Verification result: no publicly verifiable official KickAss Torrents proxy or mirror exists. The original KickassTorrents operation was taken offline on July 20, 2016, after U.S. authorities seized domains associated with the service and arrested alleged operator Artem Vaulin in Poland. Domains using the KAT name still appear online, but none has independently demonstrated that it is operated by the original team.
This page was checked on August 7, 2026. Because domains, redirects, DNS records, and reputation scores can change quickly, a list published under the “2025” label should not be treated as current or authoritative.
Is there a working official KAT proxy list?
No verified list can be provided. Current pages that publish domains such as kickasstorrents.to or other KAT-branded addresses make their own claims about being “official,” “safe,” or “working.” Those claims are not proof of a connection to the pre-2016 KickassTorrents operation.
The U.S. Department of Justice reported the seizure of domains including kickasstorrents.com, kat.ph, kickass.to, kastatic.com, kickass.so, thekat.tv, and kat.cr in 2016. A currently registered or reachable domain with similar branding does not restore that original service or establish continuity of ownership.

Historical reporting also records warnings from the original KAT team about unauthorized proxy sites. That matters because a mirror can copy the name, logo, categories, and search layout without having access to the original database or infrastructure.
Why the commonly listed domains cannot be called “verified”
| What you may see | What it actually proves |
|---|---|
| A KAT-style homepage | Only that a site is displaying copied or independently created content. |
| HTTPS and a padlock | That the browser has an encrypted connection to that domain. It does not verify the operator, downloads, legality, or safety. |
| A valid domain registration | That someone controls the registration. It does not identify that person as the original KAT team. |
| A working search box | That the site has a search function, possibly backed by a stale, incomplete, or unrelated index. |
| A page claiming to be the “primary domain” | Only a self-published assertion unless independently authenticated. |
For example, current status pages describe kickasstorrents.to as a primary domain and list additional mirrors, but they do not provide independently verifiable ownership evidence. Third-party reputation services have also flagged that domain as potentially high risk, despite its HTTPS certificate and apparent availability.
Risks associated with KAT-branded mirrors
1. Credential theft
Unauthorized copies can imitate the login page and collect usernames and passwords. Never enter a password used elsewhere into a KAT-branded site. If you already did, change it immediately on the legitimate service where it was reused, beginning with your email account, and enable multifactor authentication.

A free torrent index should not require card details for a subscription or trial. A documented KAT-branded scam redirected visitors to a registration page requesting payment information. Treat any payment prompt, “premium activation,” or mandatory account upgrade as a scam indicator.

3. Malicious redirects and browser notifications
Mirror pages may redirect visitors to phishing pages, VPN promotions, software installers, or notification-permission prompts. Viewing an index does not require installing an extension, downloading a special browser, or allowing repeated desktop notifications.
4. Malicious advertising and injected scripts
Earlier investigations of unauthorized torrent proxies found modified advertising and injected JavaScript. Such code can track visitors, redirect them, exploit an outdated browser, or deliver unwanted software. A familiar logo is not a security control.
5. Fake or incomplete download links
Some mirrors use cached pages or partial databases. The search results may look genuine while download buttons lead to unrelated files, advertising funnels, or a different website. A page’s appearance does not prove that its metadata came from the original KAT index.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
6. Unstable availability
Proxy domains commonly stop resolving, change hosts, expire, or become blocked by an ISP or regional network. Typical errors include DNS failures, “invalid response” messages, endless redirects, and pages that load without functional search or download links. Availability is therefore not evidence of authenticity.

How to handle a suspicious KAT mirror
- Do not sign in. Do not reuse an email password, username, or social-media login.
- Do not provide payment details. Close pages requesting card information for access or a free trial.
- Do not install anything. Reject prompts for extensions, “required” media players, browser updates, VPN apps, or notification permissions.
- Stop unexpected downloads. Delete files you did not deliberately request, and do not open executable files such as
.exe,.msi,.dmg, or scripts from an untrusted page. - Revoke notification access. In Chrome, open
chrome://settings/content/notifications; in Edge, openedge://settings/content/notifications. Remove suspicious sites from the allowed list. - Scan the device. Run an up-to-date security scan. If you entered credentials, change them from a known-clean device and review active sessions.
- Report the site. Use your browser’s phishing or malware-reporting option and, where appropriate, report fraudulent payment requests to the relevant authority or card issuer.
Safer ways to find downloadable content
For public-domain and openly licensed material, use established legal sources such as Internet Archive, Project Gutenberg, OpenDesktop, or the official website of the software, publisher, artist, or developer. For Linux distributions and other open-source projects, use the project’s official download page or its documented torrent link rather than a rebranded index.
For copyrighted films, music, games, books, or software, use a licensed store or streaming service available in your country. If you need to confirm where a title is legally available, a regional availability guide is safer than following an unverified proxy link.
Bottom line on the 2025 KAT proxy lists
Lists labelled “KickAss Torrents Proxy List – 2025” are now outdated by definition, and no current source independently verifies an official KAT proxy network. The original service was seized in 2016. Current KAT-branded domains should be treated as unaffiliated or unverified mirrors, not as a continuation of the original site.
The practical rule is simple: do not trust a mirror because it loads, uses HTTPS, displays familiar branding, or calls itself official. Those signals do not protect you from phishing, payment fraud, malicious advertising, malware, or stale and redirected downloads.

What happened to the original KickassTorrents site?
U.S. authorities seized domains associated with KickassTorrents on July 20, 2016, and arrested alleged operator Artem Vaulin in Poland. The original operation is not publicly verified as active today.
Is kickasstorrents.to the official KAT website?
That claim is not independently verified. The domain may display a KAT-style interface, but reachability, branding, HTTPS, and domain records do not prove that it is operated by the original KAT team.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Does HTTPS make a KAT proxy safe?
No. HTTPS encrypts traffic between your browser and the domain. It does not verify the site owner, prevent malicious advertising, confirm the legality of content, or guarantee that downloads are safe.

Should I create an account on a KAT mirror?
No. Unverified mirrors may collect credentials, and a password reused elsewhere could expose your other accounts. Payment requests or mandatory “free trial” registration are especially strong scam indicators.
Why does a KAT mirror load but fail when I search or download?
It may be a cached copy, an incomplete independent index, a redirector, or a site with broken back-end services. A functional homepage does not demonstrate that the mirror is connected to the original KAT infrastructure.
Are old 2025 proxy lists still reliable?
No. Domains, DNS records, hosting, redirects, and reputation classifications can change. More importantly, those lists generally repeat self-published claims rather than independently verifying ownership.

There is no publicly verifiable official KickAss Torrents proxy or mirror as of August 7, 2026. The original service was taken down in 2016, while current KAT-branded domains are unaffiliated or unverified and may expose visitors to credential theft, payment scams, malicious redirects, malware, and unreliable downloads. Do not treat a “working” domain as a safe or official one.
