Komen’s MORE THAN PINK Walks support the organization’s work in breast cancer research, patient care, education and advocacy. Komen’s audited financial statements show how the organization spent money across fiscal year 2025, but they do not publish a fixed percentage split for each Walk or trace an individual donation to a specific program.
What MORE THAN PINK Walk donations support
Komen’s 2026 Walk announcements say event proceeds support research, patient care, education and advocacy. In its audited financial statements, Komen reports research, patient care and advocacy as program-service expense categories. The statements identify the MORE THAN PINK Walk series and Race for the Cure as significant revenue sources, but do not specify how much a particular Walk raised or how its proceeds were divided among those areas. Komen’s audited financial statements and official event announcements are the sources for these descriptions.
What Komen reported spending in FY2025
Komen’s audited consolidated financial statements report organization-wide expenses for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025. These totals describe the organization’s annual accounting, not a breakdown of an individual donor’s dollar or of one local Walk’s proceeds.
| FY2025 expense category | Amount |
|---|---|
| Research | $18,085,050 |
| Patient care | $78,582,285 |
| Advocacy | $5,753,935 |
| Total program-service expenses | $102,421,270 |
| Fundraising | $26,838,022 |
| General and administrative | $12,665,217 |
The statement reports total expenses of $141,924,509 before separately displayed direct benefits to donors and sponsors. Fundraising and general and administrative costs are reported separately from program services; gross event revenue should not be mistaken for money spent entirely on direct services.
Why the statements do not give a per-Walk percentage
Komen’s published statements do not establish a universal formula such as a set share of every Walk donation going to research or patient care. Nor do they say that an unrestricted donation is traced one-to-one to a particular expense. The figures above are organization-wide fiscal-year totals, so they cannot be used to calculate the share of your local event or a particular gift.
Komen also reports $52,988,073 in joint costs for FY2025. These are shared costs for activities that include Race for the Cure, MORE THAN PINK Walk and 3-Day events, informational materials, a fundraising website and direct mail. Komen allocated those costs as follows:

How patient-care support can help
Komen describes patient care as including navigation, screening, diagnosis and treatment services. It delivers services directly, through grants to nonprofit organizations and through third-party contracts, with a focus on communities facing significant disparities or limited access to care. Advocacy work supports policy solutions related to patient protections, access to high-quality care and funding for breast cancer research.

What to ask about a local Walk
Because the audited financials do not show a standardized event-by-event allocation, ask the local event organizer or Komen directly if you need details on a specific Walk’s fundraising total, event expenses or local partnerships. Treat an organization-wide expense figure, a statewide patient-care example and a local event’s fundraising result as different measures: none can be substituted for another.
