To keep children’s songs out of your Spotify Wrapped, turn off Include kids and family music in your taste profile. In the Spotify mobile or tablet app, tap your profile picture, open Settings and privacy, choose Content and display, and switch that setting off. Spotify says the change can take up to 48 hours to propagate. Your child can still search for and play the music; the setting changes how Spotify uses that listening for personalization, listening insights, and Wrapped. For a lasting separation, have the child listen through a managed account or a separate Premium Family member account.
How do I stop my kids’ music from showing up in Spotify Wrapped?
The broadest fix is Spotify’s kids-and-family exclusion setting. It removes that category of listening from the taste profile used for personalized recommendations and listening insights, including Wrapped, while leaving playback available.
- Open Spotify on a mobile phone or tablet.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Choose Settings and privacy.
- Open Content and display.
- Turn off Include kids and family music in your taste profile.
- Allow up to 48 hours for the change to take effect across Spotify.
Spotify’s support guidance says Wrapped should then reflect your own music taste without the influence of kids and family music. Some weekly recommendation lists may update later than the main setting, so a short period of mixed recommendations is possible after you change it.
What does the kids-and-family switch change?
The switch controls Spotify’s use of children’s and family listening in your taste profile. With it off, that listening stops influencing personalized recommendations and listening insights, and it is not used to represent your taste in Wrapped.

It is not a parental lock or a playback filter. Children can continue to search for the same songs, open the same playlists, and play them on the account. The difference is how Spotify classifies those streams for your profile and annual listening summary.
This distinction matters in a shared household. If you occasionally play a children’s song yourself, Spotify’s setting does not ask you to approve every track; it applies a broad category rule. If only one accidental playlist is causing trouble, the narrower exclusion control may be more appropriate.
Should I exclude all kids’ music or only one playlist?
Choose the control that matches the source of the unwanted listening. The full setting covers Spotify’s kids-and-family category, while a playlist or track exclusion is limited to the items you select. Neither option stops the music from playing.

| Approach | Scope | Wrapped and recommendations | Timing | Playback | Separate listening identity? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kids-and-family setting | All music Spotify classifies as kids and family music | Stops that category from influencing personalized recommendations and listening insights; Spotify says Wrapped reflects your taste without it | Up to 48 hours; some weekly lists can lag | Still allowed | No |
| Exclude a playlist or track | Only the playlist or track you choose | Streams from excluded items are left out of every Wrapped story or data point, such as top artist or top songs, except total listening time | Spotify does not state a separate propagation period for an individual exclusion | Still allowed | No |
| Managed account or Premium Family member account | The child’s listening occurs on a different account | The child’s recommendations and listening remain separate from yours | Applies when the child uses that account | Available on the child’s account | Yes |
Use the broad switch when many children’s playlists have accumulated on your profile. Use an individual exclusion when one playlist, album, or recurring song is responsible and you still want other family music to inform your recommendations. Use a separate account when you want the cleanest boundary going forward.
How do I remove one children’s playlist or song?
Spotify also lets you exclude a specific playlist or track from your taste profile. This is useful for a repeated bedtime playlist, a nursery compilation, or a song that appears often enough to distort your profile without requiring a category-wide change.

- Open the children’s playlist or the individual track in Spotify.
- Open its More menu (the three-dot menu).
- Select Exclude from your taste profile.
- Repeat the process for any other playlist or track that should not influence your profile.
Spotify states that streams from an excluded playlist or track are omitted from Wrapped stories and data points, including items such as top artist and top songs. The stated exception is total listening time, which can still include those minutes. Exclusion changes the data used to describe your taste; it does not delete the audio or prevent anyone on the account from playing it.
Why can kids’ songs still appear after I change the setting?
The most common explanation is timing. Spotify says the kids-and-family exclusion can take up to 48 hours to propagate, and some weekly recommendation lists may take longer to refresh.
Check the account and menu path
Confirm that you changed the setting while signed in to the account whose Wrapped you are checking. On mobile or tablet, return to your profile picture, Settings and privacy, and Content and display; the switch should remain off. A child playing music on a different account will not change your profile, while a child using your account will still create streams that are available for playback even when the category is excluded from personalization.
Give the change its full window
Wait the complete 48-hour period before judging the result. If a weekly recommendation list still contains an old suggestion, allow additional refresh time rather than repeatedly changing the switch. Repeated toggling makes it harder to tell which state Spotify has processed.
Use an item-level exclusion when necessary
If the problem is one identifiable playlist or track, exclude it directly from its three-dot menu. That control is narrower than the category switch and is designed for selected items; Spotify does not publish a separate delay for it, so allow normal account synchronization before checking the next Wrapped surface.

