The two dioramas can be pulled out after opening the lid. That lets you show the console closed with one or both scenes stored inside, or arrange the miniature displays independently beside the console.
The controller is a model, not a gamepad

What the Power button does
LEGO describes Power as a functional or tactile physical control, alongside Open. It is a brick-built button intended to feel and look like the original control. The available product description does not establish that Power switches a circuit, illuminates the model or is mechanically coupled to a hidden electronic component, so it should not be treated as a working power switch.
Does the LEGO PlayStation work or play games?
It works as a display model: the lid opens, the controller plugs into the front and the two interior scenes can be removed. It does not work as a console. The set cannot accept PlayStation discs, render a game, produce video or audio, save progress, or accept input from a real controller.

- Keep the other scene inside the console, or remove both for a completely open interior.

Build the console on a flat surface and test the hinge gently as the instructions introduce it.
