum storage capacity of 500 GB.
In my opinion, 500 GB of storage space should be enough for most users to store a good number of files, documents, and applications. However, I can’t say the same for storage-hungry or professional users.
Gladly, the Lenovo B570 features a media card reader that allows for storage expansion. Besides, if the overall storage of the laptop, including the media card reader, isn’t enough for you, you can consider purchasing an external hard drive.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

That said, to ascertain the storage performance of this Lenovo laptop, I will quickly highlight its CrystalDiskMark 3.0 test results. In case you are wondering, CrystalDiskMark 3.0 is a benchmark test that measures the performance of a computer’s storage drive.
Basically, it does this by assessing the read and write speeds of the storage drive. For clarity, the read speed simply means the rate at which a storage drive opens files.
The write speed, on the other hand, shows how fast the storage drive saves files. Moreover, a high “MBps” value on the CrystalDiskMark 3.0 test equates to fast read and write speed.
Hence, based on the test results, the Lenovo B570 delivered a read speed of 73.62 MBps and a write speed of 72.55 MBps. Comparatively, this Lenovo laptop performed slightly below most of its competitors that also use HDD.
For example, the ASUS U56E-XX028V recorded a read and write speed of 76.72 MBps and 75.44 MBps, respectively, on the CrystalDiskMark 3.0 test.
In conclusion, the Lenovo B570 offers a decent HDD storage space and a media card reader for storage expansion. However, this laptop was outperformed by most of its competitors on a storage benchmark test.
Hence, I will rate the Lenovo B570 a seven out of ten in this storage review section.

Lenovo B570: Graphics Card Performance
For performing graphics-associated operations, the Lenovo B570 employs an Intel HD Graphics 3000. This GPU is an integrated graphics card that offers a standard frequency of 650 MHz.
Unfortunately, as an integrated GPU, this laptop’s graphics card is built into the CPU. Hence, it lacks a dedicated VRAM and has to share the system memory with the CPU to carry out graphics-related tasks.
Therefore, with this GPU, the Lenovo B570 might not be able to smoothly carry out graphics-intensive tasks like video editing. Also, the laptop will not be able to play graphics-demanding or title AAA games effectively.
Nevertheless, this Lenovo laptop should be able to run most outdated games smoothly. For example, the laptop delivered a playable frame rate of 48.4 fps while running Team Fortress 2.
To further validate this laptop’s graphics performance, let us consider its 3DMark test results. Briefly, 3DMark is a benchmarking tool that evaluates the graphics rendering and gaming abilities of a computer’s GPU.

One-click scans. No signup required.
Moreover, a high score on this test signifies good graphics performance. Thus, based on the 3DMark test results, the Lenovo B570 scored 2642 points, which is decently high.
In fact, the laptop performed better than the ASUS X501A-XX381H, which also uses an Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU. Precisely, the ASUS X501A-XX381H delivered a score of 2277 points on the 3DMark test.
In summary, the Lenovo B570 is powered by a decent integrated graphics card that delivers adequate performance. Moreover, the laptop surpassed most of its competitors on a GPU benchmark test.
Due to this, the Lenovo B570 deserves a rating of eight out of ten in this graphics review section.

Coming down to the battery, powering the Lenovo B570 is a 6-cell 48 Wh Lithium-ion battery. According to a claim made by Lenovo, this battery should be able to offer a runtime of 5 hours and 8 minutes.
Just to be sure of Lenovo’s claim, I will briefly discuss the video playback test results of the laptop. In case you are wondering, the video playback test involves looping an HD video on the laptop till it dies.
So, at the end of this test, the Lenovo B570 delivered a battery life of 3 hours and 45 minutes. Apparently, this battery life isn’t on par with Lenovo’s 5 hours claim.
Besides, when compared to its closest rivals, the battery life of the Lenovo B570 falls behind. For instance, the Dell Inspiron 14z (N411z) delivered a battery life of 4 hours and 55 minutes on the video playback test.