Can I remove a song such as “Baby Shark” without blocking it?
Yes. Open the song’s menu and choose Exclude from your taste profile. The song remains searchable and playable, but its streams no longer appear in Wrapped stories or itemized Wrapped data such as top songs, apart from the total-listening-time exception described by Spotify.
If many children’s songs are involved, excluding one track at a time is inefficient. Turn off the kids-and-family setting for a category-wide change, or move the child’s listening to a separate account so you do not have to maintain a list of exclusions.
How do I keep a child’s listening separate in the future?
A managed account or a separate Premium Family member account is Spotify’s durable solution for households that share a subscription. The child listens while switched into that account, so the child’s recommendations and listening history are kept apart from the account used for your Wrapped.
Managed account
Use a managed account for your child when that option is offered for your Spotify setup. The child’s listening takes place under the managed profile rather than your personal profile. Before starting a children’s playlist, check the active profile so the stream is recorded in the intended account.
Premium Family member account
You can invite the child as a separate member of a Premium Family plan where that plan and its eligibility rules are available. Each member uses their own Spotify account. Switch to the child’s member account before playback; returning to your account before listening keeps your recommendations and Wrapped data tied to your profile.

Why account separation is stronger than exclusions
Exclusions are profile controls applied after listening occurs on an account. Account separation prevents the child’s listening from entering your account’s profile in the first place, so it also keeps day-to-day recommendations distinct rather than only changing how an annual summary is assembled.
How does Spotify treat excluded streams in Wrapped?
Spotify draws a specific line between itemized Wrapped facts and aggregate listening time. Its support guidance says streams from excluded playlists or tracks are not included in any Wrapped story or data point—for example, top artist or top songs—other than total listening time.
| Wrapped element | Effect of excluding a playlist or track |
|---|---|
| Top songs | Excluded streams are omitted |
| Top artists | Excluded streams are omitted |
| Other Wrapped stories and data points | Excluded streams are omitted |
| Total listening time | Spotify’s stated exception: the minutes can remain included |
This explains why an excluded children’s song should disappear from the recognizable “top” lists while your total minutes may not drop by the same amount. Spotify’s wording describes the treatment of streams in Wrapped; it does not describe deletion of your listening history or removal of the track from the service.

The documented instructions come from Spotify’s U.S. support pages. Spotify notes that regional availability, plan rules, and current menu labels can differ, so the exact wording may not match on every account. Look for the equivalent kids-and-family taste-profile control under the app’s privacy, content, or display settings, and check your local Spotify help page if the option is missing.

Which setup should I use?
Use this decision rule to avoid changing more than necessary:
- Several children’s playlists are affecting your Wrapped: turn off Include kids and family music in your taste profile, then wait up to 48 hours.
- One playlist or song is the problem: use Exclude from your taste profile from that item’s three-dot menu.
- You share Spotify with a child every day: use a managed account or a separate Premium Family member account and switch profiles before playback.
- You still see an old recommendation: verify the active account and allow for the 48-hour propagation window plus any later weekly-list refresh.
These controls can coexist with normal family listening: the music remains available, while your profile and Wrapped presentation use the boundaries you selected.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will changing the setting rewrite a Wrapped story I already viewed?
Spotify documents the setting’s effect on personalization, listening insights, and Wrapped, with propagation taking up to 48 hours. It does not promise that an already issued or previously viewed annual story will be regenerated immediately, so treat a published story as potentially unchanged while the account processes the update.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Why might my total listening time still include excluded children’s songs?
Spotify explicitly makes total listening time the exception to its exclusion rule. The songs can be removed from itemized stories such as top songs and top artists while the minutes remain part of the aggregate total.
Is the kids-and-family exclusion available on every Spotify plan and in every country?
The documented U.S. help pages show the setting, but Spotify says availability and plan rules can vary by region. If the control or a managed-account option is absent, check the local Spotify help pages and the current terms for your subscription.
Do I have to stop a child from searching for the songs after exclusion?
No. Exclusion changes profile and Wrapped treatment, not playback access. A child can continue searching for and playing the music; use a separate account if you also want that activity kept out of your account entirely.
